  • Thermoelectric thin film modules were fabricated by electroplating p-type $Sb_2Te_3$and n-type $Bi_2Te_3$ thin film legs with the same thickness of $20{\mu}m$ and different diameters of $100{\mu}m$, $300{\mu}m$, and $500{\mu}m$, respectively. The output voltage and output power of thin film modules were measured and compared as a function of the leg diameter. The modules processed with thin film legs of $100{\mu}m$, $300{\mu}m$, and $500{\mu}m$-diameter exhibited open circuit voltages of 365 mV at ${\Delta}T=36.7K$, 142 mV at ${\Delta}T=37.5K$, and 53 mV at ${\Delta}T=36.1K$, respectively. Maximum output powers of $845{\mu}W$ at ${\Delta}T=36.7K$, $631{\mu}W$ at ${\Delta}T=37.5K$, and $276{\mu}W$ at ${\Delta}T=36.1K$ were obtained for the modules fabricated with the thin film legs of $100{\mu}m$, $300{\mu}m$, and $500{\mu}m$-diameter, respectively.

  • This study aimed to replace the imported Chinese complete medium for Lentinula edodes with a newly-developed complete medium that is suitable for export as well. Three media compositions that supported fast mycelium growth and higher density, compared to that in the control, were chosen. Culture in the T13 medium reduced the incubation period for 'Nongjingo' by 12 days and for 'Cham-aram' by 10 days, compared to that required for the control; in addition, the number of days required for browning was greatly reduced for both varieties. The quantity of each mixed medium was increased according to the composition from the 1st to the 5th cycle by 5.9% for 'Nongjingo' and 12.6% for 'Cham-aram' in T13, compared to that in the control. A mixed medium comprising oak sawdust + Douglas fir sawdust + corn flour (40:40:20, v/v) was selected as the most suitable complete medium.

  • For a nonnegative real matrix A of rank 1, A can be factored as $ab^t$ for some vectors a and b. The perimeter of A is the number of nonzero entries in both a and b. If B is a matrix of rank k, then B is the sum of k matrices of rank 1. The perimeter of B is the minimum of the sums of perimeters of k matrices of rank 1, where the minimum is taken over all possible rank-1 decompositions of B. In this paper, we obtain characterizations of the linear operators which preserve perimeters 2 and k for some $k\geq4$. That is, a linear operator T preserves perimeters 2 and $k(\geq4)$ if and only if it has the form T(A) = UAV or T(A) = $UA^tV$ with some invertible matrices U and V.

  • We characterize the linear operators which preserve the factor rank of integer matrices. That is, if $\mathcal{M}$ is the set of all $m{\times}n$ matrices with entries in the integers and min($m,n$) > 1, then a linear operator T on $\mathcal{M}$ preserves the factor rank of all matrices in $\mathcal{M}$ if and only if T has the form either T(X) = UXV for all $X{\in}\mathcal{M}$, or $m=n$ and T(X)=$UX^tV$ for all $X{\in}\mathcal{M}$, where U and V are suitable nonsingular integer matrices. Other characterizations of factor rank-preservers of integer matrices are also given.

  • T. Nakai, who wrote Flora of Koreana vol. II in 1911, cited V. L. Komarov's collections and listed more than 120 specimens with ca. 65 localities. All collection sites cited were described in the Romanized characters based on the Russian pronunciation. Therefore, it is very difficult to pinpoint those sites using the current or old version of Korean map. From this study, many names were reviewed based on other studies (both the Russian version and the Japanese translated version) and records (e.g. specimen label) and presented based on the current provinces with local names, the Chinese character, the GPS data and the first page of citation.

  • In this study, we propose a novel 8T ternary SRAM that can process three logic values (0, 1, and 2) with only two additional transistors, compared with the conventional 6T binary SRAM. The circuit structure consists of positive and negative ternary inverters (PTI and NTI, respectively) with carbon-nanotube field-effect transistors, replacing conventional cross-coupled inverters. In logic '0' or '2,' the proposed SRAM cell operates the same way as conventional binary SRAM. For logic '1,' it works differently as storage nodes on each side retain voltages of VDD/2 and VDD, respectively, using the subthreshold current of two additional transistors. By applying the ternary system, the data capacity increases exponentially as the number of cells increases compared with the 6T binary SRAM, and the proposed design has an 18.87% data density improvement. In addition, the Synopsys HSPICE simulation validates the reduction in static power consumption by 71.4% in the array system. In addition, the static noise margins are above 222 mV, ensuring the stability of the cell operation when VDD is set to 0.9 V.

