  • In this paper, we study quasi-Sasakian 3-dimensional manifolds admitting generalized 𝜂-Ricci solitons associated to the Schouten-van Kampen connection. We give an example of generalized 𝜂-Ricci solitons on a quasi-Sasakian 3-dimensional manifold with respect to the Schouten-van Kampen connection to prove our results.

A Study on the Performative Scenography of Ivo Van Hove : Focusing on The Fountainhead (이보 반 호브의 수행적 시노그래피 연구 : <파운틴헤드>(The Fountainhead)를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to consider characteristics of the scenography in terms of directorial viewpoints of Belgian director Ivo Van Hove(1958~) and define indefinite realities through his production, The Fountainhead. Van Hove has gained worldwide fame with his dramatic and spectacular stage production and audience participation in his production Roman Tragedies. I paid attention to the spatial aesthetics of director Van Hove, which supports such bold stage production. I believed that his philosophy of space would exist behind his sophisticated space concept. Also, if you look closely at his work's spatial characteristics, you will find elements that capture the essence of his work and lead to a performative transition of the audience. Therefore, I would like to find out in detail how these elements were applied to the work The Fountainhead and conduct researches on the spatial characteristics of Van Hove's production. In particular, The Fountainhead shows a unique stage language through Van Hove's space production, and it is considered as the best work to study the characteristics of Van Hove's space production through a hero architect Howard Roak. In other words, I judged that through Roark as a persona, I could find a link between Van Hove's spatial aesthetics and directorial scenography. I hope that active following researches on Van Hove's spatial aesthetics could be conducted in the future, and this study would be a small starting point for his research on directorial scenography.

Comparison of Accuracy of Stability Formulas for Breakwater Armor Stones (방파제 피복석 안정 공식의 정밀도 비교)

  • Various empirical formulas have been developed to describe the stability of breakwater armor stones. The Hudson formula is known to have needs to be refined in many ways. but it is most widely used because of its simplicity. The van der Meer formula is sometimes used for the cross-check, but it is not very popularly used due to its complexity and the uncertainty of the relevant parameters. Recently, on the other hand, Yoo(2003) proposed a formula of a simple form using a new non-dimensional number which is called 'action slope' (abbreviated as Yoo formula hereinafter). In this study, in order to provide coastal engineers with some idea of the use of these formulas, their accuracies were estimated by comparing with the experimental data reported by van der Meer in 1987 and 1988. It was found that the van der Meer formula showed the highest accuracy, while the Hudson formula of very low accuracy needed considered judgment on its use. On the other hand, the Yoo formula of slightly lower accuracy but simpler expression than the van der Meer formula seems to be able to be used in engineering practice if a slightly higher safety factor is taken.

  • Technology-based convergence education is being emphasized for students in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. In math education, students need to increase their capabilities in the future by having them experience mathematical problems using robots and sensors, a key technology in the era of the fourth industrial revolution. To this end, it is necessary to present educational uses for educational robots in relation to math and curriculum from a 'mathematics education perspective' and analyze its educational use in relation to the mathematics and curriculum, considering the role of mathematics at the base of the process of exploring real-world phenomena and solving problems. Based on the analysis of Van Hiele levels of development in geometry and the LOGO activity level of Olson et al.(1987), this study analyzed and presented the level of LEGO Mindstorm activity, a representative educational Robot capable of collecting and analyzing data and programming in the form of block language, in the first to fourth level.

THE DESIGN OF DGPS/INS INTEGRATION FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF 4S-Van (4S-Van 구현을 위한 DGPS/INS 통합 알고리즘 설계)

  • In this study, we developed low cost INS and (D)GPS integration for continuous attitude and position and utilized it for the determination of exterior orientation parameters of image sensors which are equipped in 4S-Van. During initial alignment process, the heading information was extracted from twin GPS and fine alignment with Kalman filter was performed for the determination of roll and pitch. Simulation and van test were performed for the performance analysis. Based on simulation result, roll and pitch error is around 0.01-0.03 degrees and yaw error around 0.1 degrees. Based on van test, position error in linear road is around 10 cm and curve around 1 m. Using direct georeferencing method, the image sensor's orientation and position information can be acquired directly from (D)GPS/INS integration. 4S-Van achieved 3D spatial data using (D)GPS/INS and image data can be applied to the spatial data integration and application such as contemporary digital map update, road facility management and Video GIS DB.

The Relationship between Pre-service Teachers' Geometric Reasoning and their van Hiele Levels in a Geometer's Sketchpad Environment

  • In this study, I investigated how pre-service teachers (PSTs) proved three geometric problems by using Geometer's SketchPad (GSP) software. Based on observations in class and results from a test of geometric reasoning, eight PSTs were sorted into four of the five van Hiele levels of geometric reasoning, which were then used to predict the PSTs' levels of reasoning on three tasks involving proofs using GSP. Findings suggested that the ways the PSTs justified their geometric reasoning across the three questions demonstrated their different uses of GSP depending on their van Hiele levels. These findings also led to the insight that the notion of "proof" had somewhat different meanings for students at different van Hiele levels of thought. Implications for the effective integration of technology into pre-service teacher education programs are discussed.

  • Quantum theory of Niels Bohr received the Nobel Prize in Physics was rooted to the Oriental thought 'Yin-Yang and the Five Elements 陰陽五行', and architect Frank Lloyd Wright is also known as Lao Tzu's thoughts on the best architectural theory. Thus, the western architecture and oriental thought is very similar to the concept development. On the basis of this fact, the architectural philosophy of Mies van der Rohe is closely contact with Lao Tzu's Taoism, that is 'The greatest has no boundary 大象無形, Tao Te Ching chap.41' or 'The way to be is not to be 有道者 不處, Tao Te Ching chap.24'. Hence the aim of this thesis is to investigate the interrelation between the German architect Mies van der Rohe's 'almost nothing' and the Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu's 'Taoism'.
