The purpose of this study was to understand the nature and structure of "uncertainty of chronically ill patients" by explaining it more scientifically. This study is based on the unique experiences, which individual uncertainty experiences differ from others. In this sense, Q-methodology which includes self-psychology and abductive logics is applied to the study. The results indicate that there are six types of uncertainty of chronically ill patients : my own fault, self-esteem loss, self-care determination, cure-doubt, reality-restructure, and past-tenacity reality-absence. Thus, "uncertainty of chronically ill patients" is defined from the study as the process in which continuous transition and evaluation of possibility cause changes in human recognition, attitude, action, etc.. The significance of the study is threefold : (1) discovery of six types of uncertainty of chronically ill patients in Korean people, (2) the better understanding of "uncertainty of chronically ill patients", (3) possible developments of nursing concept and assessment and intervention technique based on the new dimension of the understanding in uncertainty for nursing of chronically ill patients from this research.
The six core competencies have been emphasized in the mathematics curriculum revised in 2015. In particular, the communication is very important for students' representing their own thinking and enhancing much higher mathematical thinking. Based on this competency, this study selected the four elements of the communication such as the understanding of mathematical representation, development and transition of mathematical representation, the representation of his own thinking, the understanding of the others' thinking. And also this study selected the domain of function which is comprised of the content of the coordinate plane, the graph, proportionality in the seventh grade mathematics textbook. By the subject of the ten kinds of textbook, this study examined how the four elements of the communication competency were shown in each textbook.
In pluralistic political realities that have been exposed as antagonistic relationships between self and others, the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' in Daesoon Thought emphasizes the complementarity between self and others and presents us with a new form of cognition and attitude which can overcome pluralistic political realities. Though solipsism that objectificates others on the basis of the self, the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' presents us a new form of cognition and attitude with which we can approach others. The principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' is based on the logic that we can secure and extend ourselves only in relation between self and others. Self is not fully formed or perfected without others. Previous discussions on the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' as it is exists within Daesoon Thought have been limited to Eastern Philosophy. On one hand, this inclination may be due to a narrow understanding of Western Philosophy. The flow of Modern Western Philosophy can at times be a self-reflective output for solipsism. On the other hand, the understanding of the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum in context of a dualistic contrast between Eastern Philosophy and Western Philosophy is not concordant with the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' which emphasizes the creation of harmony between self and others. This paper aims to investigate avenues to create harmony between Eastern Philosophy and Western Philosophy regarding the principle of 'Coincidentia Oppositorum' in Daesoon Thought. Specifically, attention will be paid to 'flesh' as used by Merleau-Ponty. In his writings, flesh is the matrix which activates the fundamental involvement between self and others. Self is a being of flesh and an ambiguous being which is formed in a double position (seeing and being seen). Flesh can secure and extend the self only through its relationship to an other or multiple others. Restoring the other that has been excluded from modern Western Philosophy, Merleau-Ponty's flesh call for contemplation into the meaning of the other and of otherness.
Laminar burning velocities have been predicted by constant volume combustion chamber, counter flow burner and others. In this study, the measured flame propagation velocities in an assembled annular stepwise diverging tube were plotted with respect to equivalence ratio, length scale, and velocity scale. Three dimensional approach to understand the flame propagation velocity including laminar burning velocity is investigated, and the surface provides the correlation among quenching distance, propagation velocity, and equivalence ratio.
Since the paleomagnetic study was introduced in Korea about 40 years ago, its scientific findings contributed to the understanding of geologic settings and tectonic processes of the Korean Peninsula and eventually to the escalation of geology and geophysics in Korea. It is worth summarizing and introducing the up-to-date paleomagnetic results produced by the representative paleomagnetic working groups in Korea, such as K. D. Min, I. S. Kim, S. J. Doh, Y. S. Lee, D. W. Suk, the late K. H. Kim and others.

