기상 및 토양정보가 고랭지배추 단수예측에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Highland Weather and Soil Information on the Prediction of Chinese Cabbage Weight)

  • Highland farming is agriculture that takes place 400 m above sea level and typically involves both low temperatures and long sunshine hours. Most highland Chinese cabbages are harvested in the Gangwon province. The Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) has been deployed to observe Chinese cabbages growth because of the lack of installed weather stations in the highlands. Five representative Chinese cabbage cultivation spots were selected for USN and meteorological data collection between 2015 and 2017. The purpose of this study is to develop a weight prediction model for Chinese cabbages using the meteorological and growth data that were collected one week prior. Both a regression and random forest model were considered for this study, with the regression assumptions being satisfied. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) was used to evaluate the predictive performance of the models. The variables influencing the weight of cabbage were the number of cabbage leaves, wind speed, precipitation and soil electrical conductivity in the regression model. In the random forest model, cabbage width, the number of cabbage leaves, soil temperature, precipitation, temperature, soil moisture at a depth of 30 cm, cabbage leaf width, soil electrical conductivity, humidity, and cabbage leaf length were screened. The RMSE of the random forest model was 265.478, a value that was relatively lower than that of the regression model (404.493); this is because the random forest model could explain nonlinearity.

  • 유전적 조절, 유전자 발현 그리고 환경적 단서, 화학적 신호에 대응하는 표현형 변이에서 세포 RNA는 ubiquitous 역할 이외에도 세포 외 RNA(exRNA)라 하는 새로운 형태의 RNA는 추후 연구의 방향을 제시한다. exRNA는 membrane vesicles 또는 세포 외 소포체(EV)로 알려진 membrane blebs를 통해 세포 외부로 운반된다. EV의 형성은 원핵생물, 진핵생물, 고세균을 포함한 모든 미생물군에 우세하게 보존되어있다. 본 리뷰는 세균 유래 exRNA에 관해 세가지 주제에 초점을 두었다. exRNA의 발견과 박테리아 유전자 배열에 대한 외부 RNA의 영향, b. exRNA의 분비기작을 통한 방출, c. 다른 그람음성 및 그람양성균에 의해 분비되는 exRNA로 고안될 수 있는 응용 가능분야이다. 본 리뷰에서 장내 미생물군의 probiotics 및 후성유전학적 규제에서 본 exRNA와 exRNA마커와 같은 EV파생 응용프로그램에 대한 의견을 제공할 것이다.

통합 센서 모듈을 이용한 농업 환경 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of Agriculture Environment Monitoring System Using Integrated Sensor Module)

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 환경 센서를 이용하여 농작물 재배 환경에 필요한 정보를 수집하고 실시간으로 모니터링 할 수 있는 센서 네트워크 기반의 농업 환경 모니터링 시스템을 제안한다. 기존의 센서 네트워크 기반의 무선 센서 노드들은 대부분 각 센서들의 특성에 따라 별도의 변환/제어 모듈이 필요했다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 본 시스템에서는 농작물 재배지에서 필요로 하는 정보를 얻기 위해 사용되는 여러가지 센서들을 단일 노드에 통합할 수 있는 통합 센서 모듈을 개발한다. 또한 통합 센서 모듈에 맞는 센서 네트워크 모니터링 시스템을 개발한다. 개발된 시스템의 동작 상태를 검증하기 위해 테스트 환경에 통합 센서 노드를 설치하여 설치 환경 정보를 센싱할 수 있도록 하여 실시간으로 모니터링할 수 있게 하였다.

균근연구(菌根硏究)의 농림업(農林業)에의 응용(應用) (Application of Mycorrhizal Research to Agriculture and Forestry)

