WPS(Wearable Personal Station) for next generation PC can define as a core terminal of 'Ubiquitous Computing' that include information processing and network function and overcome spatial limitation in acquisition of new information. As a way to acquire significant dynamic gesture data of user from haptic devices, traditional gesture recognizer based on desktop-PC using wire communication module has several restrictions such as conditionality on space, complexity between transmission mediums(cable elements), limitation of motion and incommodiousness on use. Accordingly, in this paper, in order to overcome these problems, we implement hand gesture recognition system using fuzzy algorithm and neural network for Post PC(the embedded-ubiquitous environment using blue-tooth module and WPS). Also, we propose most efficient and reasonable hand gesture recognition interface for Post PC through evaluation and analysis of performance about each gesture recognition system. The proposed gesture recognition system consists of three modules: 1) gesture input module that processes motion of dynamic hand to input data 2) Relational Database Management System(hereafter, RDBMS) module to segment significant gestures from input data and 3) 2 each different recognition modulo: fuzzy max-min and neural network recognition module to recognize significant gesture of continuous / dynamic gestures. Experimental result shows the average recognition rate of 98.8% in fuzzy min-nin module and 96.7% in neural network recognition module about significantly dynamic gestures.

In order to become ubiquitous world, the compatibility of wireless machines has become the significant characteristic of a communication terminal. Thus, SDR is the most necessary technology and standard. However, among the environment which has different communication protocol, it's difficult to make a terminal with only hardware using ASIC or SoC. This paper suggests the processor that can accelerate several communication protocol. It can be connected with main-processor, and it is specialized PHY layer of network The C-program that is modeled with the wireless protocol IEEE802.11a and IEEE802.11b which are based on widely used modulation way; OFDM and CDM is compiled with ARM cross compiler and done simulation and profiling with Simplescalar-Arm version. The result of profiling, most operations were Viterbi operations and complex floating point operations. According to this result we suggested a co-processor which can accelerate Viterbi operations and complex floating point operations and added instructions. These instructions are simulated with Simplescalar-Arm version. The result of this simulation, comparing with computing only one ARM core, the operations of Viterbi improved as fast as 4.5 times. And the operations of complex floating point improved as fast as twice. The operations of IEEE802.11a are 3 times faster, and the operations of IEEE802.11b are 1.5 times faster.
The desired level for multimedia services in the mobile web environment, the next generation web environment, is expected to be of PC level quality. And great efforts have been made in the development of hadware technology, communication technology, various kinds of services and standardization to support these services, In the mobile web environment, multimedia contents adaptation services should be available through supporting various kinds of devices, network abilities and users' preferences. It means that due to the variety of both desired devices' hardware specifications, called destinations, and desired QoSes, the QoSes in the destinations are not fixed or defined. If a new user wants to stream multimedia contents in a server through a new kind of terminal device, it should be considered whether the existing transcoders are able to adapt the multimedia contents. However, the existing libraries for multimedia adaptation have heavy transcoder figures which include all adaptive functions in one library, The challenge of universal access is too complex to be solved with these all in one solutions. Therefore, in this paper we propose an application independent multimedia adaptation framework which meets the QoS of new and varied mobile devices. This framework is composed of a group of unit transcoders having only one transcoding function respectively, Instead of heavy transcoders. Also, It includes the transcoder manager supporting the dynamic connections of the unit transcoders in order to satisfy end to end QoS.

