  • Power system technologies in the area of smart grid are being converged with communication system technologies or information technologies(IT). This interdisciplinary action affects on two parts vigorously so that IT has become a essential part of power industry. But terminologies of two parts are confused and it is necessary that these are standardized to develop the industry. The interpretation works with scientific and technological standard of the smart grid terminologies which are IEC TC 57 glossary and non-glossary terminologies are introduced. Based on the interpretation works of the smart grid terminologies, an online terminology information system for the standardization of smart grid terminologies is proposed. The system provides the capability of collection and delivery of academic society opinions for the selected and interpreted terminologies.

  • It is confusing in Korean Society of Engineering Economy that terminologies of interest formula in Korean were defined differently literature by literature. In this paper, we proposed a rationale for standardization of interest formula by analyzing and comparing them from American, Japan, and Korean literatures. Twenty formulas of interest were interpreted into Korean language so that ones can identify by knowing their title.

  • To improve the efficiency of business, it is important to standardize the meaning of terminology. And then, terminology dictionaries have been actively being built and used in various fields. In defense area, the publication of defense terminology dictionary is useful for information exchange of each army and distribution of standardized terminology. Defense agency for technology and quality(DTaQ) publishes terminology dictionary of defense science and technology on a three-year cycle. DTaQ tries to standardize the construction process of terminology dictionary and improve service efficiency by using terminology dictionary in defense area. This proposed method is based on the result of previous study about standardization of terminology dictionary. We suggest the practical steps including terminology dictionary constructing process, composition and role of organization, definition of headword, selection of target documents to be extracted terminology candidate, terminology extraction, generation of terminology candidate group, workbench registration, construction and validation of terminology dictionary. Thesaurus and workbench are developed to use and support terminology dictionary effectively.

  • The motivation of this paper comes from a recognition that GIS educators in the private and public sectors are faced with both an opportunity and a dilemma. As the GIS vendors move to open systems which can be integrated with many traditional operations, the use of spatial data and analysis will become widespread throughout business, government and education. Hence the need for standardization in GIS fields is expanding rapidly. Especially non-standardized terminology of GIS prevents GIS-users from communicating among the GIS application fields. This paper will assist this shifting foundation by providing terminology control procedures for ISO/TC2ll family of standards and KS(Korea Standards) information terminology and make recommendations for the improvement and harmonization of terminology.

  • North-South Korean information technology(IT) terminologies are going to be gradually changed differently as the time is flowed. In accordance with the age of advanced information science and technology, the IT terminologies should be mutually identified and confirmed on the basis of ISO2382 Korean standardization being set up for the international IT terminologies made by the scholars both Republic of Korea(ROK) and Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea(DPRK). In the present study, the results of mutual efforts on IT standardization since 1994 has been firstly analyzed systematically for the advanced North-South Korean IT terminology. Secondly, the differences of the IT terminologies used currently in both ROK and DPRK have been also analyzed and classified in the three categories. Thirdly, the current IT terminologies used in both ROK and DPRK have been summarized on the basis of "Encyclopedia of 21 Century Computer Terminology." Fourth, it has been finally set up the construction scheme of conceptual system on compiling operations for the dictionary of North-South Korean IT terminologies.

  • As technology is developed, the quantity of new vocabularies is increasing more rapidly. So many vocabularies of technology have various meanings for each part and are used diversely according to circumstances. Therefore, the necessity of reseonable methods of standardization and purification is increasing and it is necessary to establish a classification system of terminology for the first phase of the standardization. In this papaer, the new classification system is proposed considering relation and unification with various fields

  • The purpose of the present study was to document the standardization and management process of interface terminology regarding the chief complaints, diagnoses, and procedures, including surgery in a four-hospital consortium. The process was proposed, discussed, modified, and finalized in 2016 by the Terminology Standardization Committee (TSC), consisting of personnel from four hospitals. A request regarding interface terminology was classified into one of four categories: 1) registration of a new term, 2) revision, 3) deleting an old term and registering a new term, and 4) deletion. A request was processed in the following order: 1) collecting testimonies from related departments and 2) voting by the TSC. At least five out of the seven possible members of the voting pool need to approve of it. Mapping to the reference terminology was performed by three independent medical information managers. All processes were performed online, and the voting and mapping results were collected automatically. This process made the decision-making process clear and fast. In addition, this made users receptive to the decision of the TSC. In the 16 months after the process was adopted, there were 126 new terms registered, 131 revisions, 40 deletions of an old term and the registration of a new term, and 1235 deletions.
