This study introduces the development of elementary science textbooks in Korea. In Korea there has been eight revisions to the National curriculum and the development of nine textbooks. The State of Korea has organized textbook development teams, but this time the State chose the development team through public contest. Researchers suggested the 'FLOW' development model based upon results of studies in creative education and developed the new science textbooks. The 'FLOW' model includes four stages, aimed towards capturing students' interest in science (Fun Science), engaging students in various scientific inquiries and experiences (Lab. Experience), organizing their own knowledge of science (Organizing Knowledge), and to encourage students to become little scientists (Willing to be a Scientist). The textbook is a research-developmental textbook that utilizes various literature and exploration-strategic textbooks. The textbook's basis is formed upon scientists' experiences that assist in the realization of 'inquiry' that is emphasized within the science field.

The purpose of this study is to develop the eTextbook and to explore the usability of the eTextbook for accelerating mobile learning in university. This study was primarily based on needs analysis of students, and eTextbook was created based on digital publishing through Adobe DPS. The major design principles of the eTextbook based on previous studies were as follow. First, eTextbook should deliver learning contents in a simple and systematic way. Second, eTextbook should induce student's flows by providing segmented learning contents and various learning resources. Third, eTextbook should expand information accessibility by providing a wide variety of multimedia functions. The development principles of eTextbook have been developed based on cognitive psychology. Location and function of the link or icon used for eTextbook have been developed on the basis of the principles of cognitive psychology. The main development principles were Coherence, Signaling, Redundancy, Segmentation, Multimedia principle, and so on. In order to examine usability of the developed eTextbook, experts' and learners' reactions were evaluated. The primary responses of learners are that the eTextbook increased the learning accessibility and provided various multimedia factors, and thus increased the learning flows in the class.

Recently, Chinese universities have been putting their priority on cultivating industry-academia linked talents, catching up with social change and industrial demand. Accordingly, vocational purpose education is being emphasized even in Korean language education. When facing active trade between Korea and China, the importance of business Korean language education will be magnified, and therefore, the demand for business Korean textbooks will grow accordingly. To strengthen the basis for the development of future business Korean textbooks, this study conducted a general analysis of a business Korean textbook for Chinese learners. Specifically, the textbook was examined by largely dividing it into external and internal structures. After dividing the internal structure into "purpose of compilation", "composition of the textbook", "learning contents", and "learning activity", the composition of the textbook was once again divided into "overall composition" and "unit composition", and the learning contents was further divided into "subject", "language content", and "supplementary knowledge." Furthermore, an analysis was conducted. The status and directions for future development of business Korean textbooks for Chinese learners are delineated and suggestions for improvement are provided. This study has its significant in that a general analysis was conducted on a business Korean textbook for Chinese learners, and is expected to be used as basic research material for the future development of business Korean textbooks.

Now, mathematics textbook is being developed in accordance with the 7th educational curriculum. It is expected that qualified textbook reflecting 'differentiated education' concept be developed and published. But there are still many limitations of textbook authorization system to develop 'such' textbook. Many authors of textbook have difficulty in developing creative and qualified textbooks in their own way. In this paper, we deal with what the authors should keep in mind and could reflect related on textbook authorization system in developing textbook. For this purpose, focusing on new 'content principle' of mathematics textbook authorization, the paper presented its educational background.

The purpose of this study was to develop the student-centered elementary science textbook model and explore the applicability of the school. For this study we conducted a literature survey and analysis of domestic and foreign books, surveys, and then developed a textbook model of student-centered instruction. We have selected the three elementary school, three grades, fifty-seven students to apply the model developed textbooks. Textbook model of Earth was developed as a center of student activity. Applying the results of development of textbooks in the field, students were interested about the student-centered textbooks and they were felt that the development of textbooks were textbook that students can study on their own. Through this research it could confirm that it should be provided feedback to causes of the reflective thinking of students in the textbook for the development of student-centered textbook.

The specialized textbook library provides resources for textbook publishers and textbook development professionals as well as others in related fields who are committed to the educational development of our country. The textbook library also supports research and education among the faculty and students. But, when examining the reality of the textbook specialized library, analysis concludes that it faces various problems such as state-supported operating budget shortfalls, weakness of public infrastructure, difficulty in collection of textbook-related data, and lack of inter-linked library systems. Thus, this study determined the development direction of the textbook specialized library through the process of literature analysis, case studies, and reflection of expert opinions. In this study, a long-term policy direction of the building and operating of textbook specialized libraries has been proposed as follows: organizing and operating a textbook specialized library, collecting and creating a list of textbook-related information resources, creating information strategy, and constructing specialized content for the textbook specialized library.

Mathematics textbooks as the main resources to support mathematical teaching and learning are used importantly in Korean lessons. Although the scope of mathematics textbook research has been expanded and the research has increased, few studies have analyzed the overall trends of mathematics textbook research in Korea. This study analyzes the overall trends of textbook research on 418 papers pertinent to mathematics textbooks published in domestic mathematics education journals. The results of this study showed that the proportion of textbook analysis research was the highest, followed by textbook use and textbook development research in order. There were more textbook studies at the elementary school level than at the middle or high school levels. Regarding textbook analysis studies, the most frequent topic was to analyze how specific mathematical concepts were presented in textbooks. Regarding textbook use studies, many studies asked both teachers and students to review the appropriateness of textbooks under development or analyzed the perception and use of specific activities of textbooks based on a survey. Regarding textbook development studies, the most popular topics included the directions and examples of new development, such as storytelling-based or electronic textbooks. This paper finally presented implications for textbook research in light of the domestic mathematics education context and the international mathematics textbook research trends.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the principles for the development of mathematics textbook based on storytelling through literature review, textbook development, and classroom implementation. Mathematics textbook based on storytelling has been developed to help students learn mathematics interesting and meaningful. The principle for the development principles include as the principle of context, process-oriented, communication, and diversity. The developed mathematics textbooks was implemented in high school mathematics classes in order to investigate the effectiveness of the textbooks. We analyzed the data collected by the survey and the interview to find that the mathematics textbook based on storytelling had positive effect on teaching and learning of mathematics. We discussed the implication for the future development and implementation of mathematics textbook based on storytelling.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for developing the Korean language textbooks for the purpose of mission. For this, three kinds of Korean language textbooks published were analyzed and evaluated. Based on the results of the analysis, this study showed to which direction the Korean language textbooks for mission should be developed. They were as follows. Frist, the balance of everyday language and bible language is important. Second, the differentiated textbooks should be published according to the different patterns of learners. Third, professionals in Korean language education and in Christian education should cooperate in the textbook development. Fourth, the professionalism for textbook development should be enhanced. Fifth, textbook development should be closely connected with teacher education.

The purpose of the study is to prospect the application of knowledge awareness system in the use of the digital textbook which is one of the main educational political projects based on the exploration of the awareness theory for the computer-supported collaborative learning. To do this, first, knowledge awareness theory for computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) as a rationale for digital textbook which supports the collaborative learning was introduced. Second, three functionalities of knowledge awareness systems were extracted by analyzing the representative knowledge awareness tools of CSCL environment. Third, application prospects of knowledge awareness system toward the development and utilization of digital textbook were presented. The paper suggested the need of more researches such as the prototype development of digital textbook which applies the knowledge awareness system's functionalities and empirical researches which examine their effectiveness and efficiency.
