  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how certain factors-especially dietitians' general characteristics and job burnout-influence their job satisfaction and turnover intention. The survey was conducted during the period from September 7th to October 15th of 2006. A total of 91 institutions(response rate 74.6%) was analyzed by using SPSS(windows ver. 14.0). A majority of the respondents were females(97.8%) and 30 years or older(66.0%). Among the job burnout dimensions, exhaustion($2.78{\pm}0.07$) was rated higher than cynicism($2.62{\pm}0.06$), while the professional efficacy level($3.55{\pm}0.05$) was relatively high. The dietitians were more satisfied with co-workers($3.73{\pm}0.07$) and work($3.41{\pm}0.06$) than with pay($2.66{\pm}0.07$) and promotion($2.32{\pm}0.07$). The work dimension of job satisfaction was negatively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout, and turnover intention(p<0.001), but positively correlated with professional efficacy dimension(p<0.001). The supervision dimension was negatively correlated with cynicism(p<0.05) and turnover intention(p<0.001), but positively correlated with professional efficacy dimension(p<0.01). The co-workers dimension was positively correlated with professional efficacy dimension(p<0.01). The pay dimension was negatively correlated with exhaustion(p<0.001) and cynicism(p<0.01) dimensions and turnover intention(p<0.001). The promotion dimension was negatively correlated with cynicism(p<0.01). The turnover intention was positively correlated with exhaustion and cynicism dimensions of job burnout(p<0.001). A hierarchical regression analysis revealed that i) professional efficacy was a factor to significantly increase job satisfaction, ii) cynicism to significantly decrease their job satisfaction, and iii) exhaustion to significantly increase turnover intention.

  • This research is conducted to analyze the relationship between occupational stress and turnover intention. The object of research is software developers in Chinese large firms. A number of 309 cases are used for the empirical study. A multiple regression is adapted to test the proposed hypothesis. The results reveal that occupational stress has a meaningful effect on job burnout; exhaustion, cynicism, and inefficacy lead to turnover intention; job burnout mediates between occupational stress and turnover intention. It is suggested that managers need to design a structural HR mechanism for workers in order not to experience occupational stress.

  • In this paper, I show the factors which have an effect on the emotional exhaustion and turnover intention in call center workers who perform emotional labor using telephone without direct confronting with clients. I empirically show that emotional exhaustion decreases job satisfaction and increases turnover intention. Therefore the emotional exhaustion is the important managing factor for efficient management of call center. To weaken emotional exhaustion, it is necessary to decrease time pressure in call center work. To weaken turnover intention, it is important to strengthen superior support. This study makes a contribution in providing the fact that emotional exhaustion is an important managing factor in administration of call center worker.

The subjects of the study were 418 nursing and administrative workers engaged in hospitals and general hospitals in Busan. Frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted for empirical analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, significant differences in some research variables were identified according to gender, age, educational background, marital status, and working years. Depending on the job type, there were significant differences in all variables such as role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload, career commitment, and turnover intention. Second, role stress was found to have a significant negative effect on career commitment and a significant positive effect on turnover intention. Among the role stress, it was confirmed that the role overload had the strongest influence on career commitment and turnover intention.