  • Background: The opitmal ventilator setting during partial liquid ventilation(PLV) is controversial. This study investigated the effects of various gas exchange parameters during PLV in normal rabbit lungs in order to aid in the development of an optimal ventilator setting during PLV. Methods: Seven New-Zealand white rabbits were ventilated in pressure-controlled mode with the following settings; tidal volume($V_T$) 8 mL/kg, positive end-expiratory pressure(PEEP) 4 $cmH_2O$, inspiratory-to-expiratory ratio(I:E ratio) 1:2, fraction of inspired oxygen($F_TO_2$) 1.0. The respiration rate(RR) was adjusted to keep $PaCO_2$ between 35~45 mmHg. The ventilator settings were changed every 30 min in the following sequence : (1) Baseline, as the basal ventilator setting, (2) Inverse ratio, I:E ratio 2:1, (3) high PEEP, adjust PEEP to achieve the same mean inspiratory pressure (MIP) as in the inverse ratio, (4) High $V_T$, $V_T$ 15 mL/kg, (5) high RR, the same minute ventilation (MV) as in the High $V_T$. Subsequently, the same protocol was repeated after instilling 18 mL/kg of perfluorodecalin for PLV. The parameters of gas exchange, lung mechanics, and hemodynamics were examined. Results: (1) The gas ventilation(GV) group showed no significant changes in the $PaO_2$ at all phases. The $PaCO_2$ was lower and the pH was higher at the high $V_T$ and high RR phases(p<0.05). No significant changes in the lung mechanics and hemodynamics parameters were observed. (2) The baseline $PaO_2$ for the PLV was $312{\pm}$ mmHg. This was significantly lower when decreased compared to the baseline $PaO_2$ for GV which was $504{\pm}81$ mmHg(p=0.001). During PLV, the $PaO_2$, was significantly higher at the high PEEP($452{\pm}38$ mmHg) and high $V_T$ ($461{\pm}53$ mmHg) phases compared with the baseline phase. However, it did not change significantly during the inverse I:E ratio or the high RR phases. (3) The $PaCO_2$ was significantly lower at high $V_T$ and RR phases for both the GV and PLV. During the PLV, $PaCO_2$ were significantly higher compared to the GV (p<0.05). (4) There were no important or significant changes in of baseline and high RR phases lung mechanics and hemodynamics parameters during the PLV. Conclusion: During PLV in the normal lung, adequate $V_T$ and PEEP are important for optimal oxygenation.

  • The interaction between two different shaped structures is very important to be understood. Fluid-structure interactions and aerodynamics of a circular cylinder in the wake of a V-shaped cylinder are examined experimentally, including forces, shedding frequencies, lock-in process, etc., with the V-shaped cylinder width d varying from d/D = 0.6 to 2, where D is the circular cylinder diameter. While the streamwise separation between the circular cylinder and V-shaped cylinder was 10D fixed, the transverse distance T between them was varied from T/D = 0 to 1.5. While fluid force and shedding frequency of the circular cylinder were measured using a load cell installed in the circular cylinder, measurement of shedding frequency of the V-shaped cylinder was done by a hotwire. The major findings are: (i) a larger d begets a larger velocity deficit in the wake; (ii) with increase in d/D, the lock-in between the shedding from the two cylinders is centered at d/D = 1.1, occurring at $d/D{\approx}0.95-1.35$ depending on T/D; (iii) at a given T/D, when d/D is increased, the fluctuating lift grows and reaches a maximum before decaying; the d/D corresponding to the maximum fluctuating lift is dependent on T/D, and the relationship between them is linear, expressed as $d/D=1.2+{\frac{1}{e}}T/D$; that is, a larger d/D corresponds to a greater T/D for the maximum fluctuating lift.

  • When the crack in orthotropic material is propagating under dynamic model I load, influences of anisotropic property ratio $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ on stress and displacement around propagating crack tip are studied in this paper. When M<0.55 and .alpha.=90.deg.(.alpha.; the angle of fiber direction with crack propagating direction, M; crack propagation velocity/shear stress wave velocity), the influence of $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ on stress .sigma.$_{x}$, .sigma.$_{y}$, .tau.$_{xy}$ and .sigma.$_{\theta}$ is the greast on .sigma.$_{y}$. Except M<0.55 and .alpha.=90.deg., it is the greast on .sigma.$_{x}$ in any situation. Increasing $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$, stress components are increased or decreased. When maximum stress is based, the stress .sigma.$_{x}$(.alpha.=90.deg.), .sigma.$_{y}$(.alpha.=0.deg.) and .tau.$_{xy}$ (.alpha.=90.deg.) are decreased with increment of $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ in M=0. any stresses except .sigma.$_{*}$x/(.alpha.=0.deg.) are decreased with increment of $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ in M=0.9. When .alpha.=90.deg., the influence of $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ on displacement U and V is V>U in any velocities of crack propagation, when .alpha.=0.deg., it is VU in M>0.75 and when $E_{L}$/ $E_{T}$ is increased, U and V are decreased in any conditions.sed in any conditions.tions.tions.tions.