The purpose: This study was to describe the spiritual nursing care experiences of nursing students who were in a university, Seoul, Korea. Method: This study is based on descriptive analysis of case studies that were submitted by nursing students. Nursing students were 64 person who were sophomores in a university of the year 2000, 2001. Results: 1. The problems that students report for their subjects were: Loss of self-confidence, body image complex, health status problems, maladaptability, economic problems of home, guilty feeling, problems with dating, loneliness, uncertainty of their future, faith problem, accountability, stress and apart from intimate friends. 2. The methods which students use to solve the subjects's problems were: prayer with subjects, use the Scripture, conversation, meet frequently, listening, frequent phone call, explore problem solving methods together, write letters or E-mails, present with books or music CD etc. 3. After the students have experienced spiritual nursing care they feel that: satisfaction, lack of knowledge of spiritual care, understanding the importance of spiritual nursing care make a new resolution for others, understanding the importance of listening, understanding the power of prayer, the need of Bible study. Conclusion: Maintaining spiritual wellness is a important as maintaining physical fitness and essential for optimal well being. Therefore educating nursing students in developing and maintaining spiritual wellness is essential for the patient to achieve holism.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of MMTIC group counseling program on self-esteem of elementary school students. The hypothesis was that the self-esteem test scores of experimental group would be significantly higher than those of control group. The subjects were the twenty 5th graders sampled from the 66 5th graders of D Elementary School in Boryeong City based on self-esteem test scores. The 10 subjects were randomly assigned experiment group and others were assigned control group. The self-esteem test by Mun, Yong Woo (2002) modified from the measurement of Kim, Heui Hwa (1989) was administrated as pre and post test. The experimental group has experienced MMTIC group counseling program. On the other hand, the control group has not been given any advice during the counseling periods. The counseling was once a week at two o'clock in the afternoon for ten weeks from the eleventh of May to sixteenth of July in 2003. Each counseling session lasted sixty to eighty minutes. The group counseling program, which has been used in this research, has been adapted to the level of elementary students with the consideration of MBTI and MMTIC Workshop in reference to a few theses related to MMTIC development program (Jung, Gyeong Yeon, 2001: Gang, Jae Jeong, 2002; Lee, Jae Mo 2002). The results were analysed by t-test. These statistics with a quantitative result has been supplemented with a qualitative analysis by a questionnaire and the descriptions of impression of subjects of experimental group. The results of this research was that the analyses of the questionnaire and a description of their impression have shown that the counseling has had an significantly impact on their understanding themselves and others. In particular, this program has been positively conducive to receptive relationships to others. In conclusion, the MMTIC group counseling program has helped elementary students I understand themselves and others, increase receptive competence, encourage their confidence, improve personal relationships and enhance their adaptation to their school life. It suggests that this program has a feasible effect on children's sense of self-esteem.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the self-esteem of health science college students and their empathy for others. Methods : A survey was administered to 448 students from the five departments of health science (Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Dental Hygienics, Nursing, and Medical Administration) at a college located in Busan, South Korea, between September 28 and November 2, 2017. To measure their self-esteem and empathy for others, the Self-esteem Scale and the Korean Empathy Quotient (K-EQ) Scale were used. Results : There were statistically significant differences in social skills as a sub-item of empathy skills based on age and department, as well as in emotion as a sub-item of empathy skills based on sex. Self-esteem and all the items of empathy showed meaningful differences based on monthly expenses, while self-esteem and cognition as a sub-item of empathy skills displayed significant differences based on source of monthly income. Noteworthy differences were also found in self-esteem and emotion as a sub-item of empathy skills based on satisfaction with current school life. Self-esteem and empathy skills were shown to have a positive correlation. Conclusion : According to the results of this study, self-esteem and empathy skills had a statistically significant correlation. Further research is needed to investigate how health science college students can improve their understanding of themselves and their empathy for others.
