Determinants of Behavioral Intention and Usage of Mobile Money Services in Ethiopia (에티오피아 모바일화폐 서비스의 채택의향과 사용행태 결정요인)

  • Mobile Money is a key factor of financial inclusion that can revolutionize the financial service delivery and hence enhance access to finance in emerging economies, especially the East African countries. This study therefore aims to study the determinants of individual's behavioral intention and usage of Mobile Money services in Ethiopia by usiing the UTAUT2 model. The research model was tested by sampling 200 respondents from different areas of Ethiopia. The analysis results found that Government Support, Facilitating Conditions, Performance Expectancy, Trust and Effort Expectancy are the key factors that affect the usage of Mobile Money service, while Lower Transaction Cost factors and Social Influence were not statistically significant. The findings provide useful information that only government's active efforts and support to promote mobile money services, through appropriate policies and regulations rather than lower transaction cost, can facilitate the adoption and dissemination of such services in Ethiopia.

  • Nowadays, more and more organizations are implementing the USE' of emerging enterprise 2.0 applications consciously or unconsciously such as Blogs, Wikis, Social Networks, etc. However, as the end users, employee's attitude toward adoption of enterprise 2.0 applications still lacks theoretical support. On the other hand, many organizations which have implemented enterprise2.0 applications are confused about how to promote employees' use of enterprise 2.0 applications. The purpose of this study aims to provide a conceptual examination the determinants that affect employee's adoption of these enterprise2.0 applications using the revised UTAUT model. To test the model, structural equation modeling will be employed to analyze data collected from two organizations in which experimental tests of enterprise social network platforms are conducted. The findings of this research will show effective and reasonable ways of promoting employees' participations in an enterprise 2.0 environment so as to maximize the benefits generated from implementing enterprise 2.0 applications. This research will also provide a theoretical foundation for academics and practical implications for development of enterprise 2.0 applications.

An Extended UTAUT2 model to Explain the Adoption of Virtual Reality Technology in Health Centers: An Empirical Study Based in Riyadh

  • The adoption of new technology in any organization will represent change, and such change needs user acceptance for its successful implementation. Saudi Arabian health centers are no exception; therefore, the current study will investigate the adoption of new technology, namely that of virtual reality (VR), within health centers in Saudi Arabia and specifically in Riyadh City. This study explores the current state of VR technology adoption, factors that influence such adoption, and the extent of this technology's efficiency when it is used for vaccinating children. The data were collected from two samples: workers in vaccination clinics who responded to a survey and a group of children who participated in the VR technology experiment. The current study proposed a model based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology 2 (UTAUT2), with the addition of two variables: personal innovativeness and satisfaction. The results indicated that the respondents' perceptions regarding the health centers' infrastructure in terms of adopting VR were moderate. Among the factors affecting VR adoption, satisfaction, personal innovativeness, and behavioral intention were identified as vastly influential factors. From the eight hypotheses, six were found to be supported, with their factors significantly influencing behavioral intention with regard to VR technology adoption. Besides, the experiment concerning the use of VR technology on children verified the technique's high efficiency in terms of providing pain management and fear removal. These findings support the continuity of VR technology use, expand its future application fields, and integrate this study into the literature on technology acceptance models for VR adoption, as limited studies have covered this topic; consequently, this will benefit future research in this field.

  • In line with the social changes due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, foreign countries are strengthening information education for the future of education. This study analyzed the current status of software (SW) and artificial intelligence (AI) education among different types of information education programs in elementary schools of major foreign countries, and compared them with the education provided in Korea. Compared to major foreign countries, Korea allocated very little time for software education in elementary schools, making it difficult to sufficiently cover all areas of the curriculum achievement standards. In addition, other countries recognized the importance of artificial intelligence, an important technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and were providing artificial intelligence education on the basis of software education at the national level. The Korean government is also planning on providing the education at national level, but it was identified that the information education of elementary schools have many problematic issues. This study emphasized the need to establish an information curriculum for elementary schools as a way to address these issues.

Technology Adoption of InnovViz 2.0 : A Study of Mixed-Reality Visualization and Simulation System for Innovation Strategy with UTAUT Model

  • InnovVizwas designed and developed anew as avisualization and simulationtool to present innovation and strategy information. The InnovViz system employs two key types of technology, namely mixed reality (MR) and neural network (NN). An experiment was conducted to examine the usability, acceptance and possible adoption of this new system. Participants comprised 4 experts from 4 top performing entrepreneurial firms and 161 master degree students from 2 leading universities. The study used a modified UTAUT model and a cognition and perception model. The results revealed that when the InnovViz was introduced, the key drivers to adoption are Facilitating Conditions (FC) and Voluntary to Use (VOL). Adequate knowledge and sufficient resources were found to strongly affect FC construct. The expert's rating of a firm's innovation and performance was more congruent with senior students with a technology-background than with a finance and accounting-background. InnovViz was seen as providing complex information with an ease of use and usefulness for showing data and assessment. Among the three types of visuals depicted by InnovViz, experts rated their usefulness in descending order as follows: Cube, Tetrahedron and Saturn. Finally, experts found backward simulation to be slightly more useful for assessment than forward simulation.

