Dynamics Study with DFT(Density Functional Theory) Calculation for Metal with a few Peripheral Electrons (범밀도함수론을 이용한 백금, 팔라듐, 니켈, 크롬과 수소반응성 연구)

  • To study catalytic activity and hydrogen embrittlement of Pd, Pt, Ni, and Cr in fuel cell electrode, we used density-functional theory. The calculation tools based electron density give much shorter calculation time and cheap costs. Maximum of bond overlap populations of each metal are 0.6539eV for Pd-H, 0.6711eV for Pt-H, 0.6323eV for Ni-H, 0.6152eV for Cr-H. Electron density of Cr has strongest in related metals, which shows strong localization of electron, implying anti hydrogen embrittlement behaviors.

  • Pusher-Loaded Scrapers are important construction equipment for large earthmoving operations. Production rates of a Pusher-Loaded Scraper vary greatly in accordance with the temperature or elevation, the equipment performance, haul speed, haul-road conditions, the method of loading, and Number of scrapers per one pusher. Determining of most economical scrapers fleet regarding the size of equipment, model name, and number of scrapers demands time-consuming calculation because it needs to reference of varied performance charts or tables and repeat complicated calculation. In this study, decision-making support system for the Optimal Pusher-loaded Scrapers Fleet is suggested for the purpose of calculating easily and handling effectively variables which are changed depend of the work conditions. The prototype of this program is developed using MATLAB. And the Database of Pusher-loaded Scraper embodies Performance chart & Retarder chart, soil properties, and calculation-support table.

  • This present paper describes concepts of the real-time operation monitoring system as a tool for enhancing the reliability and raising the availability of the first Korea IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) power plant. This system consists of five (5) modules : (1) Data Validation Module, (2) Performance Calculation Module (3) Performance Diagnostic Module, (4) Trip Information Module, and (5) Statistics Analysis Module. Among these modules, Performance Calculation Module is explained in more detail. The objective of this module is to continuously evaluate the degradation (decrease in performance) of the IGCC plant and its equipment in order to provide plant operators additional information to help them identify problems, improve performance.

  • A modified generalized particle algorithm, MGPA, was suggested to improve the calculation efficiency of standard SPH Method in numerical analysis of high speed impact behavior. MGPA had a new weight function to reduce computation time. The efficiency of this method was proven through calculation for the sample problems of one dimensional rod impact problem and two dimensional plate impact problem. The MGPA method reduced the calculation error and stress oscillation near the boundaries. The validity of this approach was shown by the comparison with ABAQUS results in two dimensional plate impact problem.

  • This paper deals with an improved core loss calculation of Linear Oscillatory Motor from curve fitting method using modified Steinmetz equation considered anomalous loss. For an accurate calculation, magnetic field analyses in stator core considering, magnetic field analyses in stator core considering the time harmonics are performed. And using the nonlinear finite element analysis (FEM), we applied separated rotating and alternating magnetic filed to core loss calculation.

  • In this study, the computer simulation for the heat transfer in pulse combustion water heater is performed. The attention is focused to the effects of the installation of corebuster in the flue tube on heat transfer. The energy equations are established for both wall and gas side in the combustion chamber, flue way, exhaust chamber and muffler, and the numerical calculation is executed. Zone method takes longer computer calculation time compared with semi-zone method. Semi-zone method is chosen for numerical calculation. As a result of this study, it is found that the installation of the core buster in flue tube increases total heat transfer. It is also found that the total heat transfer is increased with the increasing of the ratio of the cross section area of corebuster to that of the flue tube. However, the heat transfer effect is negligible for the area ratio above 0.5.

  • In this study new evaluation method of eddy currents in conductive shielding sheets are introduced. This method is based on the magnetic flux linkage in rectangular cells. According to this method the allocated amount of memory and the calculation time can be reduced. In this method calculation of magnetic field in any space can be performed by summing contributions of source currents and eddy currents in conductive shielding sheets. This method is applicable to the design of magnetic field-shield.

  • Calculation unit and peripheral units that are used to make the position controller are embedded to one chip FPGA. $\textbullet$ Feed-forward PID controller and interpolator in the calculation unit mitigate frequent context switching. $\textbullet$ The peripheral units reduce the size of the joints position control board. $\textbullet$ Because the calculation unit is designed with pipeline structure, it has the advantages to apply to the multi joints.

  • In this paper, a simple design of a DOB (Disturbance Observer) for attitude control of a quad-rotor system is presented. A modified DOB structure from the conventional DOB is introduced to eliminate time-delay in the calculation. The proposed simple modification in the DOB configuration provides an efficiency in the calculation of the disturbance term such that the delayed calculation is not required. The performance of the modified DOB is evaluated through simulation studies. To confirm the simulation results, experimental studies of the attitude control of a quad-rotor system are conducted.

  • From the Boltzmann equation with BGK approximation, a gas-kinetic BGK scheme is developed and methods for its efficient calculation, using the convergence acceleration techniques, are presented in a framework of an implicit time integration. The characteristics of the original gas-kinetic BGK scheme are improved in order for the accurate calculation of viscous and heat convection problems by considering Osher's linear subpath solutions and Prandtl number correction. Present scheme applied to various numerical tests reveals a high level of accuracy and robustness and shows advantages over flux vector splittings and Riemann solver approaches from Euler equations.
