Heavily unintentionally doped n-type InGaP wa grown by LPE technique. Temperature and excitation power dependence of PL measurements were carried out to investigate the first observed 2.107 eV PL peak in $In_0.5$$Ga_0.5$P. Also the unintentionally doped major impurity was found to be sulfur through XRF technique.

In this study, ZnTe : S single crystal thin films substituted by sulfur were grown on GaAs (100) substrates by hot-wall epitaxy. The photoluminescence (PL) characteristics of ZnTe : S single crystal thin films was measured to investigate the effects due to sulfur atoms in the ZnTe layer. The Peak of 2.339 eV identified as the isoelectronic center was observed in low temperature PL spectrum, but PL spectra which the origin had not been well-explained were not observed. Temperature dependence of PL intensities of the light hole free exciton was explained by extrinsic self-trapping. Besides it is reported that the emission lines near absorption edge at room temperature were observed.

In this paper, temperature dependence of the excitonic bands in a mechanically exfoliated tungsten diselenide ($WSe_2$) monolayer is studied using photoluminescence and circular dichroic photoluminescence (PL) in the temperature range between 8 and 300 K. The peak energies associated with the neutral exciton (A), charged exciton (trion) and localized excitons are extracted from the PL spectra revealing a trion binding energy of around 30 meV. The circular dichroic PL measured at 8 K shows about 45% valley polarisation that sharply reduces with increasing temperature to 5% at 300 K with photoexcitation energy of 1.96 eV. A detailed analysis of the emission line-width suggests that the rapid decrease of valley polarisation with the increase of temperature is caused by the strong exciton-phonon interactions which efficiently scatter the excitons into different excitonic states that are easily accessible due to the supply of excess photoexcitation energy. The emission line-width broadening with the increase of temperature indicate residual exciton dephasing lifetime < 100 fs, that correlates with the observed rapid valley depolarisation.

Visible photoluminescence (PL) has been observed generally in the blue and green spectral region from anodically etched porous Ge as well as spark processed Ge. Porous Ge which is prepared by anodic etching without UV light illumination displays the PL peak max of 52 nm (2.38 eV), while porous Ge with UV light illumination exhibits PL peak blue shift to a 470 nm (2.63 eV). Spark processed Ge shows a PL peak max of 520 nm with shoulder peaks at 420 nm and 610nm. The values of energy shift as a function of decreasing temperature between 300 K and 20 K is 0.53 and $1.89\;meVK^{-1}$ for anodic etched Ge without UV illumination and with UV illumination, respectively. On the contrary, no continuous blue shift of PL peak as a function of decreasing temperature is observed for the green luminescing spark processed Ge. From the results of PL as a function of temperature the origin of blue and green luminescing anodically etched Ge as well as spark processed Ge is discussed.
We report a photoluminescence (PL) study on the growth process of self-assembled InAs quantum dots (QDs) under the various growth conditions. Distinctive double-peak feature was observed in the PL spectra of the QD samples grown at the relatively high substrate temperature. From the excitation power-dependent PL and the temperature-dependent PL measurements, the double-peak feature is associated with the ground state transitions from InAs QDs with two different size branches. In addition, the variation in the bimodal size distribution of the QD ensembles with different InAs coverage is demonstrated.
ZnO films were deposited on MgO substrates (ZnO/MgO) by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. Substrate temperature varied from $250^{\circ}C$ to $350^{\circ}C$. The crystallographic properties and surface morphologies of the ZnO/MgO films were studied by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The properties of photoluminescence (PL) for the films were investigated by dependence of PL spectra on the substrate temperature and the annealing temperature. The ZnO/MgO films prepared at $350^{\circ}C$ showed the strongest Ultraviolet light emission peak at 18 K and 300 K among the films in this study. The annealing process increases the visible light emission, which is due to the increased oxygen vacancies.

The authors have an extensive study of photoluminescences for Zn-polar and O-polar faces of single-crystalline ZnO bulks. In the photoluminescence (PL) spectra at 10 K, Zn-polar and O-polar faces show a common emission feature: neutral donor-bound excitons and their longitudinal-optical (LO) phonon replicas are strong, and free excitons are very weak. However, in the PL spectra at room temperature (RT), Zn-polar and O-polar faces show extremely different emission characteristics: the emission intensity of Zn-polar face is 30 times larger than that of O-polar face, and the band edge of Zn-polar face is 33 meV red-shifted from that of O-polar face. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence indicates that the PL spectra at RT are closely associated with free excitons and their phonon-assisted annihilation processes. As a result, it is found that the RT PL spectra of Zn-polar face is dominated by the first-order LO phonon replica of A free excitons, while that of O-polar face is determined by A free excitons. This is ascribed that Zn-polar face has larger exciton-phonon coupling strength than O-polar face.

The blue light emitting diode (LED) structure based on non-polar a-plane (11-20) GaN which was coated TiO2 nanoparticles using spin coating method was grown on r-plane (1-102) sapphire substrates to improve light extraction efficiency. We report on the emission and structural properties with temperature dependence of photoluminescence (PL) and x-ray rocking curves (XRC). From PL results at 13 K of undoped GaN samples, basal plane stacking fault (BSF) and near band edge (NBE) emission peak were observed at 3.434 eV and 3.484 eV, respectively. We also found the temperature-induced band-gap shrinkage, which was fitted well with empirical Varshini's equation. The PL intensity of TiO2 nanoparticles ?coated multiple quantum well (MQW) sample is decayed slower than that of no coating sample with increasing temperature. The anisotrophic strain and azimuth angle dependence in the films were shown from XRC results. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) along the GaN [11-20] and [1-100] directions were 564.9 arcsec and 490.8 arcsec, respectively. A small deviation of FWHM values at in-plane direction is attributed to uniform in-plane strain.

We have reported structural and optical properties of self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) grown by molecular beam epitaxy with different arsenic to indium flux ratios (V/III ratios). By increasing the V/III ratio from 9 to 160, average diameter and height of the InAs QDs decreased, but areal density of them increased. The InAs QDs grown under V/III ratio of 30 had a highest-aspect-ratio of 0.134 among them grown with other conditions. Optical property of the InAs QD was investigated by the temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) and integrated PL. From the temperature dependence PL measurements of InAs QDs, the activation energies of $E_{a1}$ and $E_{a2}$ for the InAs QDs were obtained $48{\pm}3meV$ and $229{\pm}23meV$, respectively. It was considered that the values of $E_{a1}$ and $E_{a2}$ are corresponded to the energy difference between ground-state and first excited state, and the energy difference between ground-state and wetting layer, respectively.

In this study, photoluminescence (PL) analysis was performed to evaluate the optical properties of commercial ZnO substrates. Particular attention was paid to the bound exciton (BX) luminescence, which is usually the strongest emission intensity of commercial substrates. At 15 K, PL analysis revealed that the BX peak due to donor-type impurities (donor-bound-exciton; DX) dominated, while two-electron satellite (TES) emission, donor-accepter pair (DAP) emission, and LO-phonon replica emission were also observed. The impurity concentration of the ZnO substrate was determined to be $10^{15}$ to $10^{16}/cm^3$ by examination of the temperature variation of DAP, while the half width and intensity change of the luminescence revealed that the temperature change of BX can be interpreted almost the same as the analysis of free-exciton emission.
