Objective & Methods : The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus extact(RLF-HA) at KI10(Umgok) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized( OVX) ddy mice. We carried out several experimental items to analyze the changes in body weight, uterine weight, uterus index, tibial length, the ash bone weight, tibial BMD, serum ALP, serum osteocalcin, serum Ca, and the levels of Ca, P, Ca/P ratio in tibia, and we performed histological and histomorphological analysis as well. Results : 1. Herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus at KI10(Umgok) and saline injection at KI10(Umgok) significantly inhibited the reduction of tibial calcium level in ovariectomized mice. 2. Herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus at KI10(Umgok) significantly inhibited the increase of tibial osteoclast cells in ovariectomized mice. 3. Herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus at KI10(Umgok) significantly inhibited the reduction of tibial trabecular bone thickness(TBT) in ovariectomized mice. 4. Herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus at KI10(Umgok) significantly inhibited the overgrowth of tibial growth plate length(GPL) in ovariectomized mice. Conclusion : These results suggested that herbal-acupuncture with Rosae Laevigatae Fructus at KI10(Umgok) has a therapeutic effect on osteoporosis, and to be put to practical use in the future osteoporosis clinic.

Objectives & Methods : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of Drynariae Rhizoma Herbal-acupuncture infusion solution at Umgok($KI_{10}$) on Osteoporotic Rats Induced by Ovariectomy. The author performed several experimental items to analyze cytotoxic, osteoporosis evaluation, change of ALP, osteocalcin, Ca and histological change of tibia. Results : 1. BMD were increased meaningly in DR-HA than control group. 2. ALP was not inhibited by DR-HA, osteocalcin was decreased meaningly in DR-HA. 3. Osteoclast like cell in tibia was increased meaningly in control group, decreased meaningly in DR-HA. 4. In the histological study in tibia, TBV and TBT were significantly increased, GPL was significantly decreased in the DR-HA than control group. Conclusions : From the result above, the results suggest that DR-HA at $KI_{10}$ has significant effect on osteoporosis, and to be put to practical use in the future osteoporosis clinic.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Polygoni avicularis Herba Herbal-acupuncture( PaH-HA) at KI10(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rats. Methods : Rats were allocated into normal, control, and 3 experimental groups. The rats in the control group were intra-peritoneally injected with LPS for nephritis induction. The rats in the groups of experiment 1, experiment 2, and experiment 3 were treated with single needle prick, saline injection, and PaH-HA, respectively at KI10 three times for a week and then injected with LPS. To evaluate the effects of PaH-HA at HI10, WBC count in blood, serum CINC-1, renal TNF-${\alpha}$ and renal MPO were measured. Results : Needle prick at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood and CINC-1 in serum of LPS-stimulated rats. Saline injection at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood. PaH-HA at KI10 suppressed the increase of WBC in blood, CINC-1 in serum, and MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusions : PaH-HA at KI10 has an anti-inflammatory effect on LPS-induced nephritis in rats and there may be a synergism between KI10(Umgok) stimulation and PaH-HA Solution.

Objective & Methods : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Cistanches Herba herbal-acupuncture (CH-HA) at KI10 (Umgok) on osteoporosis induced by ovariectomy in mice. The results were as follows; Results : CH-HA at KI10 significantly inhibited the overgrowth of tibia, the elevation of serum osteocalcin level, the reduction of tibial Ca and P level, the increase of tibial osteoclast like cells, the reduction of tibial TBV (trabecular bone volume), the overgrowth of tibial GPL (growth plate length) in ovariectomized mice. NP at KI10 significantly inhibited the reduction of BMD (bone mineral density) in ovariectomized mice, but CH-HA did not. Conclusion : Taken together, CH-HA at KI10 has a protective or therapeutic effect for osteoporosis in ovariectomized mice. Therefore, it is suggested that CH-HA may be an useful therapeutics in clinical filed after further researches.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Alismatis Rhizoma Herbal-acupuncture( AR-HA) at $KI_{10}$(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rat. Methods : Rats were injected with LPS to induce nephritis. The rats in $KI_{10}$-AR-HA group were treated with AR-HA, $KI_{10}$-NP group with needle prick, $KI_{10}$-saline group with normal saline injection respectively at $KI_{10}$ three times for a week. Several experimental items were performed including measurements of the numbers of RBC, WBC, neutrophil in blood, the levels of creatinine, $TNF-{\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine, MPO in kidney. Results : Needle prick stimulation at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC in blood of LPS-stimulated rats. Saline injection at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC in blood, $TNF-{\alpha}$ in serum, total protein in urine of LPS-stimulated rats. AR-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly reduced WBC, neutrophil in blood, $TNF-{\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusion : AR-HA at $KI_{10}$ has a therapeutic effect on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rat. There may be a synergism between $KI_{10}$(Umgok) stimulation and AR-HA solution.

