Objective: This study examined correlates of residential proximity between parents and non-coresident married children. A majority of existing studies on intergenerational living arrangement has focused on exploring factors that are associated with intergenerational coresidence only, despite an increasing number of parents and children who do not live together but close by. Because residential proximity facilitates frequent contacts and support exchanges between the two generations, it is important to understand its correlates. Method: The data were drawn from first wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA, 2006), a nationally representative sample of adults 45 years or older and their spouses. The analytic sample consisted of 3,950 parents with 10,946 non-coresident married children. Both regression with robust standard errors and sibling fixed effects regression models were estimated using the reg and xtreg procedures in STATA. Results: Younger, less depressed, and more physically impaired parents lived closer to at least one of their married children (within a 30-minute distance by public transportation). Fathers (compared to mothers), parents living in cities (compared to those living in rural areas), parents with at least one co-resident child or fewer numbers of married children tended to have at least one married child living nearby. With regard to child characteristics, married children who were less educated, homeowners, and had more children lived closer to their parents. Also, sons (compared to daughters) lived in closer distance to their parents. Conclusion: Overall, findings suggest that intergenerational residential proximity may primarily be motivated by the childcare needs of married children or parents' needs for assistance with functional impairment. Also, the traditional patrilineal norms of intergenerational support may still be a critical factor in residential decisions as observed in the difference between married sons and daughters in proximity to their parents.
The purpose of this study was to compare the adaptation to tooth structure of light - cured glass ionomer cement with that of self -cured glass ionomer cement. In this study, class V cavities were prepared on the buccal surfaces of 10 extracted human premolar teeth, and teeth were randomly assigned 2 groups of 5 teeth each. The cavities of self-curing glass ionomer cement group were restored with the Fuji n. and the cavities of lightcuring glass ionomer cement group were restored with the Fuji II LC. The surfaces of glass ionomer cements were applied with All-Bond 2 adhesive, and cured with visible light. The restored teeth were stored in 100% relative humidity at $37^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours. And then. the roots of the teeth were removed with the tapered fissure bur and the remaining crowns were sectioned occlusogingivally through the center of glass ionomer restorations. Adaptation at tooth-restoration interface was assessed occlusally. axially, and gingivally by scanning electron microscope. The results were as follows : 1. On the occlusal margin, the group of self - curing glass ionomer cement showed closer adaptation to both enamel and dentin than the group of light-curing glass ionomer cement showing 5/lm gap between cement and tooth structure. 2. On the axial wall. the group of light-curing glass ionomer cement showing 5-$7{\mu}m$ gap between cement and dentin showed closer adaptation to dentin than the group of self -curing glass ionomer cement showing 10-$15{\mu}m$ gap between cement and dentin. 3. On the gingival margin, the group of light-curing glass ionomer cement showing 2-$5{\mu}m$ gap between cement and dentin(X 1200) showed closer adaptation to dentin than the group of self-curing glass ionomer cement showing 20pm gap between cement and dentin(X 600). 4. The group of self -curing glass ionomer cement showed closer adaptation on the occlusal margin than on the gingival margin, and the group of light-curing glass ionomer cement showed similar adaptation on both occlusal and gingival margins.
South Korea's 'Green Revolution', which is considered to be one of Asia's most successful programs of integrated rural development, has achieved two main objectives: (1) bringing the country closer to self-sufficiency and (2) narrowing the income gap between rural and ruban incomes and thus allowing agriculture to participate in the nation's economic growth.
The inverse Compton scattering of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation with electrons in the intracluster medium which has a temperature gradient, was examined by the third-order perturbation theory of the Compton scattering. A new type of the spectrum distortion of the CMB was found and named as gradient T Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect (gradT SZE). The spectrum has an universal shape. There is a zero distortion point, the cross over frequency, at 326GHz. When the hotter region locates closer to an observer, the intensity becomes brighter than the CMB in the frequency region lower than the cross over frequency and fainter than the CMB in the frequency region higher than the cross over frequency. When the cooler region locates closer to an observer, the distorted part of the spectrum has an opposite sign to the above case. The amplitude of the spectrum distortion does not de-pend on the electron density and depends on the heat conductivity and the total temperature variation along a line of sight. Therefore, the gradT SZE provides an unique opportunity to measure thermally nonequilibrium electron momentum distribution function in the ICM and combined with the X-ray measurements of the electron temperature distribution provides an opportunity of direct measurement of the heat conductivity in the ICM.
Improvements were made in the study for the design of the conventional Eddy Current Separator (ECS) used for separating small sized non-ferrous particles in the waste. These improvements include decreasing the air gap between the material and magnetic drum, making the drum position adjustable and placing the splitter closer to the drum. Thus, small particles were separated with high efficiency. The magnetic drum was removed from inside the ECS conveyor belt system as design change and was placed as a separate unit. Hence, the force generated on the test material increased by about 5.5 times while the air gap between the non-ferrous materials and drum decreased from 3 mm to 1 mm. The non-metal material in the waste is separated before the drum in the novel design. Whereas non-ferrous metal particles are separated by falling into the splitter as a result of the force generated as soon as the particles fall on the drum. Every material that passes through the drum can be recycled as a result of moving the splitter closer to the contact point of the drum. In addition, the drum can also be used for the efficient separation of large particles since its position can be adjusted according to the size of the waste material. The performance of the novel design ECS was verified via analytical approaches, finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental studies.
In laser imaging, accurate extraction of the laser's center is essential. Several methods exist to extract the laser's center in an image, such as the geometric mean, the parabolic curve fitting, and the Gaussian curve fitting, etc. The Gaussian curve fitting is the most suitable because it is based on the physical properties of the laser. The width of the Gaussian laser beam depends on the distance from the laser source to the target object. It is assumed in general that the distance remains constant at a laser spot resulting in a symmetric Gaussian model for the laser image. However, on a curved surface of the object, the distance is not constant; The laser beam is narrower on the side closer to the focal point of the laser light and wider on the side closer to the laser source, which causes the distribution of the laser beam to skew. This study presents a modified Gaussian model in the laser imaging to incorporate the slant angle of a curved object. The proposed method is verified with simulation and experiments.

