  • A new controller design algorithm based on the Hessenberg form for linear control systems has een proposed. The controller is composed of the dynamic compensator and the state feedback (dynamic state feedback). The algorithm gives a simple way to assign the eigenstructure (eigenvalues and eigenvectors) of the closed loop system and it also provides a method to assign the frequency shapes near the corner frequencies of the closed loop transfer function matrix. Because of this property, the algorithm is called the independent frequency shape control (IFSC) method.

  • In this paper, we propose a mthod to decouple the multi-input multi-output two-dimensional system. Then, we analyze the realization dimension of the feedback, feedforward given to decouple. Moreover, we consider the possibility of the reduction of the dynamical dimension needed to decouple. Besides, in order to stabilize the decoupled two-dimensional system, we suggest a method to assign the poles of each entry of the transfer function matrix to the desired positions.

  • Vertical pump are widely used owing to the fact that they occupy small floor space. In this type of pumps, however, the vibrational problems are very important, since, in many cases, they have less stiffness in comparison with later pumps. This study presents a simple solution method for calculating the natural frequencies and modes of vertical pumps. In this study, a model of a vertical pump was developed and the nondimensional parameters for the vibrational characteristics of it were determined. Added mass was calculated for the effects of water and the transfer matrix method was used.

  • The optimal Input design problem for linear system Which have the common parameters in the system and noise transfer functions. Exploiting the assumed Model structure and deriving the information matrix structure in detail, D-optimal open-loop stochastic input can be realized as an ARMA process under the Input or output variance constraints. In spite of the reduced order, It Is necessary to develop an efficient algorithms for the optimation with respect to the .rho..

  • In the WKB analysis, we propose the new forms of the trial eigenfunctions which not only converge at the turning points but also approximate to the conventional WKB solutions away from the turning points. The eigenvalue equation of multiple waveguides with graded index profile are derived by using the proposed WKB analysis and the transfer matrix method. The drived equation sare represented in the recursive form. The results of the eigenvalue equation sare comapred with those of the FDM, one of the well-known computational methods, for a three-waveguide coupler.

  • The transfer matrix method is proposed to compensate the attachment effect of a piezo-electric impedance head. To validate the proposed method, an experiment is carried out for axial vibration of a uniform rod for which an analytical solution is known. The impedance head is attached to the test rod by a stud and is connected to the exciter. The frequency response function is mesured by applying random excitation from the electro-magnetic exciter. The frequency response function compensated by the method proposed in this research shows good agreement with the analytical solution.

  • This paper considers the problem of the optimal input design for parameter estimtion in the ARMAX model in which the system and noise transfer function have the common denominator polynomial. Deriving the information matrix, in detail, for the assumed model structure and using the autocorrelation functin of the filtered input as design variables, it is shown that D-optimal input signal can be realized as an autoregressive moving average process. Computer simulations are carried out to show the standard-deviation reduction in the parameter estimtes using the optimal input signal.

  • We have proposed and theoretically verified an optical regenerator using a single semi-reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (SR-SOA). To explain the operation characteristics and the operation condition of the proposed opticalregenerator, the simplified gain model for the SR-SOA is introduced and confirmed by comparing the result of the SOA simulation based on the transfer matrix method (TMM). The simulation results show that both extinction ratio (ER) enhancement and signal amplification can be achieved in the proposed regenerator.
