  • The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the consumption behavior and perceptions of environmentally-friendly agricultural products (EAPs) according to the lifestyles of housewives in the Jeonbuk area, Korea. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 267 housewives. Frequency analysis, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, and cluster analysis were used to analyze the data. Three clusters were obtained from the cluster analysis of LOHAS and wellbeing-related lifestyle: Cluster 1 "LOHAS-pursuit group", Cluster 2 "wellbeing-progress group", Cluster 3 "Utility-pursuit group". Of the housewives who were of LOHAS-pursuit group, about 50% were over 40 years old and had a professional job with a high household income. They had a high level of understanding about EAPs and purchased the highest percentage of EAPs among the groups. The housewives who were of the wellbeing-progress group, over 83% were between the ages of 30 and 40. Their consumption behaviors were very similar with that of the LOHAS-pursuit group, but the household income was lower. Of the housewives who were of the utility-pursuit group, about 63% under 30 years old. Their household income and level of understanding about EAPs were the lowest among the groups. They less interest in EAPs in comparison with other groups. For housewives' to choose EAPs properly, information and consumer education on these products, according to their lifestyles is necessary.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate water quality in the Mankyung River using multivariate analysis. The analysis data which was surveyed from January 1996 to December 2002 in Mankyung river was aquired by the ministry of environment. Twelve water quality parameters were determined on each survey. The results were summarized as follow; Water quality in the Mankyung River could be explained up to 74.90% by four factors which were included in loading of organic matter and nutrients by the tributaries(43.28%), seasonal variation(10.40%), loading of pathogenic bacteria by domestic sewage of Gapcheon (12.41%) and internal metabolism in river(8.81%). The result of cluster analysis by station was classified into three group that has different water quality characteristics. Especially, Iksan river was appeared to considerable water quality characteristics against other station. In monthly cluster analysis, three group was classified by seasonal characteristics. Also, in yearly cluster analysis, three group was classified. It is necessary to control the pollutant loadings by domestic sewage and livestock waste for water quality management of Mankyung river.

Data were collected through anthropometry and photometry and analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, analysis of variance, and discriminant analysis. As the result of factor analysis for the classification of somatotypes, 6 factors which explain 80.8% of variance were extracted from 35 photometric measurement. Using factor scores cluster analysis was carried out and the subjects were classified into 4 cluster Each cluster was classified as straight type, turning over type, bending type and swayback according to its position to the relative plumb line and their side view contour. And 4 somatotypes were analyzed by theirs direct anthropometric and indirect Photometric measurment to represent physical characteristics of each group.

A survey of 30 hospital food and nutrition service department was undertaken and detailed information was collected from each, including, surveys of 1, 016 patient. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS/win 6.11 package for descriptive analysis, t-test X$^2$-test ANOVA principal component analysis , and cluster analysis and cluster analysis. In the case of patient satisfaction with hospital food and food services, overall satisfaction scores of male and female were 3.54 and 3.45 showing higher levels than the average score(3.00) The aspect of the food and food service which received the lowest ratings by patients was 'meal rounding while dining'. After conduction of factor analysis of variables affecting the patients meal satisfaction 3 groups including the 'menu satisfaction factor', 'service satisfaction factor ' and 'nutrition management satisfaction factor ' were selected. 3 clusters were categorized by the 'service cluster' 'nutrition management cluster', 'men cluster', and 'menu nutrition service cluster' after conducting a cluster analysis with influencing variables affecting patients meal satisfaction. The overview results of patient satisfaction by cluster were : in the case of the service group, such factors as taste, portion size, dealing with complaints while dining meal rounding while dining should be managed with caution In case of the nutrition management group, such factors as taste, portion size, temperature of the food intake, and dependence on hospital food should be managed with care, In the case of the menu groups, such factors as punctuality of meal times, contaminated substances in meals and serving mistakes, cleanliness of dishes, kindness of the server meal rounding while dining should by particularly managed with importance.

  • The purpose of this research was to determine the relation between clothing evaluative criteria and segmented groups based on the perception of somatotype. The data for this research were collected from questionnaires of 192 females in Busan. Data were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, and regression analysis. Cluster analysis was used to identify groups of respondents based on the perception of somatotype difference factors. Based on the findings, three distinct groups were clustered: thin, moderate, fat. There were significant differences among the three groups in terms of clothing evaluative criteria. The result of regression analysis revealed that the perception of somatotype is a major determinant to influence the clothing evaluative criteria. The thin group preferred practical clothes while the fat group liked symbol clothes.

  • The principal objectives of this study were : 1) to classify groups via cluster analysis for undergraduate's attributes of restaurant choice, and 2) to assess differences in dining-out behaviors among each restaurant choice cluster. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 387 students, and the data were analyzed via frequency analysis, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. Three clusters were obtained by the attributes of restaurant choice from cluster analysis : Cluster 1 "indifferent style", Cluster 2 "ordinary style", and Cluster 3 "highly interested (careful) style". As for connections between the attributes of restaurant choice and distinctive dining-out behaviors in different undergraduates clusters, an indifferent style was rampant among the male students in their lower academic years. This group of students responded that they ate out only to satisfy their hunger, and stayed in a restaurant for one hour or less. Their friends made the choice of a restaurant on their behalf. The students in the "ordinary style" group spent between 5 and 10 thousand won to dine out, and stayed in a restaurant with their friends for two hours or less. They made the choice of a restaurant on their own, or together with their friends. A highly interested (careful) style prevailed among the female students in the upper academic year. This group of students ate out in order to mingle with their friends or colleagues rather than to satisfy their hunger, and they generally made a choice of a restaurant on their behalf.

  • This study attempts to measure body sizes and somatotypes of 844 female middle and high students girls in their growth period and to investigate characteristics of each of the measured somatotypes. The data used for this study were 50 items of body sizes obtained from anthropometric measurements. The purposes of the study are as follows: 1. to analyze physical characteristics according to age. 2. to extract factors of somatotypes using factor analyses. 3. to classify somatotypes according to physical characteristics using cluster analyses. The study results were as follows: 1. TH anthropometric measurements indicated that three existed collective patterns of somatotypes across Group I(12∼13 years old), Group II(14∼15 years old), and Group III(16∼18 years old). 2. Through factor analyses, 6 factors were yielded from each age group. The cumulative proportions of these factors were 77% for Group I, 75% for Group II, and 72% for Group III. Factor I indicates a horizontal size factor and Factor 2 indicates a vertical size factor. 3. Group I and Group II ere classified into 5 types and Group III was classified as 3 types. In Group I, middle height and a little slim types were most prevalent(28%). In Group II, low height and very slim types were most prevalent(28.9%). Finally, In Group III, low height and slim types were most prevalent(4.6%)