In this paper, we propose a real-time sensor node platform that guarantees the real-time scheduling of periodic and aperiodic tasks through a multitask-based software decomposition technique. Since existing sensor networking operation systems available in literature are not capable of supporting the real-time scheduling of periodic and aperiodic tasks, the preemption of aperiodic task with high priority can block periodic tasks, and so periodic tasks are likely to miss their deadlines. This paper presents a comprehensive evaluation of how to structure periodic or aperiodic task decomposition in real-time sensor-networking platforms as regard to guaranteeing the deadlines of all the periodic tasks and aiming to providing aperiodic tasks with average good response time. A case study based on real system experiments is conducted to illustrate the application and efficiency of the multitask-based dynamic component execution environment in the sensor node equipped with a low-power 8-bit microcontroller, an IEEE802.15.4 compliant 2.4GHz RF transceiver, and several sensors. It shows that our periodic and aperiodic task decomposition technique yields efficient performance in terms of three significant, objective goals: deadline miss ratio of periodic tasks, average response time of aperiodic tasks, and processor utilization of periodic and aperiodic tasks.
Given the increased interest in ubiquitous computing, wireless sensor network has been researched widely. The localization service which provides the location information of mobile user, is one of important service provided by sensor network. Many methods to obtain the location information of mobile user have been proposed. However, these methods were developed for only one mobile user so that it is hard to extend for multiple mobile users. If multiple mobile users start the localization process concurrently, there could be interference of beacon or ultrasound that each mobile user transmits. In the paper, we propose APL(Adaptive Power Control based Resource Allocation Technique for Efficient Localization Technique), the localization technique for multiple mobile nodes based on adaptive power control in mobile wireless sensor networks. In APL, collision of localization between sensor nodes is prevented by forcing the mobile node to get the permission of localization from anchor nodes. For this, we use RTS(Ready To Send) packet type for localization initiation by mobile node and CTS(Clear To Send) packet type for localization grant by anchor node. NTS(Not To Send) packet type is used to reject localization by anchor node for interference avoidance and STS(Start To Send) for synchronization between 모anchor nodes. At last, the power level of sensor node is controled adaptively to minimize the affected area. The experimental result shows that the number of interference between nodes are increased in proportion to the number of mobile nodes and APL provides efficient localization.
In this paper, we propose a contextual information and physics-based contents manipulation method for a mobile augmented reality authoring system. Due to proliferation of ubiquitous computing in information technology(IT) and advances in sensor technology and mobile devices, AR systems that were only possible in PC can be now feasible on mobile devices. In addition, many AR systems have been proposed that utilize sensory data and reflect them into. Thus, the proposed method provides appropriate visual cues for 3D manipulations of the augmented contents. In addition, uses can manipulate the augmented contents with sensory information through the assignment of sensors to the contents. Moreover, it supports not only a physics-based contents loader that enables users to specify physics properties into the contents, but also the transform matrix between AR and physics engine coordinates. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, we implemented a mobile augmented reality authoring system. We believe that the proposed method can be a key factor for context-aware mobile AR authoring system.
Sensor network is a network for realizing the ubiquitous computing circumstances, which aggregates data by means of observation or detection deployed at the inaccessible places with the capacities of sensing and communication. To realize this circumstance, data which sensor nodes gathered from sensor networks are delivered to users, in which it is required to encrypt the data for the guarantee of secure communications. Therefore, it is needed to design key management scheme for encoding appropriate to the sensor nodes which feature continual data transfer, limited capacity of computation and storage and battery usage. We propose a key management scheme which is appropriate to sensor networks organizing hierarchical architecture. Because sensor nodes send data to their parent node, we can reduce routing energy. We assume that sensor nodes have different security levels by their levels in hierarchy. Our key management scheme provides different key establishment protocols according to the security levels of the sensor nodes. We reduce the number of sensor nodes which share the same key for encryption so that we reduce the damage by key exposure. Also, we propose key update protocols which take different terms for each level to update established keys efficiently for secure data encoding.
A wireless sensor network(WSN) which roles as a mediator between living environment and computers in ubiquitous computing is very essential research area. Due to the constraint that sensor nodes should work in very resource-restricted circumstances, an operating system that can manage resources effectively is demanded. Also, a sensor network should be able to deal with many events quickly and simultaneously in order to respond to various physical changes in outer environment. The Sensor Network Operating System such as TinyOS, MANTIS and NanoQplus is much designed so that it can satisfy such requirement. But, for programmers who develop application program for sensor networks, they have lack of frameworks which the development is easily possible from restricted development environment. In this paper for this, we implemented a state machine framework apt for responsive systems in NanoQplus which is multi-thread-based sensor network operating system. In addition we propose an event broker module(EBM) for effective event dispatching, a message data structure for message sharing among state machines, and an execution module that handles messages and their queue and performs state transition of the machines. Furthermore, we could do the development more easily an application program with a state-based framework by developing CASE tools.
The technology of Semantic Web realizes the base technology for context-awareness that creates new services by dynamically and flexibly combining various resources (people, concepts, etc). According to the realization of ubiquitous computing technology, many researchers are currently working for the embodiment of web service. However, most studies of them bring about the only predefined results those are limited to the initial description by service designer. In this paper, we propose a new service supporting model to provide an automatic method for plan related tasks which achieve goal state from initial state. The inputs on an planner are intial and goal descriptions which are mapped to the current situation and to the user request respectively. The idea of the method is to infer context from world model by DL-based ontology reasoning using OWL domain ontology. The context guide services to be loaded into planner. Then, the planner searches and plans at least one service to satisfy the goal state from initial state. This is STRIPS-style backward planner, and combine OWL-S services based on AI planning theory that enabling reduced search scope of huge web-service space. Also, when feasible service do not find using pattern matching, we give user alternative services through DL-based semantic searching. The experimental result demonstrates a new possibility for realizing dynamic service modeler, compared to OWLS-XPlan, which has been known as an effective application for service composition.

RFID technology is a technology perceiving information with the device called reader and tag which is now used in public transportation such as Hi-pass. In this paper, we design a system which tracks indoor location using this technology. GPS, the most frequently used location-tracking system, has a defect that its accuracy decreases when the device is indoor. In suggested experiment, we simulate signals according to the moving of located objects, then compare with the result of the experiment. Based on the extracted data, we inform data which is for the purpose of tracking system based on analysis of the route and errors. Simulations for the tracking were performed with relocation of real objects. In the real experiment, we arrange the readers around the room and move the tagged object that we like to know the location, then analyze the data from the equipment. This paper suggests the analyzed data for the future indoor tag tracking applications. We expect that the RFID based location positioning data will be used for other indoor positioning research and development.