Purpose: This study was designed to evaluate the perception of cancer in aspirants for hospice volunteer. Methods: Aspirants for hospice volunteer were surveyed by questionnaire before education of hospice program in September 2005 at Pyongan Hospice Center of Sam Anyang Hospital. The questionnaire was composed of total 28 items. Ten items were general characteristics and the remaining 18 items knowledge, attitude and practice of cancer and cancer pain. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 11.0 program using frequency, mean, percentage. Results: Eighty nine questionnaires were returned. There were 6 males and 83 females, and median age of aspirants was 46 years. Forty five aspirants(51%) had a cancer patient in th family or relatives and the others 44(49%) not. Forty eight(54%) had favorable attitude about modern clinical medicine for cancer treatment and the others 39(44%) unfavorable. Fifty eight(65%) had favorable attitude about complementary and alternative medicine for cancer treatment and the others 20(23%). In response to the question about 'How illness is a cancer', 25 aspirants(25%) responded to chronic disease, 42(47%) suffering incurable disease, the others 17(19%) death sentence, respectively. A number of aspirants had wrong knowledge and understanding of cancer, cancer pain and opioid analgesics. Seventy one percent aspirants feared cancer pain. Conclusion: The credibility to modern clinical medicine for cancer treatment was relatively low in aspirants for hospice volunteer compared with complementary and alternative medicine. They recognized a cancer as suffering incurable disease and death sentence than chronic disease. A number of aspirants had wrong knowledge of cancer, cancer pain and opioid analgesics. Therefore, further studies and trial will be warranted to evaluated the causes of these results and improve the credibility of modern clinical medicine for cancer treatment in general population.
The purpose of the study you have seen is to verify the effectiveness of existing quantitative research and to put the Empathy Training Program to practical use for participating children. From looking into this, the changes in empathic understanding that came to light in relationships between teacher and children and children and children are sure to have that effect. For this work, I established the following subject of inquiry: What kind of changing processes can be seen in the empathic understanding of participating children in the Empathy Training Program? To resolve the above line of inquiry, six female sixth grade elementary school students were chosen and they progressed through twelve sessions of the Empathy Training Program. The children were given a sentence completion exam, recognition work, neat writing exam and a school adaptation exam both before and after participation in the program, making data for analysis. To analyze, first, participants had one or two meetings of forty to fifty minutes each. Progress through the program's curriculum was recorded and through the repeating and copying method, to be sure participating children's empathic understanding was revealed, empathic language and behavior was routinely chosen. Next, according the above criteria I looked into visible changes of the participating children's empathic expressions, classifying and analyzing changes in empathic understanding and six instances of common changes in the emphatic understanding of the participants relationships were analyzed and put together. Next I will summarize the findings we have seen in this research: First, if we look into changes in common empathic understanding from the beginning, using the criteria of empathic language, each individual showed understanding at the beginning and passed and progressed through stages of care, insight and emotional expressions. Second, when we looked at the criteria of empathic behavior from the beginning to the end, one's line of vision and ability to concentrate one's attention was connected. Next, the act of nodding one's head looked like a brief nod at first but at the end, it was not just a simple nod but rather they could feel deep empathy. The condition and substance of the facial expression was seen to match and at the very end the child was expressive and stretched out arms to hold and pat the other person and the act of holding hands could also be seen. Among lots of empathic behavior the final stage was shown by half of the children. Third, from the first stage to the last stage there were many cases revealed. The more the children went the more complete their empathic language became. Their vocabulary increased and became more diverse with empathic actions. Also, when comparing actions and expressions from the beginning with the end, visible expressions became more natural and sincere at the end. The result of the research we have seen is that through receiving experience of empathic understanding, participating children showed a sense of self-confidence and they looked to make peaceful expressions while not being aggressive or defensive about problems. In addition, from understanding empathic expressions, participating children's relationships felt closer. This outcome within this group in this case will be applied and the formation of empathic understanding can be used by the children internally to solve their own problems, acquire close relationships with their teachers and others. It will also contribute to smooth classroom management.
