The effect of learning orientation on company innovation and innovation capability are explored based on survey data collected from 154 small and medium-sized manufacturing firms. The theoretical links between learning orientation and company innovation as well as innovation capability are investigated in four research models that compare textile and non-textile manufacturing firms. Learning orientation has a significant effect on company innovation and innovation capability in the model test. However, some of the three segmented factors (commitment to learning, shared vision, and open-mindedness) of learning orientation had no significant effect on company innovation and innovation capability. Company innovation and innovation capability of textile manufacturing firms are predicted by the commitment to learning and shared vision, whereas those of non-textile firms were determined by shared vision and open-mindedness. Differences show that firms may need to put weight on some distinctive aspects of learning orientation according to the business categories in order to enhance company innovation.
The purpose of this study was to explore relationships among technology development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance of textile and clothing companies. Survey data collected from 187 employees in the textile and clothing companies were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. In results, certain levels of correlations were found among technological development strategy, marketing competence, knowledge management competence, and company performance. Specifically, technological gap which was one of the technology development strategy factors was a variable significantly affecting innovation performance and financial performance of textile and clothing companies. Knowledge management competence affected innovation performance whereas marketing competence affected financial competence of textile and clothing companies.
The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of organizational culture of textile companies on innovation capacity and business performance and to confirm the moderating effect of company size on these relationships. Survey data collected from 147 practitioners in the textile companies were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-tests, and multiple causal modeling using AMOS 6.0. In the model test result, all the hypothesized paths were significant in spite of low goodness of fit. Also, although difference was found in company innovativeness, no difference was indicated in innovation capacity and business performance according to company size. In addition, the smaller companies, the stronger effect of company innovativeness on innovation capacity that affected business performance. On the contrary, the larger companies, the stronger effect of participative decision making on innovation capacity that did not affect business performance. Study results may provide useful implications for practitioners who are interested in developing organizational culture appropriate for company size.

Data collected from 167 textile firms through survey were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-tests, and multiple causal modeling using AMOS 6.0. In results, the higher innovativeness, the stronger effect of market orientation on business performance. Also, the lower innovativeness, the stronger effect of learning orientation on business performance. The purposes of this study were to investigate the level of technological collaboration and technological innovation, and to analyze the effects of these variables on performance of textile and clothing companies. The data were collected from participants of Preview in Daegu Exhibition and Seoul Fashion Sourcing Fair as well as a panel on the Research Institute. The results showed that the numbers of technological collaboration and technological innovation were relatively low but the level of technological collaboration was slightly high. The regression analyses indicated that technological collaboration had a significant effect but technological innovation didn't have a significant effect on company performance. However, these two variables had significant effects on innovation performance.

Korean textile and fashion companies have played a major role not only in developing the Korean economy since Korea's industrialization started in the early 1960s but also in providing opportunities to form and expand chaebols (conglomerates of family-owned businesses). This study reviewed and analyzed the historical development of chaebols, which started the fiber/textile/fashion business before the 1960s and maintained their chaebol status until 2010. The Samsung, Samyang, Kolon, Taekwang, Hyosung, LG, and SK groups were included in the study, and data were collected from diverse sources, including the publications and websites of the chaebol companies, newspapers, magazines, and research articles. The strategies of the companies at the corporate and group levels were examined based on the corporate lifecycle, which consists of existence, growth, maturity, rebirth, and decline stages. The results showed that all the analyzed companies actively engaged in product line expansion during the growth stage. Vertical integration, especially backward integration, was common during the growth stage. Some groups established new companies to manage additional product lines and integration, while others pursued growth strategies mainly at the corporate level. The rebirth stage occurred in only a few companies and groups. Some seemed to be going through the decline stage, and the rest of the groups exited the textile and fashion business.
The purpose of this study was to examine the sportswear purchase decision factors and brand preference of college students. The subjects in this study were 614 college students who were selected by cluster random sampling from Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province. The collected data were analyzed by crosstab analysis, and the findings of the study were as follows: If a sportswear company has college students as a target market, first, the company needs to consider design and utility. Second, the company needs to expand internet sale while maintaining a strategy for centering on speciality shop and department store as for a sale of sportswear. Third, the college students themselves have a right of choice according to purchasing sportswear. Thus, a distribution company requires a direct marketing strategy targeting college students. Fourth, simple design of adding a fashion trend is needed. Fifth, the sportswear company needs to expand production and sale in jumpers and trousers based on T-shirts. Sixth, color in sportswear needs to be composed of design based on gray or black color. In order for a sportswear company to be adjusted to the global market environment here after, it requires an effort to continuously grasp consumers' trend and to apply new design and color. Also, the company will be able to be equipped with competitive edge by producing diversely functional products that are demanded by the segmented market.
