  • Safety of reactive systems is one of the most important research areas in the field of weapon development. A NoGo response or at least a low-order explosion should be ensured to prevent unexpected accidents when the reactive system is impacted by high-velocity projectile. We investigated the shock-induced detonation of cased reactive systems subject to a normal projectile impact to the cylindrical surface based on two-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations using the I&G chemical rate law. Two types of energetic materials, namely LX-17 and AP-based solid propellant, were considered to compare the dynamic responses of the reactive system when subjected to the threshold impact velocity. It was found that shock-to-detonation transition phenomena occurred in the cased LX-17, whereas no full reaction occurred in the propellant.

  • The fMRI signals are composed of many various signals. It is very difficult to find the accurate parameter for the model of fMRI signal containing only neural activity, though we may estimating the signal patterns by the modeling of several signal components. Besides the nose by the physiologic motion, the motion of object and noise of MR instruments make it more difficult to analyze signals of fMRI. Therefore, it is not easy to select an accurate reference data that can accurately reflect neural activity, and the method of an analysis of various signal patterns containing the information of neural activity is an issue of the post-processing methods for fMRI. In the present study, fMRI data was analyzed with the Independent Component Analysis(ICA) method that doesn't need a priori-knowledge or reference data. ICA can be more effective over the analytic method using cross-correlation analysis and can separate the signal patterns of the signals with delayed response or motion related components. The Principal component Analysis (PCA) threshold, wavelet spatial filtering and analysis of a part of whole images can be used for the reduction of the freedom of data before ICA analysis, and these preceding analyses may be useful for a more effective analysis. As a result, ICA method will be effective for the degree of freedom of the data.

  • Thermal stress of livestock has been issued due to recent climate change trends and this causes reproductive disorders, decreased feed consumption, immunosuppression, and increased mortality of animals. Concept of THI has been widely used to quantitatively evaluate the degree of thermal stress for animals, however use of this concept is restricted for animals living in the enclosed facilities such as mechanically ventilated broiler houses. In this study, time-based internal energy flow and variation trends of temperature and humidity were analyzed based on BES technique. Local weather data, insulation characteristics of building materials, heat and moisture generation rate from broilers according to age, algorithm of ventilation operation were adopted for boundary condition of the model to accurately compute THI values inside the mechanically ventilated broiler house. From the BES computation, excess frequency of THI threshold in Jeju city was highest on the assumption that air conditioning equipments were not installed. When general raising density ($39kg\;m^{-2}$) was adopted, total 2,191 hours were exceeded. Excess hours of THI threshold were strongly related to the cumulative air temperature ($R^2=0.87$).

  • A driving controller for active destruction protections can be applied to machinery, aerospace and military fields. In particular, this controller can be used to track and attack enemy flying objects through the active control. It is important to ensure reliability of the driving controller since its operation should be kept with precision to the target point. The temperature of the environment where the driving controller is used is about -32 C ~ 50 C (241~323 ). Heat generated in the driving controller should be maintained below a certain threshold (85 C (358 )) to ensure reliability; therefore, the study and analysis of the heat flow characteristics in the driving controller are required. In this research, commercial software Solid-Works Flow Simulation was used for the numerical simulation assuming a low Reynolds number turbulence model and an incompressible viscous flow. The goal of this paper is to design the driving controller safely by analyzing the characteristics of the heat flow inside of the controller composed of chips or boards. Our analysis shows temperature distributions for boards and chips below a certain threshold.

  • When the conventional IPD (inter-poly-dielctrics) layer with ONO(oxide-nitride-oxide) structure was used in the Flash EEPROM cell, its data retention characteristics were significanfly degraded because the top oxide of the ONO layer was etched off due to the cleaning process used in the gate oxidation process for the peripheral MOSFETs. When the IPD layer with the ONON(oxide-nitride-oxide-nitride) was used there, however, its data retention characteristics were much improved because the top nitride of the ONON layer protected the top oxide from being etched in the cleaning process. For the modelling of the data retention characteristics of the Flash EEPROM cell with the ONON IPD layer, the decrease of the threshold voltage cue to the charge loss during the bake was here given by the empirical relation ${\Delta}V_t\; = \;{\beta}t^me^{-ea/kT}$ and the values of the ${\beta}$=184.7, m=0.224, Ea=0.31 eV were obtained with the experimental measurements. The activation energy of 0.31eV implies that the decrease of the threshold voltage by the back was dur to the movement of the trapped electrons inside the inter-oxide nitride layer. On the other hand, the results of the computer simulation using the model were found to be well consistent with the results of the electrical measurements when the thermal budget of the bake was not high. However, the latter was larger then the former in the case of the high thermal budger, This seems to be due to the leakage current generated by the extraction of the electrons with the bake which were injected into the inter-oxide niride later and were trapped there during the programming, and played the role to prevent the leakage current. To prevent the generation of the leakage current, it is required that the inter-oxide nitride layer and the top oxide layer be made as thin and as thick as possible, respectively.

  • Field experiments were conducted to investigate the competition relationships of main paddy weeds with transplanted rice grown in paddy conditions. Data were used to predict crop yield as a function of weed density using a rectangular hyperbola model and determine weed economic threshold (ET) levels. The rectangular hyperbola (equation 2) was fitted to rice yield to estimate weed-free rice yield ($Y_o$) and weed competitivity (${\beta}$). Its competitivity for M. vaginalis was 0.0007445, 0.0005713, 0.000988 and 0.0008846 in Daejeon, Suwon, Iksan and Naju, respectively. The competitivity at harvest represented by parameter ${\beta}$ ranged from 0.001611 in Naju to 0.002437 in Iksan for S. trifolia. The ET levels of main paddy weeds in machine transplanted rice cultivation were well estimated based on the herbicides applied and its application cost. Therefore, our results can be used to support decision-making on herbicide application for weed management in transplanted rice cultivation.