A Study on Factors Affecting Usage Intention of Metaverse Services in the Work Environment (업무환경에서의 메타버스 사용의도에 대한 영향요인 연구)

  • Metaverse is one of the most frequently used words recently, with digitalization accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2019 and the development of information and communication technology. It is expected to bring a new revolution in our life as a whole in user experience. In particular, as telecommuting was adopted in the business area, interest in virtual office services such as digital video conferencing and remote offices, which are similar to the metaverse, has also increased. In this study, a study on the intention to use the metaverse service used in the work environment was applied to the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2(UTAUT2). External variables for metaverse characteristics, such as self-presentation, telepresence, and technostress, were analyzed and discussed. In this study, PC-based Gather.town and VR-based Facebook Horizon, currently the most well-known and considered usable in work environments, were introduced to potential users and conducted a survey. This study has academic implications in that the research has examined the factors that affect the technology acceptance intention of users who want to apply the metaverse as a work environment based on the UTAUT2 model, unlike previous studies that have been mainly researched on the general metaverse. In practice, it may be helpful to suggest factors that should be considered when firms adopt the metaverse for business purposes.

The Research of Exploring Factors Impact on User's Continuance Usage of Chinese Short-clip Application: Based on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and use of Technology (UTAUT) and Flow Theory (중국 쇼트 클립 어플리케이션 지속 이용의도 연구: 플로우 이론과 통합기술수용모형을 바탕으로)

  • This research explored how the various of factors including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence and facilitating conditions and some external factors consisting of critical mass, attention, perceived enjoyment, and time distortion had impacts on users' usage of short-clip application based on flow theory and the UTAUT model. The research employed SEM with 263 valid questionnaires. The results showed that social influence and satisfaction factors had positive impacts in sustainable usage of mobile short-clip application, while the other factors have no special effect on it. The results also indicated that time distortions had a negative effect in the intention of continuous usage. Furthermore, performance expectancy, perceived enjoyment, and time distortions had positive impacts in users' satisfaction. The beneficial effects of critical mass on social influence had been recognized through this study.

  • This study aims to present policy implications by analyzing information security behavior factors of internet users. The research model, based on PMT and UTAUT2, consists of perceived threat, severity, social influence, self-efficacy, experience and habits, PC and privacy behaviors, security behaviors on new services and set demographic characteristics, use places of internet, use of paid products, and experiences of accident as moderate variables to analyze the effect on security behavior. The results showed that perceived severity, self-efficacy significantly influenced on experience and habits, and experience and habits and self-efficacy had a high influence on PC and privacy behavior. Also, PC and privacy behaviors have a high impact on security behavior of new services. Age, income, use of paid products, and experience of accidents have a moderating effects on security behaviors. The results of this study are expected to help policy decision making to improve the level of information security of internet users.

  • A bitcoin-based technology named blockchain is garnering attention in various industries as a cost-effective measure in strengthening security and a reliable technology medium. Blockchain technology will play a critical role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and IT technology is expected to bring fundamental changes. This study focuses on the characteristics of blockchain technology and the effects of the intention to accept its technology in an empirical manner. The aspects of the technology are organized by researching blockchain technology and theories of technology acceptability and previous studies were used as guidelines to create the research model and propose the hypothesis. The research model is based on UTAUT with a set-up of 5 factors for performance expectancy and effort expectancy. For empirical analysis, a survey was conducted on 283 IT workers in Korea, To examine the hypothesis structural equation modeling was used performance expectancy was influenced by security, reliability, diversity, and economic efficiency while effort expectancy was influenced by reliability and economic efficiency. Performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions affect the intention to accept. Innovativeness of an organization and control effects are influenced as well. The present study aims to provide practical guidance as supplementary research in utilizing blockchain technology, and the limitations of the study and future research possibilities are discussed as well.

Roles of Trust in Technology Acceptance of Augmented Reality (증강현실(AR) 기술 수용에 있어서 신뢰성의 역할)

  • Various studies have been conducted on factors influencing the adoption of new technologies. In particular, the factors influencing customers' acceptance of new technologies that emerged along with the arrival of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Theoretical models are mainly based on the technology acceptance model (TAM) or Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology : UTAUT2). However, there are no trust variables in these models. In this study, we added trust variable and tested augmented reality(AR). Three types - trust as an independent variable, as a mediating variable, and as a moderating variable - were analyzed statistically. As a result, trust was most explanatory when viewed as a mediating variable between independent variables and intention to use. In theory, it has been shown that trust acts as a mediating effect. In practice, trust is most important in accepting new technologies, so it is important to prioritize trust.
