Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the oral health programs for children of the low income classes in order to prevent oral health problems and to provide the effective oral health programs in community children's centers. Methods : The subjects were 464 teachers in community children's centers in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Jeollabuk-do. Results : There were differences between the regions(p<0.05) in oral health guidance among teachers in municipal and provincial community children's centers. The oral health education was considered as the most important thing in those who had more than 6 years career(71.8%), and followed by those having less than five years career(61.3%) and those having two years career(53.8%)(p<0.05). Although many children registered the program and newsletter was sent to the children's homes, but 70% of the children did not brush their teeth regularly(p<0.05). Regardless of region, gender, teaching career, and number of enrolled children, 90 percent or more people found that it necessary for community children's centers to collaborate with dental clinics. There were gender differences between the male and female(p<0.05). Male accounted for 42.4% response rate and female accounted for 36.4%. Approximately About 48.5% of male and 61.6% of female thought that the oral health program is the most important thing(p<0.05). Conclusions : The development of the customized oral health program is the most critical factor to the oral health behavior change in the children in the community children's centers and public dental clinics.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of discrimination abuser experiences and discrimination victim experiences on the human rights consciousness of children in community children, In order to understand the role of self-esteem as a mediating role between these two variables, And to find practical and policy implications. For this purpose, we selected 662 elementary school sixth graders who participated in the second panel of the community children's center, the third year (2016), as the sample and used the structural equation model validation method. As a result of this study: First, the experience of discrimination abuser against children in the community children's center has negative effects on self - esteem. Second, the self-esteem of children in the community children's center showed a statistically significant effect on human rights consciousness. Third, the experiences of child discrimination abuse and discrimination of local children's centers showed significant influence on children's consciousness of human rights through self - esteem. In conclusion, we proposed practical use measures to promote positive emotional development and human rights consciousness of children in community children's centers.

Objectives: This study was performed to identify the current barriers of obesity management for children using Community Child Care Centers and their caregivers (parents and teachers working in the Centers). Further, this study explored the possibility of utilizing a mobile phone application for tailored obesity prevention and management programs to overcome the current difficulties associated with children's obesity management. Methods: The qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 obese and overweight children or children who wanted to participate in this study using Community Child Care Centers, 12 teachers working at the Centers, and a focus group interview with five parents of children using the Centers. Data were analyzed with a thematic approach categorizing themes and sub-themes based on the transcripts. Results: The current barriers of obesity management of obese and overweight children using Community Child Care Centers were lack of self-directed motivation regarding obesity management (chronic obesity-induced lifestyles and reduced self-confidence due to stigma) and lack of support from households and Community Child Care Centers (latchkey child, inconsistency in dietary guidance between the Center and household, repetitive pressure to eat, and absence of regular nutrition education). Mobile phone applications may have potential to overcome the current barriers by providing handy and interesting obesity management based on visual media (real-time tracking of lifestyles using behavior records and social support using gamification), environmental support (supplementation of parental care and network-based education between the Community Child Care Center and household), and individualized intervention (encouragement of tailored and gradual changes in eating habits and tailored goal setting). It is predicted that the real-time mobile phone program will provide information for improving nutritional knowledge and behavioral skills as well as lead to sustainable children's coping strategies regarding obesity management. In addition, it is expected that environmental factors may be improved by network-based education between the Community Child Care Centers and households using the characteristics of mobile phones, which are free from space and time constraints. Conclusions: The tailored education program for children using Community Child Care Centers based on mobile phones may prevent and reduce childhood obesity by overcoming the current barriers of obesity management for children, providing environmental and individualized support to promote healthy lifestyles and quality of life in the future.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that affect the discrimination of low-income children among children in the community children's centers. The subjects of the survey were 6th grade elementary school students who were the third respondents of the second Child Panel Survey of the community children's center, among them, 355 children whose family economy level corresponds to basic living allowance, next level, and blind spot. SPSS Statistics 25.0 was used to analyze exploratory factors, reliability analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study showed that single parent family, parent social capital, parental abuse, and happiness had a significant effect on the discrimination damage of low-income children in community children's centers. The more one parent's family, the less the parent's role as a counterpart to the discussion, and the more the parental abuse, the higher the child's discrimination damage. In general, parents-related factors were affecting the discrimination damage of low-income children. Community children's centers and related institutions should focus on developing and implementing programs that can improve the quality of family relations of children.
This study was conducted to find out the effect of job-crafting of social workers at community children's centers on the satisfaction of children. This study used a multi-level analysis model that calculated the child factor (level 1) and the social worker factor (level 2) by utilizing the responses of 31 social workers and 216 children used at 31 community children's centers. The main research results are as follows: First, it was found that 34.3% of the total variation in child satisfaction was due to differences by community children's centers. Second, it was found that the number of hours used per day in the child factor (level 1), and gender, age, and job-crafting in the life worker factor (level 2) affect the satisfaction of children. Based on these results, measures to improve the satisfaction level of children using community children's centers were discussed.
