  • This paper presents an LMI-based method to design an integral sliding mode controller for a class of uncertain systems with unmatched uncertainties. The uncertain system under consideration may have unmatched parameter uncertainties in the state matrix as well as in the input matrix. Using LMIs an existence condition of a sliding surface is derived. And a switching feedback control law is given. Finally, numerical examples are given to show that the proposed method can be better than the existing results for some cases.

  • This paper deals with a robust pole placement method for uncertain linear systems. For all admissible uncertain parameters, a static output feedback controller is designed such that all the poles of the closed loop system are located within the prespecfied disk. It is shown that the existence of a positive definite matrix belonging to a convex set such that its inverse belongs to another convex set guarantees the existence of the output feedback gain matrix for our control problem. By a sequence of convex optimization the aforementioned matrix is obtained. A numerical example is solved in order to illustrate efficacy of our design method.

  • In this paper, in order to control uncertain chaotic system, an adaptive fuzzy control(AFC) scheme is developed for the multi-input/multi-output plants represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy models. The proposed AFC scheme provides robust tracking of a desired signal for the T-S fuzzy systems with uncertain parameters. The developed control law and adaptive law guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system. In addition, the chaotic state tracks the state of the stable reference model(SRM) asymptotically with time for any bounded reference input signal. The suggested AFC design technique is applied for the control of an uncertain Lorenz system based on T-S fuzzy model such as stabilization, synchronization and chaotic model following control(CMFC).

  • The robust control problem of the linear systems with uncertainty is classified as the robust stability problem guaranteeing the stability and the robust performance problem guaranteeing the disired performance. In this paper, we considered the robust performance analysis problem, which find the upper buund of the quadratic performance of the uncertain linear system, and the robust guaranteed performance controller design problem which design a controller guaranteeing the desired quadratic performance. At first, we treated the analysis problem and presented the two results; one is dependent on the performance of the nominal system and another is independent on this. And we treated the design method guaranteeing the desired performance for the uncertain linear systems, Finally, we show the usefulness of our results by numerical examples.

  • Uncertainty theory is a branch of mathematics based on normolity, duality, subadditivity and product axioms. Uncertain process is a sequence of uncertain variables indexed by time. Canonical Liu process is an uncertain process with stationary and independent increments. And the increments follow normal uncertainty distributions. Uncertain differential equation is a type of differential equation driven by the canonical Liu process. Stability analysis on uncertain differential equation is to investigate the qualitative properties, which is significant both in theory and application for uncertain differential equations. This paper aims to study stability properties of linear uncertain differential equations. First, the stability concepts are introduced. And then, several sufficient and necessary conditions of stability for linear uncertain differential equations are proposed. Besides, some examples are discussed.

  • This paper presents an output feedback controller design method for uncertain linear systems with sinusoidal disturbance of uncertain frequencies. The controller needs to compensate for the performance deterioration due to the uncertain frequencies of sinusoidal disturbance. To this end, we introduce a virtual system including the dynamics corresponding to the uncertain frequencies and design a controller which minimizes the output difference between the virtual system and the closed-loop system. In other words, the controller is designed so that the closed-loop system approximates the virtual system. The feedback controller is achieved by solving an LMI optimization problem involving a robust $H_{\infty}$ constraint. The advantages of the proposed design method are examined by comparing it with a design method that only minimizes the $H_{\infty}$ norm of the transfer function between the sinusoidal disturbance and the output. The proposed design method is applied to the track-following system of rewritable optical disk drives and is evaluated through an experiment.

  • The design problem of the control system is the ability to synthesize controller that achieve robust stability and robust performance. The paper explains the Finite Inclusions Theorem (FIT) by the procedure namely FIT synthesis. It is developed for synthesizing robustly stabilizing controller for parametrically uncertain system. The fundamental problem in the study of parametrically uncertain system is to determine whether or not all the polynomials in a given family of characteristic polynomials is Hurwitz i.e., all their roots lie in the open left-half plane. By FIT it can prove a polynomial is Hurwitz from only approximate knowledge of the polynomial's phase at finitely many points along the imaginary axis. An example shows the simplicity of using the FIT synthesis to directly search for robust controller of parametrically uncertain system by way of solving a sequence of systems of linear inequalities. The systems of inequalities are solved via the projection method which is an elegantly simple technique fur solving (finite or infinite) systems of convex inequalities in an arbitrary Hilbert space. Results from example show that the controller synthesized by FIT synthesis is better than by H$\sub$$\infty$/ synthesis with parametrically uncertain system as well as satisfied the objectives for a considerably larger range of uncertainty.

  • This paper considers the problem of robust stability for uncertain discrete-time interval time-varying delayed descriptor systems using any combinations of quantization and overflow nonlinearities. First, delay-dependent linear matrix inequality (LMI) condition for discrete-time descriptor systems with time-varying delay and quantization/overflow nonlinearities is presented by proper Lyapunov function. Second, it is shown that the obtained condition can be extended into descriptor systems with uncertainties such as norm-bounded parameter uncertainties and polytopic uncertainties by some useful lemmas. The proposed results can be applied to both descriptor systems and non-descriptor systems. Finally, numerical examples are shown to illustrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness.

  • A new improved variable structure controller is designed to drive uncertain linear systems to any given point by using a sliding surface with an integral of state error for removing any reaching phases. Predetermination or prediction of output response is feasible for all the persistent disturbances. The usefulness of the proposed algorithm is verified through an illustrative example.

  • It is well known that one can easily design a high-gain adaptive output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems which satisfy a certain condition called output feedback exponential passivity (OFEP). The designed high-gain adaptive controller has simple structure and high robustness with regard to bounded disturbances and unknown order of the controlled system. However, from the viewpoint of practical application, it is important to consider a robust control scheme for controlled systems for which some of the assumptions of output feedback stabilization are not valid. In this paper, we design a robust high-gain adaptive output feedback control for the OFEP nonlinear systems with uncertain nonlinearities and/or disturbances. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by numerical simulations.
