The manufacturing process of the amorphous transformer core consists of winding, cutting, forming, annealing. Clamping of cores during this process are required for shape forming. Clamping of cores enhances the space factor, but degrades the magnetic properties and core loss characteristics of the cores. In this study, we investigated the optimal clamping pressure required in magnetic field annealing of 5 kVA amorphous transformer core.

The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and low loss. In this paper, the proto type mold transformer of 50kVA class is investigated by routine, type, special test. The outdoor energized aging test is investigated by back-to-back method to verify the long time performance of pole mold transformer. The aging process of transformer is analyzed by various diagnosis method such as DC voltage-current test, $tan{\delta}$, Meggar measurement, winding temperature and etc.

The LLC series resonant converter with a LLT (Inductor-Inductor-Transformer) transformer design process and experimentation results for PDP TV power supply is presented. LLT transformer used to combine the inductor and transformer into one unit has the increased leakage inductance in the primary and secondary due to the winding method and the use of the gaped core. The increased leakage inductance in the primary and secondary of LLT transformer can be impacted on the DC voltage gain characteristics of LLC series resonant converter, In this paper, DC gain characteristics and the experimental results of the LLC series resonant converter with a LLT transformer are verified on the Math-CAD simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 600W experimental prototype.
According to the recent design of an HTS (High Temperature Superconducting) power transformer whose capacity is hundreds MVA, the rated current values of the low voltage side are generally over thousands amps. Considering the performance of the recent HTS wires, it is inevitable to use several HTS wires in parallel for large rated current. Lots of stacked HTS wires were fabricated and tested so far, and the results have showed that we have to transpose each wire in order to reduce the AC losses as well as to increase the current capacity. But many development programs about HTS transformers reveal that the transposition of the several wires during the winding process is quite difficult not only in case of the layer windings but also in case of the pancake type ones. So, we need transposed multiple HTS wire which we can handle like single wire or cable for the HTS windings of large capacity power transformer. We fabricated several kinds of samples of multiple HTS wire with transposition to apply it to the HTS windings of power transformer. The electrical characteristics such as critical currents or AC losses are analyzed by experiments in case by case. Finally we present the best design of a multiple HTS wire for power transformer.

In pulsed-power techniques. Marx generator is generally used for the high-power device. but this generator has insulation and spatial problems. So we will suggest a pulse transformer that has a small size to generate the high voltage pulse instead of Marx generator. In this paper, Pulse duration is 4 [${\mu}s$] and the ratio of input and output voltage is 40[kV]/200[kV](step-up ratio=5). The output voltage and the process of pulse compression for pulse circuit are simulated by EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transient Program). The secondary voltage of pulse transformer is about 200[kV] and pulse width is 4[t/s]. When the secondary winding of the pulse transformer is saturated. the pulse width is 1.25[${\mu}s$]. We selected dummy load 50[$\Omega$] for impedance matching. The pulse voltage of dummy load is 100[kV] and pulse width is 500[ns].
In this article, the fundamental concept, characteristics and application potentials of coreless printed-circuit-board (PCB) transformers are described. Coreless PCB transformers do not have the limitations associated with magnetic cores, such as the frequency limitation, magnetic saturation and core losses. In addition, they eliminate the manual winding process and its associated problems, including labor cost, reliability problems and difficulties in ensuring transformer quality in the manufacturing process. The parameters of the printed windings can be precisely controlled in modern PCB technology. Because of the drastic reduction in the vertical dimension, coreless PCB transformers can achieve high power density and are suitable for applications in which stringent height requirements for the circuits have to be met. A transformer's power density of $24W/cm^2$ has been reported in a power conversion application. When used in an isolation amplifier application, coreless PCB transformers tested so far enable the amplifier to achieve a remarkable linear frequency range of 1MHz, which is almost eight times higher than the frequency range of 120kHz in existing Integrated-Circuit products. PCB materials offer extremely high isolation voltage, typically from 15kV to 40kV, which is higher than many other isolation means such as optocouplers. It is envisaged that coreless PCB transformers can replace traditional core-based transformers in some industrial applications. Their application potentials deserve more attention and exploration.

