A Comparative Analysis on the Perceptions of Users' and Financial Company Employees' on MyData Services: Using Q Methodology (마이데이터 서비스 수용 의도와 요인에 대한 사용자와 금융사 직원의 인식 비교 연구: Q 방법론을 활용하여)

  • The financial MyData service has implemented in January 2022 and launched 45 services by banks, securities, credit cards and fintech companies. This study applied the Q methodology, to identify the user types of MyData services and compared the perceptions of employees of financial institutions who plan and develop the MyData services. There are three types of MyData service users: active users, limited users who focus on consumption and asset status inquiry, and sensitive users for personal information. There were two types of recognition of financial company employees. One is the active user support other is the sensitive user for personal information support. The analysis of subjective perceptions can be used as a reference for establishing a company's MyData service marketing strategy and establishing related policies to improve the MyData ecosystem.

Exploring the Determinants of Users' Continuance Intention to Use Mobile Banking Services in Kuwait: Extending the Expectation-Confirmation Model

  • While a great body of information systems (IS) literature has discussed mobile banking (m-banking) services, most of these studies have focused on the adoption or acceptance phases of this technology; with little attention was given to users' intension to continue using such technology. This paper aims at investigating the most important factors that predict users' continuous intension to use m-banking services in the post-adoption phase. This paper presents a conceptualization and validation of an extended expectation-confirmation model (ECM). A total of 303 Kuwaiti users of m-banking services participated in this study. Partial least squares (PLS) of structure equation modelling (SEM) technique was used to analyze the data. The results mainly showed that users' continuous intension to use m-banking services is significantly influenced by perceived trust, satisfaction, self-efficacy, performance expectancy and effort expectancy. Theoretical and practical contributions as well as the research limitations and future directions are discussed.

Designer-User Interaction without Actual Users: A Lesson from a Field Study

  • The purpose of the paper is empirically to explore 'design manner', focusing on the designer's knowledge boundary on the designer-user interactions in the design process. This study conducts a field study and observed designer's interactions with actual users in a leading user-centered design firm over three months. The observations revealed how designers bring ideas about users into design without physically interacting with users during the design process. Based on Bourdieu's theory of practice and the concept of boundary objects, this study introduces the concept of 'design manner', by which designers incorporate user's ideas into the design process without actual involvement of users in the process. This paper contributes to the body of knowledge by introducing the design manner in-between designer's and user's knowledge boundaries and argue bridge between theoretical and actual designer-user interactions in the IS design process.

Performance Improvement for Device-to-Device (D2D) Users in Underlay Cellular Communication Networks

  • This study focuses on the performance of device-to-device (D2D) communications in underlay cellular networks by analyzing key metrics such as successful transmission probability, coverage probability, and throughput. Under the homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) spatial distribution of full-duplex (FD)-D2D users in cellular networks, stochastic geometry tools are used to derive approximate expressions for D2D users' coverage probability and throughput. In comparison to the conventional half-duplex (HD) communication mode, when the self-interference cancellation factor β reaches -95 dB, there is a substantial improvement in the throughput of FD-D2D users, nearly doubling their gain. Additionally, experimental results demonstrate that the Newton iterative algorithm can be used to optimize the targeted signal-to-interference-plus-noise-ratio (SINR) threshold of users within the range of (10, 20) dB.

Effects of Beam Configuration on Performances of NOMA System for Millimeter Wave Channels

  • Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a technique that forms a NOMA group composed of two or more users and transmits the superimposed signals of all users in the group through a single beam. In case all users in a NOMA group fall within the main lobe, a high data rate is guaranteed. However, in case not all users in the group fall within the main lobe due to the narrow beam width, the sum data rate decreases, and the data rate disparity between users inside and outside the main lobe widens significantly, leading to reduced fairness. On the other hand, an excessively wide beam might reduce the channel gain which lowers the sum data rate. This paper discusses the effects of beam configuration on the throughput and fairness performances of the NOMA system in the millimeter wave channel environments with simulation results for various channel parameters including the number of antennas and beam directions.