  • Recently mycorrhizal research has been one of the most fast-growing research areas in modern plant science and microbiology. The application potential of mycorrhizal techniques to agriculture and forestry is enormous in view of the ubiquitous nature of mycorrhizae and known benefits of mycorrhizae to host plants. Unfortunately, very few scientists in Korea are currently involved in mycorrhizal research. When a team of American plant pathologists visited Korea in September 1982 to participate in the Korea-U.S.A. Joint Seminar on Forest Diseases and Insect Pests, they were surprised by the principal author's statement that there was no single research project on mycorrhizae sponsored by Korean government or any scientific institutions. The author initiated a few years ago a research project on the ecology of tree mycorrhizae with a foreign financial support. Major areas of interest were survey of ectomycorrhizae in relation to soil fertility, taxonomic distribution of mycorrhizae among woody plants, identification of ectomycorrhizal fungi, and growth response of woody plants to artificial inoculation. In spite of the enormous application potential of mycorrhizae to agronomic plants, the subject of mycorrhizae has not been recognized by Korean agronomists, foresters or pathologists. The purpose of this review rather written in Korean is to introduce the techniques of mycorrhizal research to Korean scientists and to urge them to participate in challenging new scientific field which might bring us a remarkable increase in crop productivity and tree growth through manipulation of this unique symbiosis. In this review, following topics were discussed in the same order: introduction; brief history of mycorrhizal research; morphology and classification of mycorrhizae; distribution of mycorrhizae in plant kingdom and in soil profile; physiology of mycorrhizae (functions, mineral nutrition, mycorrhizal formation); interaction of mycorrhizae with soil-born plant pathogens. mycorrhizae in nitrogen-fixing plants; application of mycorrhizal techniques to nursery practices (isolation, culture, inoculation, and response); prospect in the future.

Isolation and Characterization of Calmodulin 2 (CICAM2) Gene from Codonopsis lanceolata

  • Calmodulin, a $Ca^{2+}$-binding protein, has no enzyme activity. It combines with $Ca^{2+}$ and makes variable proteins to an active form. Calmodulin 2 is a ubiquitous protein in plants. To investigate the defense mechanism against various stresses, a clone encoding a calmodulin 2 protein was isolated from a cDNA library prepared from taproot mRNAs of Codonopsis lanceolata. The cDNA, designated CICAM2, is 719 nucleotides long and has an open reading frame of 450 bp with a deduced amino acid sequence of 149 residues. The deduced amino acid sequence of CICAM2 showed a high similarity with calmodulins of P. x hybrida (P27163) 97%, N. tabacum (BAB61908) 97%, S. tuberosum (AAA74405) 96%, Z. mays (CAA74307) 92%, C. richardii (AF510075) 93%, M. truncatula (AAM81203) 91%, and G. max (P62163) 91%. The transcriptional expression of the CICAM2 gene, was gradually increased by the CaCl$_2$ treatment. Whereas its expression And it was gradually decreased in the cold stress treatment.ent.

Effect of Alternaria solani Exudates on Resistant and Susceptible Potato Cultivars from Two Different pathogen isolates

  • Early blight of potato, caused by Alternaria solani, is a ubiquitous disease in many countries around the world. Our previous screening of several Iranian potato cultivars found that significant variation in resistance phenotypes exists between two cultivars: resistant 'Diamond' and susceptible 'Granula'. Our previous analysis of five different pathogen isolates also identified varying degrees of aggressiveness regardless of the host cultivar. Here, a bioassay was used to study the role of liquid culture exudates produced in vitro on pathogenicity and elicitation of disease symptomology in seedlings as well as detached leaves. Responses of host genotypes to the exudates of the two A. solani isolates were significantly different. Detached leaves of the resistant cultivar 'Diamond' elicited fewer symptoms to each isolate when compared to the susceptible cultivar 'Granula'. Interestingly, the phytotoxicity effect of the culture filtrate from the more aggressive isolate A was higher than from isolate N suggesting an increased concentration or strength of the toxins produced. Our results are significant because they indicate a correlation between symptoms elicited by A. solani phytotoxins and their aggressiveness on the host.

  • A variety of enteric deseases may result in the manifestation of abdominal pain in horse. An acute colic in a 5-month-old Thoroughbred filly is described. The filly was presented with acute colic characterized by rolling and pawing. Next day she suffered from severe abdominal pain and subsequently died. Post mortem examination revealed very heavy ascarid, Parascaris equorum (P. equrum) infection in cmall intestine. In addition, it is also noted the presence of P. equorum in the stomach. Infection due to P. equorummanifests itself in foals between 6-8weeks and one year of age. P. equorum is a common and ubiquitous parasite that persists for many years in stables and on pasture in spite of good hygiene and anthelmintic control programs.