Cast-resin transformers are widely installed in various electrical power systems because of their low operating cost and low influence on external environmental factors. However, when they have an internal defect during the manufacturing process or operation, a partial discharge (PD) occurs, and eventually destroys the insulation. In this paper, a Rogowski-type PD sensor was studied to replace commercial PD sensors used for the insulation diagnosis of power apparatus. The proposed PD sensor was manufactured with four different types of PCB-based winding structures, and it was analyzed in terms of the detection characteristics for standard calibration pulses and the changes of the output voltage according to the distance. The output increased linearly in accordance with the applied discharge amount. It was confirmed that the hexagon structure sensor had the highest sensitivity, because the winding cross-sectional area of the sensor was larger than others. In addition, as the distance from the defect increased, the output voltage of the sensors decreased by 7.32% on average. It was also confirmed that the attenuation rate according to the distance decreased as the input discharge amount increased. For the application of this new type sensor, PD electrode system was designed to simulate the void defect. Waveforms and PRPD patterns measured by the proposed PD sensors at DIV and 120% of DIV were the same as the results measured by MPD 600 based on IEC 60270. The proposed PD sensors can be installed on the inner wall of the transformer tank by coating its surfaces with a non-conductive material; therefore, it is possible to detect internal defects more effectively at a closer distance from the defect than the conventional sensors.
Aiming at analyzing the power flow of the distribution systems with distribution transformer (DT) branches and PV nodes, a hybrid three-phase power flow methodology is presented in this paper. The incidence formulas among node voltages, loop currents and node current injections have been developed based on node-branch incidence matrix of the distribution network. The method can solve the power flow directly and has higher efficiency. Moreover, the paper provides a modified method to model DT branches by considering winding connections, phase shifting and off-nominal tap ratio, and then DT branches could be seen like one transmission line with the proposed power flow method. To deal with the PV nodes, an improved approach to calculate reactive power increment at each PV node was deduced based on the assumption that the positive-sequence voltage magnitude of PV node is fixed at a given value. Then during calculating the power flow at each iteration, it only needs to update current injection at each PV node with the proposed algorithm. The process is very simple and clear. The results of IEEE 4 nodes and the modified IEEE 34 nodes test feeders verified the correctness and efficiency of the proposed hybrid power flow algorithm.

We propose a 2.4-GHz CMOS power amplifier (PA) with a bypass structure to improve the power-added efficiency (PAE) in the low-power region. The primary winding of the output transformer is split into two parts. One of the primary windings is connected to the output of the power stage for high-power mode. The other primary winding is connected to the output of the driver stage for low-power mode. Operation of the high power mode is similar to conventional PAs. On the other hand, the output power of the driver stage becomes the output power of the overall PA in the low power mode. Owing to a turning-off of the power stage, the power consumption is decreased in low-power mode. We designed the CMOS PA using a 180-nm RFCMOS process. The measured maximum output power is 27.78 dBm with a PAE of 20.5%. At a measured output power of 16 dBm, the PAE is improved from 2.5% to 12.7%.
The ionizer module used in this air cleaner supplies high voltages of 3.5KV / -4KV to the discharge electrode HV+ / HV- using a winding transformer to generate positive and negative ions by electric field radiation of carbon fiber brush. The ionizer module circuit using the existing MCU has the disadvantage of large PCB size and expensive price, and the gate driver chip using the existing ring oscillator has oscillation period sensitive to PVT (Process-Voltage-Temperature) fluctuation and there is risk of fire or electric shock because there is no fault detection function by short circuit of HV+ and GND as well as HV- and GND. Therefore, in this paper, even though PVT fluctuates, by using 7-bit binary up counter, HV+ voltage reaches the target voltage by adjusting oscillation period. And an HV+ short fault detection circuit for detecting a short circuit between HV+ and GND, an HV- short fault detection circuit for detecting a short circuit between HV- and GND, and an OVP (Over-Voltage Protection) for detecting that HV+ rises above an overvoltage are newly proposed.