The present study addresses the direct and indirect methods of determining the mode-I fracture toughness of concrete using experimental tests and particle flow code. The direct method used is compaction tensile test and the indirect methods are notched Brazilian disc test, semi-circular bend specimen test, and hollow center cracked disc. The experiments were carried out to determine which indirect method yields the fracture toughness closer to the one obtained by the direct method. In the numerical analysis, the PFC model was first calibrated with respect to the data obtained from the Brazilian laboratory test. The crack paths observed in the simulated tests were in reasonable accordance with experimental results. The discrete element simulations demonstrated that the macro fractures in the models are caused by microscopic tensile breakages on large numbers of bonded particles. The mode-I fracture toughness in the direct tensile test was smaller than the indirect testing results. The fracture toughness obtained from the SCB test was closer to the direct test results. Hence, the semi-circular bend test is recommended as a proper experiment for determination of mode-I fracture toughness of concrete in the absence of direct tests.

In this study, the seepage flow monitoring method by hydaulic head loss rate graph was developed for the purpose of monitoring the seepage flow from the see side or from the lake on sea dike in which seepage force was varied periodically. The hydraulic head loss rate was defined in this method. The value of the rate is in the range from 0 to 1. the value of 0 means perfectly free flow of seepage. the value of 1 means perfect waterproofing. The value of coefficient of determination in the hydraulic head loss rate graph closer to 1 means that the seepage flow way is stable. The value of coefficient of determination in the hydraulic head loss rate graph closer to 0 means that the hole may exist or the piping may be in the progress. The pore water pressure data measured in Saemangeum sea dike was analyzed with the developed method The result showed that the variation of seepage flow state was detected sensitively by this method and the interception effect of sea dike could be estimated quantitatively.

Experiments are performed to investigate the detailed structure of underexpanded twin jet impinging on a perpendicular flat plate. The major parameters, such as nozzle operating pressure and nozzle spacing, are varied to create different jet flow fields resulted from the complicated interactions of the twin jets. From the surface pressure measurements and shadowgraphs taken by schlieren optical system, the jet structure is strongly dependent on the nozzle operation pressure and the spacing. The results obtained show that the closer nozzle spacing may induce to decrease the diameter of the Mach disk within the first shock cell in the underexpanded twin jet. With the increasing nozzle operating pressure and decreasing the nozzle spacing, a new shock wave appears at the entrainment region between the two jets, due to the enhancement of mixing effect of the both jets. The closer nozzle spacing makes the overall impinging pressure level higher, while severe pressure oscillation along the axis of symmetry. Furthermore it is recommended the wider spacing to obtain higher thrust under the present experimental conditions.
Purpose: Driving is an important activity that is affected by various motor and cognitive deficits after stroke. On the other hand, there is no standard screening tool to evaluate the sitting asymmetry during driving, which is the stereotyped postural characteristic observed in patients with stroke. Therefore, this study compared the buttock pressure during simulated driving between healthy adults and patients with stroke. Methods: Ten post-stroke patients and ten healthy subjects participated in the experiment. The participants experienced simulated driving of 6.1 km during approximately 5 minutes for adaptation. The driving scenario consisted of 3.5 km urban traffic conditions, 10 km straight highway, and 7 km curved or hilly rural roads. Force sensitive application (FSA) was used to analyze the distribution of the buttock pressure on the driver's seat. The symmetry index (SI) was determined using the average buttock pressure of each side of the buttock. The closer SI is to zero, the higher the symmetry of buttock pressure. Results: These studies showed that the SI of healthy subjects was significantly closer to zero than that of the stroke patients. Conclusion: The buttock pressure of the stroke patients showed more asymmetry than that of the healthy subjects during simulated driving. Therefore, a therapeutic approach is needed for symmetrical sitting to improve the driving performance.
