This paper describes the fabrication and characteristics of a Au/Ni/Ti/3C-SiC Schottky diode with field plate (FP) edge termination. The Schottky contacts were annealed for 30 min at temperatures ranging from 0 to $800^{\circ}C$. At annealing temperature of $600^{\circ}C$, it showed an inhomogeneous Schottky barrier and had the best electrical characteristics. However, the annealing of $800^{\circ}C$ replaced it with ohmic behaviors because of the formation of many different types of nickel silicides. The fabricated Schottky diode had a breakdown voltage of 200 V, Schottky barrier height of 1.19 eV and worked normally even at $200^{\circ}C$.
In order to effectively utilize visible light in the photocatalytic reaction, nanaocomposite of Ni doped $TiO_2$ and $NiTiO_3$ powders were synthesized by mechanical alloying and heat treatment. About 5.4 wt% of $NiTiO_3$ with particle size less than 15nm was uniformly formed in the Ni-doped rutile $TiO_2$ matrix. The UV/VIS-DRS and PL investigation showed that the nanocompasite $TiO_2$ powders had a longer absorpt ion wavelength (600$\sim$650nm, 2.0$\sim$1.9eV) than that of Ni-doped $TiO_2$ or rutile $TiO_2$ powder. The carbon decomposition of 4-CP by the nanocompasite $TiO_2$ powders were higher than other $TiO_2$ (P-25).
In this work, we prepared a heterojunction anode with a surface layer of SnO2-Sb-Ni (SSN) on a Ti/IrO2 electrode by thermal decomposition to improve the electrochemical activity of the Ti/IrO2 electrode. The Ti/IrO2-SSN electrode showed significantly improved electrochemical activity compared with Ti/IrO2. For the 0.1 M NaCl and 0.1 M Na2SO4 electrolytes, the onset potential of the Ti/IrO2-SSN electrode shifted in the positive direction by 0.1 VSCE and 0.4 VSCE, respectively. In 2.0-2.5 V voltages, the concentration in Ti/IrO2-SSN was 2.59-214.6 mg/L Cl2, and Ti/IrO2 was 0.55-49.21 mg/L Cl2. Moreover, the generation of the reactive chlorine species and degradation of Eosin-Y increased by 3.79-7.60 times and 1.06-2.15 times compared with that of Ti/IrO2. Among these voltages, the generation of the reactive chlorine species and degradation of Eosin-Y were the most improved at 2.25 V. Accordingly, in the Ti/IrO2-SSN electrode, it can be assumed that the competitive reaction between chlorine ion oxidation and water oxidation is minimized at an applied voltage of 2.25V.
Nickel-hydrogen battery systems with metal hydride alloys are expected to have both higher energy density and lower pollution than nickel-cadmium cells. Nickel-hydrogen storage cells are expected to be well-suited for use in space crafts for a large capacity power storage system. Their major advantages are not only a capability of deep DOD(depth of discharge) using but also with excellent durability under excessive overcharging and overdischarging. In this study, the charge/discharge capacities, anodic polarization characteristics and durability for the continious charge/diacharge cycling of the $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XVNi$ and $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were measured by electrochemical method. The electrode properties of the copper or nickel plated $Ti_{1-X}Zr_XV_{0.5}Ni_{1.5}$ alloys were examined with a battery charge/discharge testing system in the temperature range of -5 to $25^{\circ}C$.
Reactions between 48Sn-52In solder and under bump metallurgies(UBM) such as 100nm $Ti/8{\mu}m$ Cu and 300nm Al/400nm Ni(V)/400nm Cu have been investigated, and the shear strength of 48Sn-52In solder bumps on each UBM has been evaluated. While intermetallic compounds with two different morphologies were continuously thickened on Ti/Cu with repeating the reflow process, the intermetallics on Al/Ni(V)/Cu spalled into the solder with increasing the number of reflow times. The solder bumps on Ti/Cu exhibited higher shear strength than those on Al/Ni(V)/Cu.