  • In Deep Learning models derivative is implemented by error back-propagation which enables the model to learn the error and update parameters. It can find the global (or local) optimal points of parameters even in the complex models taking advantage of a huge improvement in computing power. However, deliberately generated data points can 'fool' models and degrade the performance such as prediction accuracy. Not only these adversarial examples reduce the performance but also these examples are not easily detectable with human's eyes. In this work, we propose the method to detect adversarial datasets with random noise addition. We exploit the fact that when random noise is added, prediction accuracy of non-adversarial dataset remains almost unchanged, but that of adversarial dataset changes. We set attack methods (FGSM, Saliency Map) and noise level (0-19 with max pixel value 255) as independent variables and difference of prediction accuracy when noise was added as dependent variable in a simulation experiment. We have succeeded in extracting the threshold that separates non-adversarial and adversarial dataset. We detected the adversarial dataset using this threshold.

  • Background: The performance of combined testing visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) and cervical cytology tests might differ from one setting to another. The average estimate of the testing accuracy across studies is informative, but no meta-analysis has been carried out to assess this combined method. Objective: The objective of this study was to estimate the average sensitivity and specificity of the combined VIA and cervical cytology tests for the detection of cervical precancerous lesions. Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic review and a meta-analysis, according to the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Review of Diagnostic Test Accuracy. We considered two cases. In the either-positive result case, a positive result implies positivity in at least one of the tests. A negative result implies negativity in both tests. In the both-positive case, a positive result implies having both tests positive. Eligible studies were identified using Pubmed, Embase, Website of Science, CINHAL and COCRANE databases. True positive, false positive, false negative and true negative values were extracted. Estimates of sensitivity and specificity, positive and negative likelihood (LR) and diagnostic odds ratios (DOR) were pooled using a hierarchical random effect model. Hierarchical summary receiver operating characteristics (HSROC) were generated and heterogeneity was verified through covariates potentially influencing the diagnostic odds ratio. Findings: Nine studies fulfilled inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Pooled estimates of the sensitivities of the combined tests in either-positive and both-positive cases were 0.87 (95% CI: 0.83-0.90) and 0.38 (95% CI: 0.29-0.48), respectively. Corresponding specificities were 0.79 (95% CI: 0.63-0.89) and 0.98 (95% CI: 0.96-0.99) respectively. The DORs of the combined tests in either-positive or both-positive result cases were 27.7 (95% CI: 12.5-61.5) and 52 (95% CI: 22.1-122.2), respectively. When including only articles without partial verification bias and also a high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia as a threshold of the disease, DOR of combined test in both-positive result cases remained the highest. However, DORs decreased to 12.1 (95% CI: 6.05-24.1) and 13.8 (95% CI: 7.92-23.9) in studies without partial verification bias for the combined tests in the either-positive and both-positive result cases, respectively. The screener, the place of study and the size of the population significantly influenced the DOR of combined tests in the both-positive result case in restriction analyses that considered only articles with CIN2+ as disease threshold. Conclusions: The combined test in the either-positive result case has a high sensitivity, but a low specificity. These results suggest that the combined test should be considered in developing countries as a primary screening test if facilities exist to confirm, through colposcopy and biopsy, a positive result.

  • In Hierarchical Mobile Ipv6 (HMIPv6) networks, the mobility anchor point (MAP) handles binding update (BU) procedures locally to reduce signaling overhead for mobility. However, as the number of mobile nodes (MNs) handled by the MAP increases, the MAP suffers from the overhead not only to handle signaling traffic but also to Process data tunneling traffic. Therefore, it is important to control the number of MNs serviced by the MAP, in order to mitigate the burden of the MAP. We propose an adaptive load control scheme, which consists of two sub-algorithms: threshold-based admission control algorithm and session-to-mobility ratio (SMR) based replacement algorithm. When the number of MNs at a MAP reaches to the full capacity, the MAP replaces an existing MN at the MAP, whose SMR is high, with an MN that just requests binding update. The replaced MN is redirected to its home agent. We analyze the proposed load control scheme using the .Markov chain model in terms of the new MN and the ongoing MN blocking probabilities. Numerical results indicate that the above probabilities are lowered significantly compared to the threshold-based admission control alone.

  • In clinical data minig, choosing the optimal subset of features is such important, not only to reduce the computational complexity but also to improve the usefulness of the model constructed from the given data. Moreover the threshold values (i.e., cut-off points) of selected features are used in a clinical decision criteria of experts for differential diagnosis of diseases. In this paper, we propose a fuzzy discretization approach, which is evaluated by measuring the degree of separation of redundant attribute values in overlapping region, based on spatial distribution of data with continuous attributes. The weighted average of the redundant attribute values is then used to determine the threshold value for each feature and rough set theory is utilized to select a subset of relevant features from the overall features. To verify the validity of the proposed method, we compared experimental results, which applied to classification problem using 668 patients with a chief complaint of dyspnea, based on three discretization methods (i.e., equal-width, equal-frequency, and entropy-based) and proposed discretization method. From the experimental results, we confirm that the discretization methods with fuzzy partition give better results in two evaluation measures, average classification accuracy and G-mean, than those with hard partition.
