A highly facile and eco-friendly green synthesis of Annona squamosa (custard apple) leaf extract reduced graphene oxide (CRG) nanosheets was achieved by the reduction of graphene oxide (GO). The as-prepared CRG was characterized with X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopic techniques. Removal of oxygen containing moieties from the GO was confirmed by UV-Vis, FT-IR and XPS spectroscopic data. The XRD and Raman data further confirmed the formation of the CRG. TEM images showed the sheet structure of the synthesized CRG. These results show that the phytochemicals present in custard apple leaf extract act as excellent reducing agents. The CRG showed good dispersion in water.

The ferroelectric and electric properties of UV-irradiated bismuth lanthanum titanate (BLT) films prepared using photosensitive starting precursors were characterized. The effects of lanthanum doping on ferroelectric and electric properties were investigated by polarization-electric field hysteresis loops and leakage current-voltage measurements. X-ray diffractometer and ellipsometry were served to provide the information about the crystalline structure and thickness of the films after annealing. The images of the surface microstructure and direct-patterned BLT films were observed by using scanning electron microscopy. The effects of lanthanum doping on the electric properties of direct-pattern able BLT films and their direct-patterning were studied.
Purpose: Soybean growth is adversely affected by environmental stresses such as drought, extreme temperatures, and nutrient deficiency. The objective of this study was to develop a method for rapid measurement of drought stress in soybean plants using a hyperspectral fluorescence imaging technique. Methods: Hyperspectral fluorescence images were obtained using UV-A light with 365 nm excitation. Two soybean cultivars under drought stress were analyzed. A partial least square regression (PLSR) model was used to predict drought stress in soybeans. Results: Partial least square (PLS) images were obtained for the two soybean cultivars using the results of the developed model during the period of drought stress treatment. Analysis of the PLS images showed that the accuracy of drought stress discrimination in the two cultivars was 0.973 for an 8-day treatment group and 0.969 for a 6-day treatment group. Conclusions: These results validate the use of hyperspectral fluorescence images for assessing drought stress in soybeans.
The ZnO thin films doped with Ga and Ge (GZO:Ge) were prepared on glass substrate using RF sputtering system. Structural, morphological and optical properties of the films deposited in different temperatures were studied. Proportion of the element of using target was 97 wt% ZnO, 2.5 wt% Ga and 0.5 wt% Ge with 99.99% highly purity. Structural properties of the samples deposited in different temperatures with 200 w RF power were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscopy, FE-SEM images and x-ray diffraction XRD analysis. Atomic force microscopy, AFM images were able to show the grain scales and surface roughness of each film rather clearly than SEM images. it was showed that increasing temperature have better surface smoothness by FE-SEM and AFM images. Transmittance study using UV-Vis spectrometer showed that all the samples have highly transparent in visible region (300~800 nm). In addition, it can be able to calculate bandgap energy from absorbance data obtained with transmittance. The hall resistivity, mobility, and optical band gap energy are influenced by the temperature.
Spectral solar irradiances were observed using a visible and UV Multi-Filter Rotating Shadowband Radiometer on the rooftop of the Science Building at Yonsei University, Seoul ($37.57^{\circ}N$, $126.98^{\circ}E$, 86 m) during one year period in 2006. 1-min measurements of global(total) and diffuse solar irradiances over the solar zenith angle (SZA) ranges from $20^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}$ were used to examine the effects of clouds and total optical depth (TOD) on enhancing four solar irradiance components (broadband 395-955 nm, UV channel 304.5 nm, visible channel 495.2 nm, and infrared channel 869.2 nm) together with the sky camera images for the assessment of cloud conditions at the time of each measurement. The obtained clear-sky irradiance measurements were used for empirical model of clear-sky irradiance with the cosine of the solar zenith angle (SZA) as an independent variable. These developed models produce continuous estimates of global and diffuse solar irradiances for clear sky. Then, the clear-sky irradiances are used to estimate the effects of clouds and TOD on the enhancement of surface solar irradiance as a difference between the measured and the estimated clear-sky values. It was found that the enhancements occur at TODs less than 1.0 (i.e. transmissivity greater than 37%) when solar disk was not obscured or obscured by optically thin clouds. Although the TOD is less than 1.0, the probability of the occurrence for the enhancements shows 50~65% depending on four different solar radiation components with the low UV irradiance. The cumulus types such as stratoculmus and altoculumus were found to produce localized enhancement of broadband global solar irradiance of up to 36.0% at TOD of 0.43 under overcast skies (cloud cover 90%) when direct solar beam was unobstructed through the broken clouds. However, those same type clouds were found to attenuate up to 80% of the incoming global solar irradiance at TOD of about 7.0. The maximum global UV enhancement was only 3.8% which is much lower than those of other three solar components because of the light scattering efficiency of cloud drops. It was shown that the most of the enhancements occurred under cloud cover from 40 to 90%. The broadband global enhancement greater than 20% occurred for SZAs ranging from 28 to $62^{\circ}$. The broadband diffuse irradiance has been increased up to 467.8% (TOD 0.34) by clouds. In the case of channel 869.0 nm, the maximum diffuse enhancement was 609.5%. Thus, it is required to measure irradiance for various cloud conditions in order to obtain climatological values, to trace the differences among cloud types, and to eventually estimate the influence on solar irradiance by cloud characteristics.
For the present paper, we prepared MgO/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst by using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) pre-oxidized by m-chlorperbenzoic acid (MCPBA) with magnesium acetate tetrahydrate $(Mg(CH_2COO)_2\cdot4H_2O)$ and titanium n-butoxide $(Ti\{OC(CH_3)_3\}_4)$ as magnesium and titanium precursors. The prepared photocatalyst was analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis. The decomposition of methylene blue (MB) solution was determined under irradiation of ultraviolet (UV) light. The XRD results show that the MgO/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst have cubic MgO structure and anatase $TiO_2$ structure. The porous structure and the $TiO_2$ agglomerate coated on the MgO/MWCNT composite can be observed in SEM images. The Mg, O, Ti and C elements can be also observed in MgO/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst from EDX results. The results of photodegradation of MB solution under UV light show that the concentration of MB solution decreased with an increase of UV irradiation time for all of the samples. Also, the MgO/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst has the best photocatalytic activity among these samples. It can be considered that the MgO/MWCNT/$TiO_2$ photocatalyst had a combined effect, the effect of MWCNT, which could absorb UV light to create photoinduced electrons $(e^-)$, and the electron trapping effect of MgO, which resulted in an increase of the photocatalytic activity of $TiO_2$.
We discovered the formation of C60 aggregates in solution by means of photoluminescence spectroscopic study on C60 in solutions. From the in-depth investigation of temperature dependence of the luminescence of C60 in toluene, benzene and CS2 solutions, we reported that the C60 aggregates are formed during cooling at the freezing temperature of these solvents. Furthermore, the C60 aggregates can be changed to stable structures by irradiating with UV pulse-laser (Nd:YAG laser, 355nm). As a consequence, we could obtain nano-scale photo-polymerized C60 clusters, which appear as round-shaped nano- scale particles in high resolution transmission electron-microscopy (HRTEM) images. However, the yield of the nano-scale C60 clusters obtained by this method is too small. So we designed and developed a system to obtain C60 cluster of macroscopic quantity by using ultrasonic nebulizer. In this system, C60 solution was vaporized to several micro-sized droplets in vacuum, resulting in the formation of C60 aggregates by evaporating solvent (toluene). The system was invented to produce nano-scale carbon clusters by the irradiation of UV light upon C60 aggregates in vacuum. We have characterized the products, C60 cluster, obtained from the system by using UV absorption spectra and HPLC spectra. Although the products have a possibility of inclusion various forms of C60 cluster, results support that the product formed from the system by using vaporizer method establishes a new method to obtain C60 cluster in macroscopic quantity. In the presentation, the details of the system and the results of characterization are reported.

