In this paper, a 12-bit high resolution, power and area efficiency hybrid digital pulse width modulator (DPWM) with process and temperature (PT) calibration has been proposed for digital controlled DC-DC converters. The hybrid structure of DPWM combines a 6-bit differential tapped delay line ring-mux digital-to-time converter (DTC) schema and a 6-bit counter-comparator DTC schema, resulting in a power and area saving solution. Furthermore, since the 6-bit differential delay line ring oscillator serves as the clock to the high 6-bit counter-comparator DTC, a high frequency clock is eliminated, and the power is significantly saved. In order to have a simple delay cell and flexible delay time controllability, a voltage controlled inverter is adopted to build the deferential delay cell, which allows fine-tuning of the delay time. The PT calibration circuit is composed of process and temperature monitors, two 2-bit flash ADCs and a lookup table. The monitor circuits sense the PT (Process and Temperature) variations, and the flash ADC converts the data into a digital code. The complete circuits design has been verified under different corners of CMOS 0.18um process technology node.
In this paper, we propose a low-power all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) with a wide input range and a high resolution time-to-digital converter (TDC). The resolution of the proposed TDC is improved by using a phase-interpolator and the time amplifier. The phase noise of the proposed ADPLL is improved by using a fine resolution digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) with an active inductor. In order to control the frequency of the DCO, the transconductance of the active inductor is tuned digitally. The die area of the ADPLL is 0.8 $mm^2$ using 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The frequency resolution of the TDC is 1 ps. The DCO tuning range is 58% at 2.4 GHz and the effective DCO frequency resolution is 0.14 kHz. The phase noise of the ADPLL output at 2.4 GHz is -120.5 dBc/Hz with a 1 MHz offset. The total power consumption of the ADPLL is 12 mW from a 1.2 V supply voltage.
A phase-locked loop (PLL) is described which is operable from 0.4 GHz to 1.2 GHz. The PLL has basically the same architecture as the conventional analog PLL except the locking information is stored as digital code. An analog-to-digital converter is embedded in the PLL, converting the analog loop filter output to digital code. Because the locking information is stored as digital code, the PLL can be turned off during power-down mode while avoiding long wake-up time. The PLL implemented in a 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process occupies 0.35 $mm^2$ active area. From a 1.8 V supply, it consumes 59 mW and 984 ${\mu}W$ during the normal and power-down modes, respectively. The measured rms jitter of the output clock is 16.8 ps at 1.2 GHz.
This paper presents a dual-loop sub-sampling digital PLL for a 2.4 GHz IoT applications. The PLL initially performs a divider-based coarse lock and switches to a divider-less fine sub-sampling lock. It achieves a low in-band phase noise performance by enabling the use of a high resolution time-to-digital converter (TDC) and a digital-to-time converter (DTC) in a selected timing range. To remove the difference between the phase offsets of the coarse and fine loops, a phase offset calibration scheme is proposed. The phase offset of the fine loop is estimated during the coarse lock and reflected in the coarse lock process, resulting in a smooth transition to the fine lock with a stable fast settling. The proposed digital PLL is designed by SystemVerilog modeling and Verilog-HDL and fully verified with simulations.
This paper describes an 8b 52 MHz CMOS subranging analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) applications. The proposed ADC based on the improved time-interleaved architecture removes the holding time which is typically observed in the conventional double-channel subranging ADCs to increase throughput rate. Moreover, the ADC employs the interpolation technique in the back-end subranging ADCs far residue signal processing to minimize die area and power consumption. The fabricated and measured prototype ADC in a 0.8 um n-well double-poly double-metal CMOS process typically shows a 52 MHz sampling rate at a 5 V supply voltage with 230 mW, and a 40 MHz sampling rate at a 3 V power supply with 60 mW power consumption.

This paper presents hardware implementation of background timing-skew calibration technique for time-interleaved analog-to-digital converters (TI ADCs). The timing skew between any two adjacent analog-digital (A/D) channels is detected by using pure digital Finite Impulse Response (FIR) delay filter. This paper includes hardware architecture of the system, main units and small sub-blocks along with control logic circuits. Moreover, timing diagrams of logic simulations using ModelSim are provided and discussed for further understanding about simulations. Simulation process in MATLAB and Verilog is also included and provided with basic settings need to be done. For hardware implementation it not practical to work with all samples. Hence, the simulation is conducted on 512 TI ADC output samples which are stored in the buffer simultaneously and the correction arithmetic is done on those samples according to the time skew algorithm. Through the simulated results, we verified the implemented hardware is working well.

In this paper, we propose an analog-to-digital converter to set the address of a I2C slave chip. The proposed scheme converts a fixed voltage between 0 and VDD to the digital value which can be used as the address of the slave chip. The rising time and the falling time are measured with digital counter in a serially connected RC circuit, while the circuit is being charged and discharged with the voltage to be measured. The ratio of the two measured values is used to get the corresponding digital value. This scheme gives a strong point which is to be implementable all the parts except comparator using digital logic. Although the method utilizes RC circuit, it has no relation with the RC value if the quantization error is disregarded. Experimental result shows that the proposed scheme gives 32-level resolution thus it can be used to configure the address of the I2C slave chip.
In general, analog tester or strip chart recorder have been used to measure the corrosion potential of structures such as gas pipelines, oil pipelines, hot water pipelines, power cables etc. Recently, automatic digital data logger substitutes for these manual equipment because using these manual equipments are tedious and time consuming. However, digital data logger also has a shortcoming, that is, short measuring time because of the short lifetime of batteries. Therefore, we developed a long lifetime and low power loss battery taking advantage of galvanic series. In this paper, the results of development for power generator using two metals and DC/DC converter in order to obtain enough voltage for the operation of digital data logger. DC/DC converter operates with 0.5[V]. Its output voltage is 3.5[V] and output current is from 60[mAh] to 1,200[mAh].
In the integrated systems, that is integrated digital TV(DTV) internet and home automation, like home server, is needed integration of digital TV video signal and computer graphic signal. The graphic signal is operating at the high speed and has time-divide-stream. So the re-request of data is not easy at the time of error detection. therefore EDAC algorithm is efficient. In this paper, we show a scheme, that is integration of graphic and dtv format signal for DTV monitor display. This paper also presents the efficiency error detection auto correction(EDAC) for conversion of graphics signal to DTV video signal. A presented EDAC algorithms use the modified hamming code for enhancing video quality and reliability. A EDAC algorithm of this paper can detect single error, double error, triple error and more error for preventing from incorrect correction. And it is not necessary an additional memory. In this paper The comparison between digital TV video signal and graphic signal, a EDAC algorithm and a design of conversion graphic signal to DTV signal with EDAC function in DTV system is described.

This paper presents SVBS-TDC (Semi-Vernier Binary-Search Time-to-Digital Converter) for the noise improvement of ADPLL (All-Digital Phase Locked Loop. We used a Semi-Vernier BS-TDC (Binary-Search TDC) architecture to improve the operation speed more then 10 times compared with the previous conventional BS-TDC and ensured a 510ps wide input range. The proposed Semi-Vernier BS-TDC was designed in a 65ns CMOS process and the simulation results showed 200MHz speed and 4ps resolution with a 1.2V supply voltage, and considerable noise improvement of ADPLL.