NiTi alloy has been used for orthodontic wire due to good mechanical properties, such as elastic strength, friction resistance, and high corrosion resistance. Recently, these wire were coated by polymer and ceramic materials for aesthetics. The purpose of this study was to investigate electrochemical characteristics of tooth colored NiTi wire using various instruments. Wires (round type and rectangular type) were used, respectively, for experiment. Polymer coating was carried out for wire. Specimen was investigated with optical microscopy (OM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The corrosion properties of the specimens were examined using potentiodynamic tests (potential range of -1500 ~ 2000 mV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (frequency range of 100 kHz ~ 10 mHz) in a 0.9 % NaCl solution by potentiostat. From the results of polarization behavior, the passive region of non-coated NiTi wire showed largely, whereas, the passive region of curved NiTi wire showed shortly in anodic polarization curve. In the case of coated NiTi wire, pitting and crevice corrosion occurred severely at interface between non-coated and coated region. From the results of EIS, polarization resistance(Rp) value of non-coated round and rectangular NiTi wire at curved part showed $5.10{\times}10^5{\Omega}cm^2$ and $4.43{\times}10^5{\Omega}cm^2$. lower than that of coated NiTi wire. $R_p$ of coated round and rectangular NiTi wire at curved part showed $1.31{\times}10^6{\Omega}cm^2$ and $1.19{\times}10^6{\Omega}cm^2$.
Ti/Ni multilayered films (MLF) are ideal for neutron optics particularly in neutron guides and focusing devices. This system also possesses the tendency of amorphization through a solid-state reaction (SSR). This behaviors are closely related to the electronic structures and both magneto-optical (MO) and optical properties of metals depend strongly on their electron energy structures. Mutual inter-diffusion of the Tin and Ni atoms in the MLF caused by a low temperature annealing should decrease the thickness of pure Ni, as well as change the chemical and atomic order in the reactive zone. The application of the MO spectroscopy to the study of SSR in the MLF allows us to obtain an additional information on the changes in the atomic and chemical orders in the interface region. The optical one has no restriction on the magnetic state of the constituent sublayers. Therefore, the changes in magnetic, MO and optical properties of the Ti/Ni MLF due to SSR can be expected. To the best of our knowledge, the MO and optical spectroscopies were not used for this purpose. SSR has been studied in the series of the Ti/Ni MLFs with bilayer periods of 0.65-22.2nm and constant ratio of the Ti to Ni sublayers thickness by using MO and optical spectroscopies as well as an x-ray diffraction. The experimental MO and optical spectra are compared with the computer-simulated spectra, assuming various interface models. The relative changes in the x-ray diffraction spectra and MO properties of the Ti/Ni MLF caused by annealing are bigger for the multilayers with "thick" sublayers, or the SSR with the formation of amorphous alloy takes place mainly in the Ti/Ni multilayers with "thick" sublayers, while in the nominal threshold thickness of the Ni-sublayer for the observation of the equatorial Kerr effect in the as-deposited and annealed Ti/Ni MLFs of about 3.0 and 4.5nm thick is explained by the formation of amorphous alloy during the deposition or the formation of the nonmagnetic alloyed regions between pure components as a result of the SSR. For the case of Ti/Ni MLF the MO approach is more sensitive for the determination of the thickness of the reacted zone, while x-ray diffraction is more useful for structural analyses.structural analyses.
In this paper, Ni-V alloy was studied with different structures and thickness. In case of Ni-V and Ni-V/Co/TiN, low resistive Ni silicide was formed after one step RTP (Rapid Thermal Process) with temperature range from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$ for 30sec in vacuum. After furnace annealing with temperatures range from $550^{\circ}C$ to $650^{\circ}C$ for 30min in nitrogen ambient, Ni-V single structure shows the best thermal stability compare with the other ones. To enhance the thermal stability up to 650oC and find the optimal thickness of Ni silicide, different thickness of Ni-V was studied in this work. Stable sheet resistance was obtained through Ni-V single structure with optimal Ni-V thickness.
Pb(Zr,Ti)O₃[PZT] thin films were prepared on a highly (100) oriented LaNiO₃[LNO] and a randomly oriented LNO by sol-gel process. The PZT thin films on a highly (100) oriented LNO show a high (100) crystal orientation (F=100 %), those on a randomly oriented LNO show a random crystal orientation (F=60 %). All the PZT layer have a flat and dense microstructure with large columnar grains and their grain size are 25 nm. In the ferroelectric curves at electric field of 40 kV/cm, a highly (100) oriented PZT/LNO samples show coercive field, E/sub c/=10 kV/cm and remanent polarization, P/sub r/=14.5 μC/㎠, while a randomly oriented PZT/LNO sample show E/sub c/=10 kV/cm and P/sub r/=5.4 μC/㎠.
