  • This paper proposes a color matching 3D look-up table simplifying the complex color matching procedure between a monitor and a mobile display device. In other to perform color matching, it is necessary to process color of image in the device independent color space like CIEXYZ or CIELAB. To obtain the data of the device independent color space from that of the device dependent RGB color space, we must perform display characterizations. LCD characterization error using S-curve model is larger than tolerance error since LCD is more nonlinear than CRT. This paper improves the S-curve model to have smaller characterization error than tolerance error using the electro-optical transfer functions of X, Y, and Z value. We obtained images having higher color fidelity on mobile display devices through color matching experiments between monitor and mobile display devices. As a result of this experiments, we concluded that the color matching look-up table with 64(4${\times}$4${\times}$4) is the smallest size allowing characterization error to be acceptable.

  • As the requirement of LCD products which are large screen and have high brightness increases, the role of light guide panel (LGP) of which micro-features diffuse the light uniformly on surface is getting important. In general, there are many errors in machining like machine tool errors process error, setup error and etc. The amount of setup error in general machining is not so big in comparison with the others, so it is mostly neglected. But, especially in v-groove micromachining, setup error has a significant effect on micro-features. Low quality product and high cost are resulted from setup error. In v-groove micromachining, to confirm the effect of setup error, it is identified and then setup error synthesis model is derived from analysis of tool and workpiece setup. In addition, to predict the micro-features affected by setup error and enhance the production efficiency, the setup condition satisfying the tolerance of micro-features is geometrically analyzed and presented.

  • Radiation particles can introduce temporary errors in memory systems. To protect against these errors, so-called soft errors, error detection and correcting codes are used. In addition, scrubbing is applied which is a fundamental technique to avoid the accumulation of soft errors. This paper introduces an optimal scrubbing scheme, which is suitable for a system with auto error detection and correction logic. An auto error detection and correction logic can correct soft errors without CPU's writing operation. The proposed scrubbing scheme leads to maximum reliability by considering both allowable scrubbing load and the periodic accesses to memory by the tasks running in the system.

  • By employing the concept of equivalent linkage, this paper presents an analytical method for analyzing the mechanical errors of disk cam mechanisms with a flat-faced follower. The resulting error equations do not really involve the location of the curvature center of the cam profile, and locating the curvature center of the cam profile is not essential. The resulting errors are significantly affected by the pressure angle, and the smaller pressure angle will result in the smaller mechanical error. In the worst case, owing to the joined effects of various design parameters, the accuracy of the follower motion may degrade considerably. For the oscillating follower case, all acceleration error functions have a sudden change at every beginning and at every end of the motion even though the theoretical follower displacement is cycloidal motion.

  • In this paper we present a method of circular arc approximation by quartic B$\acute{e}$zier curve. Our quartic approximation method has a smaller error than previous quartic approximation methods due to the alternation of the error function of our quartic approximation. Our method yields a closed form of error so that subdivision algorithm is available, and curvature-continuous quartic spline under the subdivision of circular arc with equal-length until error is less than tolerance. We illustrate our method by some numerical examples.

  • An efficient approach to the automatic construction of effective quadrilateral finite element meshes for two-dimensional analysis is presented. The procedure is composed of, firstly, an initial mesh generation and, secondly, an h-version of adaptive refinement based on error analysis. As for an initial mesh generation scheme, a modified looping algorithm has been employed. For the adaptive refinement process, an error indicator obtained by computing the residual error of the equilibrium equations in the energy norm with a relaxation factor has been employed. Examples of mesh generation and self-adaptive mesh improvements are given. These example solutions demonstrate that an effective mesh for a given error tolerance can be obtained in a few steps of the analysis processes.

  • Due to low cost, low-power, and scalability, ZigBee is considered an efficient wireless AMR infrastructure. However, these characteristics of ZigBee can make the devices more vulnerable to unexpected error environments. In this paper, a fault-tolerant wireless AMR network (FWAMR) is proposed, which is designed to improve the robustness of the conventional ZigBee-based AMR systems by coping well with dynamic error environments. The experimental results demonstrate that the FWAMR is considerably fault-tolerant compared with the conventional ZigBee-based AMR network.

  • For a class of discrete-time nonlinear systems, an iterative learning control method is proposed and a sufficient condition is derived for the convergence of the output error. The proposed method is shown to be less sensitive to modelling errors and the uniform boundedness of the output error is guaranteed even in the presence of initial state errors. It is illustrated by simulations that the actual output converges to a desired output within the tolerance bound and convergence performance is improved by the presented method.

  • In current coordinate measuring machine practice, there are no commonly accepted sample sizes for estimating form errors which have a statistical confidence. Practically, sample size planning is important for the geometrical tolerance inspection using a coordinate measuring machine. We determine and validate appropriate sample sizes for form error estimation. Also, we develop form error estimation methods with certain confidence levels based on the obtained sample sizes in various form errors: straightness, flatness, circularity, and cylindericity.
