A Usability Evaluation Study for Improving the Quality of e-Learning Contents User Interface in a Cyber University (사이버대학에서 이러닝콘텐츠 사용자 인터페이스의 질 개선을 위한 사용성 평가연구)

  • In the process of development the e-learning course at Cyber University, one important factor to be considered for the effective e-learning contents is the User Interface(UI) of the e-Learning content platform. The User Interface is important because the well-designed UI can help students to perform effectively and easily learning activities. Despite the importance of the usability, few attempts have been carried out to design the e-learning contents UI from the usability perspectives. Thus, the purpose of this study is to explore the usability design elements for the e-learning contents UI. For this purpose, a usability evaluation study on the e-learning contents UI of a cyber university at Seoul was conducted. Implications for the improvement of the current e-Learning contents UI was presented.

  • In this paper we studied English listening and speaking test part of foreign language using web and VoiceXML-based education testing system, which is irrespective of time and space. The testing system interface based on VoiceXML consists of user registration module, testing module, and testing result module. User registration module registers user's name and ID, password in user database, and when a tester calls for testing, the User listens to the telephone sound supported by vxml scenario. After that, if a tester logs in, the tester is verified, In the VoiceXML-based education testing system, the manager can reduce time and effort for gaining testing result. The tester listens to the voice by scenario supported by VoiceXML markup language using wire/wireless telephone at any time or anywhere and can improve the effect of foreign language studying by valuating in voice directly. verified.   • In anomaly intrusion detection, how to model the normal behavior of activities performed by a user is an important issue. To extract the normal behavior as a profile, conventional data mining techniques are widely applied to a finite audit data set. However, these approaches can only model the static behavior of a user in the audit data set This drawback can be overcome by viewing the continuous activities of a user as an audit data stream. This paper proposes a new clustering algorithm which continuously models a data stream. A set of features is used to represent the characteristics of an activity. For each feature, the clusters of feature values corresponding to activities observed so far in an audit data stream are identified by the proposed clustering algorithm for data streams. As a result, without maintaining any historical activity of a user physically, new activities of the user can be continuously reflected to the on-going result of clustering.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the play behaviour and play environment of children at the Air-bounce space in the theme museum, using user observation and interviewing user behaviour, main methods of user research. Study area is Animation theme museum in Chuncheon City, Kangwon Province, Republic of Korea. Main results show that physical, emotional, cognitive, and social behaviour of playing children in the study area are observed, and this study draws the planning and design related implications of play space such as carrying capacity, waiting room and safety guard and so on. The results of this study can be used in the planning and design process of children's play environment as important guidelines.

  • Recently, the fields such as internet banking and electronic commerce are more and more growing due to the growth of practical use of personal computer and the progress of communication technology, So importance of information security has been increased. In fact, traditional identification systems are inherently insecure because the personal identification information can be forgotten, stolen or lost. In this paper, we propose an identification system that can decide whether the user is registered based on iris information using a mouse. The proposed system is mounted a CCD camera and an illumination device on general type mouse. Then it decides whether the user is registered after the acquired image are processed and analyzed. This system gives a PC user the advantage of low-cost and convenience without necessity preparing high-cost equipment for biometrics when using a identification system.

  • In the case of the password-based PKI technology, because it protects by using the password which is easy that user memorizes the private key, he has the problem about the password exposure. In addition, in the system of electronic bidding, the illegal use using the authentic certificate of the others increases. Recently, in order to solve this problem, the research about the PKI technology using the biometrics is actively progressed. If the bio information which the user inputs for the bio authentication is converted to the template, the digest access authentication in which the security is strengthened than the existing authentication technology can be built. Therefore, in this paper, we had designed and developed the system of electronic bidding which it uses the most widely used fingerprint information in the biometrics, it stores the user fingerprint information and certificate in the fingerprint security token and can authenticate the user. In case of using the system of electronic bidding of the public key infrastructure using the fingerprint information proposed in this paper the agent bid problem that it uses the certificate of the others in not only user authentication intensification but also system of electronic bidding can be concluded.

  • Recent growth of ring-tone and ring-back-tone download market as the derived market of cellular phone yields the new trend in music consumption from listening to display. This means that consumer purchase the ring-tone and RBT not for his appreciation but for counterpart's consumption, in a word, conspicuous consumption. Study aims at questions on whether cellular phone user can perceive the ring-tone and RBT's brand personality and how they express their self-image via ring-tone and RBT. Survey was administered for 196 college students who is dominant purchase group of market segment. Hypotheses are such as : congruity of self image and brand personality of ring-tone and RBT. Through the T-test, findings said that user's extrovert self image are not led to ring-tone's extrovert brand personality and user's introvert self image are not led to introvert ring-tone's brand personality of ringtone. same result was applicable to RTB. Cellular phone user's purchase behavior are different from those of product and service.

  • The touch screen phone launched domestically in Korea, unlike the existing plane UI, it applied a cubic shape of 3D UI which provides three dimensional solid graphic. This study proposes to examine the correlation between the users' experience of 3D GUI, which were made by two different companies, and the brand. From this point of view, this study sets up a hypothesis about intimate correlation between individual differentiated brand and the user experience. Base on that, a model was designed. This study measured the satisfaction of user experience through the disclosure and non-disclosure of brand, focusing on 3D GUI cases which were launched so far, and it demonstrated that there was a clear difference in the degree of satisfaction. Through this examine, a brand was confirmed as one of the important element of user experience in using the 3D GUI that was launched competitively by companies. Therefore, the result of this study suggest that the designers need to establish strategies that make the brand as the core subject of design during the process of manufacturing product and service.

Perception Research on Providing for NEIS Student and Parent Services based on Smartphone (스마트폰 기반 나이스 학생·학부모서비스 제공을 위한 인식조사)

  • According to increasing smartphone users, Public mobile services is expanding across all areas, including education. We have to prepare NEIS(National Education Information System) student and parent service based on smartphone that provide information about student's school life for the smartphone users. Therefore, in this paper, we conducted an online questionnaire survey for student and parent. User's perception for existing services were analyzed by factors of content availability, service utilization, and user affinity. Reliability analysis of the collected data, the results of correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were found reliable. The user affinity factor have the most significant impact on user satisfaction and intention to user smartphone service. Consequently, the study stresses a measure of NEIS student and parent service based on smartphone and public education information service through the perception analysis of these.

A Study on the Determinants of User's Satisfaction at e-Trade Portal Sites in Korean Small and Medium Enterprises (중소기업의 무역포탈사이트 이용만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • Trade portal site is one of the tools which make it possible for small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs) to manage international trade activities more efficiently by using the newest information and telecommunication technology. So Korean SMEs should utilize trade portal sites more actively to promote global competitive power. Based on the theory of service quality and existing researches related to using information technology, this paper analyzed the primary factors which affect user's utilization satisfaction in using trade portal sites. According to the results of the empirical study on actual users of the representative trade portal sites by multiple regression analysis, the primary factors, such as service quality, government policy and cost factor have affected user's utilization satisfaction in using trade portal sites. And user's utilization satisfaction have positive effect on continuous using intention. These research results will provide many useful insights to trade portal site managers, e-trade system developers and government policy makers.