This study aimed to explore the current status of playgrounds, children's libraries and youth centers as local community centers in support of children. Its data were collected from reviewing the relevant literature, interviews, surveys and web search. It was found that children's libraries were predominantly located in Seoul and Kyungki provinces. In comparison with other advanced countries, Korea had lower ratios of volumes of books and periodicals per the library user and of a number of staff per the user. It was also found that over a half number of playgrounds was placed in apartment areas. Since 1993, the long-term youth development plan has commenced the construction of various societal infrastructure such as local youth centers, counseling institutes, sex-culture centers and youth cultural zones. Based on these findings, some policy issues were raised.
This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the foodservice management support program focusing on menu management in community child centers. The support program provided reference menus, staff training, and field consulting to 10 community child centers in the Jeollanam-do province for one month, August in 2010. One month menus were developed, based on children's preference for menu items, foodservice personnel's preference for food materials, and availability of local specialty foods, and offered as reference menus. In addition, staff training and field consulting focusing on menu management were conducted before and during the pilot period, respectively. To evaluate the support program, menus, foodservice personnel's knowledge level and perceived performance in foodservice management, and children's level of satisfaction for foodservice were analyzed before and after the support program. As a result of analysis of 222 and 210 menus of before and after the support program, respectively, the number of dishes per meal increased from five to six on average, and the proportion of meals including five food groups, which were grain, meat, vegetable, fruit, and milk and dairy product, rose from 2% to 24%. Foodservice personnel's knowledge level regarding foodservice management increased significantly (p = 0.007), however, their perceived performance in foodservice management did not show any significant changes. Children were more satisfied with 'food' (p = 0.001), 'sanitation' (p = 0.001), and 'environment' (p < 0.008) of foodservice in community child centers after the support program. In conclusion, the foodservice management support program focusing on menu management in this study was effective for improving menu quality of and children's satisfaction with foodservice in community child centers.
This study was conducted on children from 10 community children centers located in northern Seoul. The quality factors of the food services of the community children centers were divided into five factors, including sanitation, food, environment, subsidiary service and staff. Analysis of the differences in the importance of factors and satisfaction with the food service quality indicated satisfaction to be higher than importance for in all the factors except 'environment'. In particular, of the food service qualities, significant differences were found between importance and satisfaction in relation to the attributes of 'food' and 'environment'. As a result of IPA of the food service qualities in community children centers, 'sanitation' was found to be in the maintenance area, 'environment' to be in the area of concentration, and the quality attributes of 'staff' and 'subsidiary service' were found to be in the low priority area. In contrast, the 'food' quality corresponded to the area of oversupply.

The purpose of this research is to analyze layout characteristics of community facilities for children in apartment housing, to survey parents, who can understand their children best, in regard to the features of using community facilities for children and their satisfaction level, and eventually to provide basic materials for planning future community facilities for children. For this research, seven apartment housing with over 500 households in Dongtan New City were selected as trial apartment housing. The findings of this research are as follows. First, the findings of the survey of the community facilities for children in the apartment housing showed that the facilities could be categorized into playgrounds, playrooms, libraries, and kindergartens/child care centers. Second, according to the survey, the layout types of community facilities for children showed to have various types such as a central type, a concentration type, a balanced distribution type, a near-entrance type, and a combination type. As for their elevation types, they showed to have a stand-alone type, an aboveground type, and an underground type. Third, As a result of the survey on the usage of the community facilities for children by category, most respondents indicated they were using playgrounds and libraries. On the contrary, the users of indoor playrooms and kindergartens/child care centers were concentrated among infants and kindergarteners, and thus the use rate appeared to be low. Fourth, the satisfaction levels of using community facilities for children appeared to be high in general. Particularly, the satisfaction level for kindergarten/child care centers appeared to be higher than those of other facilities. On the contrary, the satisfaction level of libraries appeared to be low.
This study was originated from the idea that it would be important for caring service of community children center to be positioned as the institution to strengthen the public nature and provide quality care services to children. In particular, competencies of the employees in community children centers play an important role and the quality of children care services is the crucial evaluation parameter for those institutions. The objectives of this study are to investigate the effects of the competency levels of the employees in community children centers on the service quality to children and to verify the mediated effect of self-efficacy on their service quality to children. With respect to the data analysis methods, hierarchical regression analysis was performed. Barron & Kenny's method was used to understand the mediated effect of self-efficacy. Also, Sobel test was performed to investigate the significance of mediated effect of self-efficacy. The study results are, first, the service quality to children might be differed by the level of competencies of the employees in community children centers; and second, partial mediated effect of self-efficacy was found between their competencies and service quality to children. These results implicate that service quality to children can be improved by strengthening competencies of the employees in community children centers and enhancing their self-efficacy. It is necessary to try to improve the service quality by enhancing competencies and self-efficacy of the employees in community children centers, which will lead those institutions to play a crucial role in the caring services.