Objective & Methods : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of herbal-acupuncture with Lycii Fructus (LF-HA) at KI10 (Eumgok) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized (OVX) ddy mice. We carried out several experimental items which were known to be related with osteoporosis. Results : 1. Tibial BMD was significantly increased in the LF-HA group. 2. Tibial Ca level was significantly increased in the LF-HA group. 3. Osteoclast like cell in tibia was significantly decreased in the LF-HA group. 4. Histological change of tibia was improved, the trabecular bone thickness was significantly increased and the growth plate length was significantly decreased in the LF-HA group. Conclusion : These results suggest that LF-HA at KI10 has therapeutic effects on osteoporosis especially by way of suppressing osteoclast cells in ovariectomized ddy mice.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Junci Medulla Herbal-acupuncture(JM-HA) at $KI_{10}$(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rats. Methods : Rats with nephritis induced by LPS, were treated with JM-HA at $KI_{10}$ 3 times a week. The rats in the NP group and the saline group were treated with a needle prick and a saline injection respectively. To evaluate the effects of JM-HA at $KI_{10}$ on nephritis in rats, WBC, neutrophils in blood, BUN, creatinine, TNF-${\alpha}$ in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine and renal MPO were measured. Results : JM-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the increase of WBC and neutrophils in blood, BUN, creatinine, TNF-${\alpha}$ in serum, and MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusion : JM-HA at $KI_{10}$ has therapeutic effects on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rats. Therefore, it is suggested that JM-HA at $KI_{10}$ may be a useful therapy in clinical field after further researches.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Stephaniae tetrandrae Radix Herbal-acupuncture(SR-HA) at KI10(Umgok) on nephritis induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS) in rats. Methods : Male SD rats (n=32) were allocated to four groups; normal, LPS, saline, and SR-HA. The rats in the LPS, saline, and SR-HA groups were injected intra-peritoneally with LPS (2 mg/kg) to induce nephritis. The rats in the saline and SR-HA groups were treated with saline injection and SR-HA respectively at KI10 three times a week. To evaluate the effects of SR-HA at KI10 on nephritis in rats, the authors evaluated the numbers of WBC and neutrophils in blood, and the levels of creatinine, TNF-${\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine and renal MPO. Results : SR-HA at KI10 significantly inhibited the increase of WBC and neutrophils in blood, TNF-${\alpha}$, CINC-1 in serum, creatine, total protein in urine and MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusions : SR-HA at KI10 may have therapeutic effects on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rats.

Methods : The authors performed several experimental items including measurements of urinary volume, WBC in blood, BUN, creatine, TNF-$\alpha$, CINC-1 in serum, creatinine, total protein in urine, TNF-$\alpha$, MPO in kidney and histological analysis of renal tissue. Results : PS-HA at KI10 significantly reduced WBC in blood, BUN, TNF-$\alpha$ in serum of LPS-stimulated rats. PS-HA at KI10 significantly increased urinary volume in LPS-stimulated rats. And PS-HA at KI10 significantly reduced MPO in kidney of LPS-stimulated rats. Conclusion : Taken together, PS-HA at KI10 has a therapeutic effect on nephritis in LPS-stimulated rat. Therefore, it is suggested that PS-HA at KI10 may be an useful therapeutics for nephritis in clinical field.