Reuse Intentions for Carsharing Services: A Hierarchical Model of Perceived Benefits, Risks, and Individual Differences

  • This study employs a hierarchical component model to examine reuse intentions among experienced carsharing service users in South Korea, focusing on how various perceptions of benefits and risks impact their decisions. It also explores the influences of self-efficacy, gender, and service usage experience on these perceptions and reuse intentions. Findings highlight that male users are primarily driven by functional benefits such as accessibility and convenience, whereas female users are more responsive to hedonic benefits. Users with high self-efficacy prioritize economic benefits, whereas those with more usage experience prioritize functional benefits. Additionally, social risks significantly deter reuse intentions predominantly among male and less experienced users. By utilizing a hierarchical model, this study offers a deeper understanding of how each dimension of benefits and risks affect overall perceptions, facilitating tailored strategies for carsharing services. The insights contribute valuable theoretical and practical perspectives on the dynamics of carsharing service usage.

Development of the Portable Weighing Scale Automatic Device for Disabled Wheelchair Users (휠체어 탑승 장애인을 위한 이동형 체중측정 자동화 장치 개발)

  • Wheelchair users have a difficulty in managing their weight because there is lack of measure systems and even though the users have the system, it costs too much. Thus, purpose of this study is for developing the portable weight scale automatic device to help wheelchair users by monitoring their weight on the wheelchairs in real time. Portable weight scale automatic device composed by four strain gauges, and the device was connected with mobile phone so that wheelchair users were able to check their weight in real time. In order to evaluate the device performance, 10 normal subjects and 10 disabled subjects participated in this study. The subjects' truth weight and measured weight by the device are compared. The weigh difference within normal subjects was $0.75{\pm}0.80kg$, and the weigh difference within disabled subjects was $1.02{\pm}0.74kg$. Difference between the truth weigh and the measured weigh were not statistically different. The reason for this error occurred is inaccuracy of the loadcell installation and calibration. If this problems get solved, the measured indicator is expected to help wheelchair users to manage their weight.

  • As the standard of living has raised and the local self-governing body has enforced, cultural facilities have been increased in local areas. These cultural facilities should be designed to consider various users. However, most facilities were designed to focus on size or visual expressions. Therefore, this study was intended to evaluate common spaces of two cultural centers in local area from the universal design point of view. Two cultural centers located in large apartment complex were selected. The evaluating tool consisted of 46 elements related to universal design. The common space were pathway to entrance, parking lot, entrance, all over building, corridor, and restroom. Each 100 users of these two cultural centers evaluated them using by 5-point Likert scale. The results were as follows; The users rated them positively, but not highly. This means that some improvement were needed. Generally, the consideration for upgrading the quality of design such as material, pattern and color needed, and for various users including wheelchair users and seniors were needed. Also, when considering the users' behavior pattern and purposes, installing canopy over entrance, and providing seating places at corridor or pathway were needed.

Smartphone Adoption using Smartphone Use and Demographic Characteristics of Elderly

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate major factors influencing adoption of smartphone to promote its use by older adults. Background: Despite increasing proportion of elderly people and elderly market, the proportion of elderly smartphone user is still relatively small compared to whole smartphone users. Thus, we need to find out major factors influencing adoption of smartphone to increase proportion of elderly smartphone users. Method: Seven major factors were extracted from 36 survey questions using factor analysis. Regression analysis was also applied to determine specific factors affecting intention of use based on user versus non-user of smartphone, age, gender, and educational background. Results: As results of factor analysis and regression analysis, major factors influencing adoption of smartphone for elderly users were significantly different according to gender, age, educational background based on smartphone users or non-users. Conclusion: The result of this study identified major factors influencing adoption of smartphone for the elderly and provided basic information related to adoption of smartphone according to elderly people's characteristics. Consequently, we can expect to reduce the information gap and to improve quality of life for the elderly. Application: The development and marketing strategy could be applied differently based on the factors influencing adoption of smartphone. It is also possible to develop a prediction model for smartphone adoption according to elderly users' characteristics.

Identifying Factors Affecting Behavioral Intent of Potential and Existing N-screen Service Users

  • With recent advances in media technology, the creation of a relatively new service, N-screen, has been realized. N-screen provides seamless connections among various media and enables users to enjoy entertainment content at any time and any location. With such recent advances comes opportunity; therefore, for those N-screen service providers who have established an early edge in the ICT industry, it is imperative that they maintain this and stay ahead of the ensuing competition. In this context, the objective of this study is two-fold; first, we aim to find factors influencing the behavior of existing and potential N-screen service users, and then second, to examine the differences in how these factors operate within the two user types. The results of this study show that the perceived value and subjective norm are important influencers in both user types. However, price fairness and innovativeness are only influential on the attitude and intention of potential users, while some aspects of media usage have only significant influences on the behavior and loyalty of existing users. Based on these results, we provide some implications for both researchers and practitioners who wish to better understand the nature of N-screen users.
