  • In this work, a frequency domain method is tested numerically and experimentally to improve nonlinear model parameters using the frequency response function at the nonlinear element connected point of structure. This method extends the force-state mapping technique, which fits the nonlinear element forces with time domain response data, into frequency domain manipulations. The force-state mapping method in the time domain has limitations when applying to complex real structures because it needd a time domain lumped parameter model. On the other hand, the frequency domain method is relatively easily applicable to a complex real structure having nonlinear elements since it uses the frequency response function of each substurcture. Since this mehtod is performed in frequency domain, the number of equations required to identify the unknown parameters can be easily increased as many as it needed, just by not only varying excitation amplitude bot also selecting excitation frequency domain method has some advantages over the classical force-state mapping technique in the number of data points needed in curve fit and the sensitivity to response noise.

  • This study uses the distributed parameter systems resented by the spatial discretization technique. In this paper, the distributed parameter systems are converted into lumped parameter systems, End fast Walsh transform and the Picard's iteration method are allied to analysis the state of the systems. This thesis presents a new algorithm which usefully exercises the optimal contro1 in the distributed parameter systems. In exercising the optimal control of the distributed parameter systems, the excellent consequences are found without using the existing decentralized contro1 or hierarchical control method. This study can be applied to the linear time-varying systems and the non-linear systems. Farther researches are required to solve the problems of convergence in case of the numerous applicable intervals. The simulation proves the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • In order to regulate the cutting force at a desired level during peripheral end milling processes a feedrate override Adaptive Control Constraint (ACC) system was developed. The feedrate override function was accomplished through a development of programmable machine controller (PMC) interface technique on the NC controller, Nonlinear model of the cutting process was linearized as an adaptive model with a time varying process parameter. An integral type estimator was introduced for on-line estimation of the cutting process parameter, Zero order hold digital control methodology which uses pole-assignment concept for tuning of PI controllers was applied for the ACC system. Performance of the ACC system wsa confirmed on the vertical machining center equipped with fanuc OMC through a large amount of experiment.

  • Vector controlled induction motor have been widely used in high performance applications. How-ever the performance is sensitive to the variations of motor parameters especially the rotor time constant which varies with the temperature and the saturation of the magnetizing inductance. In this paper the authors propose new identifying method for time-varying parameters of an induction motor which is based on adaptive vector control with serial block algorithm. Vector con-trol system realized on synchronous frame and parameter identification system realized on sta-tionary frame are not easily affected by the vector control frame. Parameter mismatch in the control system results in heavy transient variation in speed and torque response. In order to compensate degradation of the responses at the middle and low speed region adaptive identifier is introduced. To verify the feasibility of this technique compute simu-lations carried out.

  • One of the most important problems in the estimation of the parameter of the failure model, is the cost of experimental sampling units, which can be reduced by using any prior information available about ${\theta}$, and devising a two-stage pooling shrunken estimation procedure. We have proposed an estimator of the reliability function (R(t)) of the exponential model using two-stage time censored data when a prior value about the unknown parameter (${\theta}$) is available from the past. To compare the performance of the proposed estimator with the classical estimator, computer intensive calculations for bias, mean squared error, relative efficiency, expected sample size and percentage of the overall sample size saved expressions, were done for varying the constants involved in the proposed estimator (${\tilde{R}}$(t)).

  • In this paper, a parameter estimator is developed for the plant model whose structure is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno model. The essential idea behind the on-line estimation is the comparison of the measured stated with the state of an estimation model whose structure is the same as that of the parameterized model. Based on the parameter estimation scheme, and indirect Model Reference Adaptive Fuzzy control(MRAFC) scheme is proposed to provide asymptotic tracking of a reference signal for the systems with uncertain for slowly time-varying parameters. The developed control law and adaptive law guarantee the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop systems. In addition, the plant state tracks the state of the reference model asymptotically with time for any bounded reference input signal.

  • This paper presents a discrete adaptive observer for MIMO system of an IM model in DQ reference model. The IM model in the stationary frame is discretized and it is transformed into the canonical observer form. The unknown parameter is choosen as rotor speed. The adaptive law for parameter adjustment is obtained as a set of recursive equations which are derived by utilizing an exponentially weighted normalized least-square method. The proposed adaptive observer converges rapidly and is also shown to track time-varying plant parameter quickly. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated by computer simulation.

  • This paper is concerned with the problem of designing a guaranteed cost state feedback controller for singular systems with time-varying delays. The sufficient condition for the existence of guaranteed cost controller, the controller design method, and the optimization problem to get the upper bound of guaranteed cost function are proposed by LMI(linear matrix inequality), singular value decomposition, Schur complements, and change of variables. Since the obtained sufficient conditions can be changed to LMI form, all solutions including controller gain and the upper bound of guaranteed cost function can be obtained simultaneously. Moreover, the proposed controller design method can be extended to the problem of robust guaranteed cost controller design method for singular systems with parameter uncertainties and time-varying delays. The validity of the proposed design algorithm is investigated through a numerical example.

  • It is hard to obtain good robust performance and robust stability for uncertain and time-varying system. The robust 2-DOF controller is frequently used to obtain the desired response and the good robustness. Two controllers can be independently designed. Generally, one controller reduces sensitivity to parameter variations, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances. On the other hand, the other controller reduces the error between the desired command and output. In this paper, the various robust perfect MFCs(model-following controllers) combined with TDC(Time Delay Control) are designed, and the imperfect stable MFC combined with TDC and SMC(Sliding Mode Control) is proposed. These controllers are based on the method of designing robust 2-DOF controllers for dynamic system with uncertainty. The performance of the proposed imperfect sable MFC has been evaluated through computer simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed controller shows the excellent performance characteristics for an overhead crane with uncertain and time-varying parameters.

  • This paper deals with the observer design problem for a class of state-delayed nonlinear systems with or without time-varying norm-bounded parameter uncertainty. The nonlinearities under consideration are assumed to satisfy the global Lipschitz conditions and appear in both the state and measured output equations. The problem we address is the design of a nonlinear observer such that the resulting error system is globally asymptotically stable. For the case when there is no parameter uncertainty, a sufficient condition for the solvability of this problem is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities and the explicit formula of a desired observer is given. Based on this, the robust observer design problem for the case when parameter uncertainties appear is considered and the solvability condition is also given. Both of the solvability conditions obtained in this paper are delay-dependent. A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed approach.