The functionalized dendrimer containing 48 azobenzene was synthesized. Many isolated featureless domains were explicitly observed even at the air/water interface. Also, these monolayers were representatively observed, showing the change of surface pressure with irradiation time and wavelength. In AFM images, larger domains irregularly shaped structures on the top, while smaller ones were free from such defects. In the optical absorption spectra of the monolayer films by UV irradiation and heat treatment, only the photoiosmerization of the G4-48 Azo monolayers was observed, revealing a decrease of absorbance peaks without any change of the spectral shape. This suggests that the functional group and the symmetric chain affect optical behavior and morphological change.

We have been monitoring Sgr A*, the radio source at the center of our galaxy, continuously since G2 encounter was predicted. KaVA is a powerful High resolution imaging array at K and Q band, and it has a excellent uv-coverage for Sgr A*. Together with 1-Gbps recording, our observations have provided high-quality images of Sgr A* at Q-band. Our images reveal a scatter-broadened, elliptical Gaussian structure of the source. We found no significant flux or structural variation of Sgr A* in 2013-2014, which is consistent with recent simulations by Kawashima et al. Continuous monitoring in the coming few years would be able to capture the possible flux increase in the source caused by G2, which will lead to better understanding of the accretion process around supermassive black holes.
The spraying status of the electrostatic sprayer was evaluated by processing surface spraying images of the natural leaves. Water solution of the fluorescent material was used as a spray medium. The image of the lights reflected by fluorescent droplets was captured under UV light using a color CCD camera. Coverage rate, particle density, and the size distribution of particles were analyzed from the surface images of leaves under various spraying conditions such as spraying nozzle angle and object distance. Spraying characteristics of the electrostatic sprayer was evaluated in comparison with the conventional one. In a case of electrostatic sprayer, coverage rate and particle density increased by the average of 1.57times and 1.01times respectively under various nozzle angles and distances. The number of particle under the diameter of 50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ also increased significantly.
