This paper deals with strength analysis of tooth and method of manufacture of external tooth profile in harmonic drive. From the calculation of load imposed on the contact teeth, moximum contact stress is investigated to design the addendum modification coefficient. New tooth profile of the external gear is generated according to the law of gearing, assuming that internal gear has involute tooth profile. External tooth profile can't be manufactured by conventional exclusive tools which have pressure angle of 20$\circ$. The method to design cutter tooth profile is presented.

Optimum design of the tooth surface for the reduction of transmission error is very difficult to determine analytically due to nonlinearity of transmission error under the several load condition. The design of tooth surface that can give a low noise under the various load condition is very important. Therefore, this study proposes the method to determine the optimal lead curve and robust design of the tooth surface by using the response surface method. To do so, the design variables are selected by a screening experiment. Then the fitted regression model Is built with the check of the usefulness of the model. The model with constraints is solved to obtain the optimum values for the lead curve and the robust design fur the tooth surface.
In the conventional gerotor design, the circular arc tooth of the outer rotor is first introduced, and then the inner rotor profile is generated by simulating the outer rotor motion while the inner rotor is fixed. The profile generation of tooth meshing exhibits relativity; therefore, the outer rotor profile can be generated by the movement of the inner rotor. In this study, we propose the design of a gerotor with a pin-tooth inner rotor. First, the pin-tooth inner rotor is devised, and then the outer rotor profile is generated. The profile of the inner rotor is simply composed of equally arranged pins along a circle. The root of the inner rotor is designed as a conjugated arc of two pins. The trajectory of the pin center is obtained by the inner rotor operation, and then the outer rotor profile is determined as a parallel curve of the trajectory. In this gerotor design, the inner rotor has a simple configuration, and contact occurs between the pin parts of the inner rotor and the whole profile of the outer rotor. This affects the material selection and machining process. The pin tooth can be used to design the outer and inner rotors, enabling a double gerotor mechanism corresponding to a planetary gear system.

This paper introduces novel a two-phase permanent magnet BLDC (PMBLDC) motor with both an asymmetric tooth and an auxiliary tooth in order to improve the dead point, efficiency and torque ripple. To calculate the merits of introducing each of the asymmetric tooth and the auxiliary tooth, characteristic analysis is performed respectively using finite element method (FEM). To maximize performance, we propose a novel model which combines the asymmetric tooth and the auxiliary tooth. To maximize the efficiency of the novel model, an optimal design is processed using the Kriging method and a genetic algorithm. Finally, an experiment is used to confirm the initial and optimal design results.

The basic concept of 'tooth profile modification' to change a part of the involute profile to reduce the load in that area and appropriate profile modifications can help gears to run quietly and resist scoring, pitting and tooth breakage. In this study, the modification of tooth profile to make a smooth transmission of the normal loads in spur gears has been developed. The modified tooth profile has been determined by the total deflection at contact points. We use the AGMA Standard to design basic gear profile. We also developed a gear design program using tooth profile modification.

Internal gear is the important part of the planetary reduction gear system. This study aims at developing the numerical analysis method for design of spherical hob to manufacture internal gear. Methods of calculation of hob tooth profile, generating tooth profile and tooth profile errors such as the errors of pressure angle, tooth thickness and pitch of spherical hob must be made smaller than those of standard tooth profile. And, the smaller the pressure angle and the number of equivalent pinion tooth become, the larger the tooth profile errors are. One design example of spherical hob is proposed.
A counter gear transmits the rotation angle, so the angular velocity ratio of the gear does not necessarily need to be constant in the meshing process. As a pinion has a small number of teeth when combined with an internal gear for counters, tooth interference can occur with the use of an involute curve. This paper introduces circular arcs that represent a tooth profile and fillet for the profile design of a pinion through the combination of arcs with lines. The straight line of a rack tooth represents the profile of a mating internal gear. Thus, the circular arc and line maintain contact during the rotation of the counter gear. This paper presents an analysis of the meshing of the circular arc tooth and rack tooth along with the properties of the counter gear, such as the change in rotational velocity and amount of backlash. The contact ratio of the counter gear is 1 because the tooth contact occurs between circular arcs and line. The initial position of tooth contact, which denotes the simultaneous contact of two teeth, is found. As the rotation of the pinion, only one tooth keeps the contact situation. This meshing property is analyzed by the geometrical constraints of the tooth profile in contact and the results are presented as graphical diagrams in which tooth-arc movements are superimposed.

The laser reflexion method is a new technique which permits precise contactless measurement and observation of tooth mobility as well as tooth movement. The purposes of this study were to clarify the reliability of the laser reflexion method in clinical application and to measure the abutment tooth movement according to clasp design. This study was designed to determine 1) How much a bending movement of the impression plate stand affects the position of the reflexion pattern and how precise the patient bites into plate 2) Which clasp design causes greater movement of the abutment tooth. Under medium and maximum bite forces, tests were performed on central loading position which was 13mm distal to terminal abutment tooth of distal extension removable partial denture. The movement in the mesiodistal and buccolingual directions was measured. The Duncan's New Multiple-Range test was used to compare the means for the four castings under each direction-load combination; and the paired sample t-test was for medium and maximum bite forces. From this experiment, the following results were obtained. 1. The Roach clasp, the combination clasp, the RPI clasp, and the Akers clasp did not significantly differ in their effects on buccolingual movement of the abutment tooth. 2. The direction of abutment tooth movement was not significantly altered by clasp design and all abutment tooth movements were oriented distobuccally. 3. Under medium bite force, the Akers clasp caused greater distal movement of the abutment tooth than did the combination clasp and the RPI clasp. Under maximum bite force, the Akers clasp caused greater distal movement of the abutment tooth than did the RPI clasp. 4. The testing apparatus and procedures used in this study(laser reflexion method) proved to be reliable in clinical application.
