Turbulent flow-induced vibrations generate the structural fatigue and noise problems. In this paper, using Corcos, Smol' yakov-Tkachenko, Ffowcs Williams and Chase models, the input power generated by distributed fluid force is predicted for power flow analysis (PFA) of turbulent flow-induced vibration. Additionally, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is used to raise the calculation efficiency PFA results obtained are compared with the classical modal solutions for verifications. Analytic results using the fluid models show good agreements with those of modal analysis, respectively.

In this paper, wind tunnel tests of a scaled wind turbine have been performed to investigate the effects of turbulent intensity of oncoming flow on turbine wake field. The scaled turbine model was carefully designed to satisfy the similarity conditions. The wind velocities and turbulent intensities were measured using hotwire anemometer in order to compare with existing wake model. It was found from the tests that the existing wake models well fit with test results at turbulent flow rather than at uniform flow. Finally modified wake model has been proposed based on the measured data.

Acoustic power transmission loss(TL) is an important performance of the muffler system. TL will be affected by the velocity of the fluid in duct since acoustic pressure varies according to the fluid velocity. In this paper, two kinds of fluid model, potential flow and turbulent flow, for the fluid flowing in simple expansion chamber are considered. The effects of their two fluid models in acoustic TL are investigated for the straight and L-shaped simple expansion chamber. In higher frequency range, the characteristics of TL of the two fluid models show different results. The variation of TL according to the fluid velocity is shown more distinctly when turbulence model is used. Turbulent flow model should be used to obtain better estimation of acoustic TL in higher frequency range.

This study deals with jet impingement, which is extensively used in the process industries to achieve intense heating, cooling or drying rates and also widely employed as a test flow for turbulent models due to its complex flow configuration, on a flat plate by numerical methods. In this calculation, the finite volume method was employed to solve the Navier-stokes equation based on the non-orthogonal coordinate with non-staggered variable arrangement. To get a better understanding for the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of the turbulent jet impingements, $k-{\varepsilon}-{\overline{v^{'2}}}$ turbulent model was adapted and compared with the experimental data and the result of standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. Numerical calculations were carried out with various flow rates, nozzle to plate distances. In the case of the axisymmetric jet impingement on a flat plate, $k-{\varepsilon}-{\overline{v^{'2}}}$ turbulent model showed better agreement with the experimental data than the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model in the prediction of the mean velocity profiles, the turbulent velocity profiles. the turbulent shear stress and the heat transfer rate. The highest heat transfer rate can be obtained when the impingement occurs within the potential core..

Nonlinear relationship between Reynolds stresses and the rate of strain of nonlinear k-$\varepsilon$models is evaluated theoretically by using the boundary layer assumptions against the turbulence-driven secondary flows in noncircular ducts and then their prediction performance is validated numerically through the application to the fully developed turbulent flow in a square duct. Typical predicted quantities such as mean axial and secondary velocities, turbulent kinetic energy and Reynolds stresses are compared with available experimental data. The nonlinear k-$\varepsilon$ model adopted in a commercial code is found to be unable to predict accurately duct flows with the prediction level of secondary flows one order less than that of the experiment.
The turbulent flow with wake, reattachment and recirculation flow is very important from the viewpoint of engineering. But that is still difficult because of especially the unsteady problems which are related with the vehicle dynamics and the aerodynamics noise. This paper evaluate LES that can analyze about all fluid flow region including the laminar, transition and turbulent. So we compare the results of LES with those of PIV measurement and Reynolds averaging models. In conclusion, LES predicts flow behavior better than Reynolds averaging models.
Roles of reactor internals are to support nuclear fuel, provide insertion and withdrawal channels of nuclear fuel control rods, and carry out core cooling. In case of functional loss of the reactor internals, it may lead to severe accidents caused by damage of nuclear fuel assembly and deterioration of reactor vessel due to attack of fallen out parts. The present study is to examine fluid flows in reactor internals subjected to hydrodynamic loads. In this context, an integrated model was developed and applied to two kinds of numerical analyses; one is to analyze periodic loading effect caused by pump pulsation and the other is to analyze random loading effect employing different turbulent models. Acoustic pressure distributions and flow velocity as well as pressure and temperature fields were calculated and compared to establish appropriate analysis techniques.
The flow analysis is made to simulate the turbulent flow in the pipe with an obstacle. The models used are k-$\epsilon$, k-$\omega$, Spalart-Allmaras and Reynolds. The structured grid is used for the simulation The velocity vector, the pressure contour, the change of residual along the iteration number and the dynamic head are simulated for the comparison of four example cases. For the analysis, the commercial code is used.

Analysis of the uncertainty to have engineering solution of gas-dynamic and hydrodynamic problems is based on the comparison the prospective engineering solution with experimental result. In this paper, the mathematical model to estimate heat flux along gas-dynamic channel wall and the solution sequence are shown. Statistical information and generalizing experimental characteristics about gas- and hydro-dynamic channels were applied to the mathematical model. As the results, it is possible to draw a conclusion that models of the integrated approach, using the averaged statistical data of generalizing characteristics for a turbulent flow, without consideration of the turbulent mechanism (characteristic pulsations), can predict a nominal operating regime for gas-dynamic and hydrodynamic systems. The probable deviation of operating regime for newly designed the gas-dynamic channel can achieve 20% from a regime predicted on a basis 1-D or 3-D modelling irrespective of a kind of used models.
Three dimensional turbulent flow fields around ships are simulated by a numerical method. Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are used where Reynolds stresses are approximated by Baldwin-Lomax and Sub-Grid Scale(SGS) turbulence models. Body-fitted coordinate system is introduced to conform three dimensional ship geometries. The governing equations are discretized by a finite volume method. Temporal derivatives are approximated by the forward differencing and the convection terms are approximated by the QUICK or Kawamura scheme. The 2nd-order centered differencing is used for other spatial derivatives. Pressure and velocity fields are simultaneously iterated by the Highly Simplified Marker-And-Cell method. To verity the numerical method and turbulence models, flow fields around ships are simulated and compared to the experiments.