고랭지배추 생육을 위한 유비쿼터스 센서 네트워크 품질관리 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Ubiquitous Sensor Network Quality Control Algorithm for Highland Cabbage)

  • 농업활동의 위험은 대부분은 기상에 의해 발생한다. 효율적인 농작업을 위해선 기상정보를 활용해야 한다. 현대 농업은 첨단 기술인 ICT와 융합을 통해 고부가가치를 창출하는 방향으로 발전하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 고랭지배추의 효율적인 재배를 위한 USN 관측장비를 통한 기상관측장비의 품질관리 알고리즘을 다룬다. 기상관측에서 정확한 관측이 중요하다. 이를 위해서 기상청에서는 기상관측 장비별로 품질관리 알고리즘을 개발하여 기상정보의 정확성 검증을 통해 정상자료 여부를 판정한 후 이를 활용한다. 연구자료는 2015년부터 2017년까지 3년간 대표적인 고랭지배추 재배지인 안반덕, 귀네미에 설치된 5개 USN 자료이다. 품질관리 알고리즘은 지속성검사, 기후범위검사, 시간변동성검사, 공간분포검사로 구성되어 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서 제안하는 품질관리 알고리즘은 기상자료의 공간적 특성을 고려한 잠재적 이상관측 여부도 확인할 수 있다. 또한 품질관리를 거친 자료를 토대로 고랭지배추와 기상관측자료의 상관성을 분석함으로써 효율적 농산업 관리에 도움이 될 것으로 보여진다.

무선 센서 네트워크를 이용한 농작물 모니터링 시스템 구현 (Implementation of Crops Monitoring System Using Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크를 이용한 농작물 모니터링 시스템을 구현하였으며, 온 습도, 조도, 토양 센서를 이용하여 재배 환경의 정보를 습득하고 이를 통하여 재배지 환경에 대한 자세한 정보를 활용 가능하도록 하였다. 무선 센서 네트워크를 이용한 농작물 모니터링에서 중요한 부분은 무선이라는 제한적인 조건의 환경에서 저전력의 동작으로 정확한 데이터를 송 수신하는 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 재배지의 실외 환경과 실내 환경에 따른 전파 환경 변화에서도 정확한 데이터 전송을 위해 데이터 송수신율과 RSSI에 의한 수신 신호 크기에 대한 테스트를 수행하였고, 이를 토대로 무선 환경에 적합한 센서 노드들의 설치 및 구현 방안을 제시하였다. 구현 결과, 본 논문에서 제안한 농작물 모니터링 시스템은 표준 오차범위 이내에서 정상적으로 동작함을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 논문의 구현을 통해 농업 분야에서 지속 발전이 가능한 기술 선진화의 토대를 구축하는데 기여하고 IT 분야에서는 신기술에 대한 새로운 수요창출의 계기를 마련해 줄 것으로 기대된다.

Genetic mapping and sequence analysis of Phi class Glutathione S-transferases (BrGSTFs) candidates from Brassica rapa

  • Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are multifunctional proteins encoded by a large gene family divided into Phi, Tau, Theta, Zeta, Lambda and DHAR classes on the basis of sequence identity. The Phi(F) and Tau(U) classes are plant-specific and ubiquitous. Their roles have been defined as herbicide detoxification and responses to biotic and abiotic stresses. Fifty-two members of the GST super-family were identified in the Arabidopsis thaliana genome, 13 members of which belong to the Phi class of GSTs (AtGSTFs). Based on the sequence similarities of AtGSTFs, 11 BAC clones were identified from Brassica rapa. Seven unique sequences of ORFs designated the Phi class candidates of GST derived from B. rapa (BrGSTFs) were detected from these 11 BAC clones by blast search and sequence alignment. Some of BrGSTFs were present in the same BAC clones indicating that BrGSTFs could also be clustered as usual in plant. They were mapped on B. rapa linkage group 2, 3, 9 and 10 and their nucleotide and amino acid sequences were highly similar to those of AtGSTFs. In addition, in silico analysis of BrGSTFs using Korea Brassica Genome Project 24K oligochip and microarray database for cold, salt and drought stresses revealed 15 unigenes to be highly similar to AtGSTFs and six of these were identical to one of BrGSTFs identified in the BAC clones indicating their expression. The sequences of BrGSTFs and unigenes identified in this study will facilitate further studies to apply GST genes to medical and agriculture purposes.
