As data management and processing techniques have been developed rapidly in the era of big data, nowadays a lot of business companies and researchers have been interested in long tail data which were ignored in the past. This study proposes methods for generating and controlling a network of technical terms based on text mining technique to enhance data utilization in the distribution of long tail theory. Especially, an edit distance technique of text mining has given us efficient methods to automatically create an interlinking network of technical terms in the scholarly field. We have also used linked open data system to gather experimental data to improve data utilization and proposed effective methods to use data of LOD systems and algorithm to recognize patterns of terms. Finally, the performance evaluation test of the network of technical terms has shown that the proposed methods were useful to enhance the rate of data utilization.

Having a firm grasp of technical terms is essential for learners of Japanese for Specific Purposes (JSP). This research aims to analyze Japanese nursing care vocabulary based on objective corpus-based frequency and subjectively rated word familiarity. For this purpose, we constructed a text corpus centered on the National Examination for Certified Care Workers to extract nursing care keywords. The Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR) was used as the statistical criterion for keyword identification, giving a list of 300 keywords as target words for a further word recognition survey. The survey involved 115 participants of whom 51 were certified care workers (CW group) and 64 were individuals from the general public (GP group). These participants rated the familiarity of the target keywords through crowdsourcing. Given the limited sample size, Bayesian linear mixed models were utilized to determine word familiarity rates. Our study conducted a comparative analysis of word familiarity between the CW group and the GP group, revealing key terms that are crucial for professionals but potentially unfamiliar to the general public. By focusing on these terms, instructors can bridge the knowledge gap more efficiently.

The collections of university libraries such as books in academic disciplines and dissertations are much used to support education of students and research activities of faculty members. Most of such materials naturally contain unique terms frequently and exclusively used in specific academic disciplines. Therefore, it is possible to infer the latest research trend in or correlations among various disciplines by analyzing those terms. In this study, the trend was analyzed by extracting technical terms from the metatadata for collections in the field of computer science of two university libraries in Korea. By comparing these terms with the trend of terms which appeared in dissertations and domestic scholarly articles, the relation between collections of university libraries and research trend in this particular academic field was analyzed.

For a few recent years, KECA(Korea Electrical Contractor Association) has promoted a project to establish an electrical construction specification called Master Spec. This paper analyses the characteristics of standards-making process of the Master Spec. as an umbrella technical standard in electrical construction industry in Korea. This paper argues that even if the Master Spec. is recognized to be technical standards, the standards-making process involves both technical and social practices when viewed from social construction theory and governance perspective. This aspect of social practices in technical standards making should be well understood because various stakeholders in terms of interests, resources, and motives try to influence the process positively and negatively. KECA in responsible for enactment of the Mater Spec. should be very thoughtful in building consensus first of all among electrical contractors, managing relationship with concerned government officials, and dealing with potential deviant groups as well as in pooling expertises and developing technical knowledge needed for designing technical specification.

Structures are designed in such a way that they behave in a nonlinear manner when subject to strong ground motions. Energy concepts have been widely used to evaluate the structural performance for the last few decades. Energy based design can be expressed as the balance of energy input and the energy dissipation capacity of the structure. New research is needed for multi degree of freedom systems (MDOFs)-real structures- within the framework of the energy based design methodology. In this paper, energy parameters are evaluated for low-, medium- and high-rise steel special concentrically braced frames (SCBFs) in terms of total energy input and hysteretic energy. Nonlinear dynamic time history analyses are carried out to assess the variation of energy terms along the height of the frames. A seismic energy demand spectrum is developed and hysteretic energy distributions within the frames are presented.

In this paper, we analyzed the relationship between user query keywords that is used to search NDSL and technical terms extracted from NDSL journals. For the analysis, we extracted about 833,000 query keywords from NDSL search logs during nearly 17 months and approximately 41,000,000 technical terms from NDSL, INSPEC, FSTA journals. And we used only the English noun phrase in extracted those and then we did an experiment on analysis of equality, relationship analysis and frequency analysis.

Purpose: This study examined the importance and satisfaction of consumer's perception of the information delivery format of products and services required and recommended by KS A ISO / IEC Guide 13: 2003 and KS A ISO / IEC Guide 37: 2003. Methods: In this study, the importance and satisfaction of clarity, principles of information transfer, how to use expressions and technical terms, and technical terms, warning signs, and durability were investigated. Results: The t-test analysis of the importance and satisfaction of the Writing Rules of the product user guide showed that all items had statistically significant differences. The importance of the writing rules of the product user guide for the use of the product was in the order of warning signs (4.423), how to use expressions and technical terms (4.215), principles of information transfer (4.163), clarity (3.914), and finally durability (3.851). Conclusion: Among the 'explanation,' 'instruction' and 'warning' functions of the Product User Guide, the consumer uses the manual to identify the inherent dangers and misuse of the product. Besides, since the life of the product is prolonged, the Product User Guide also needs to improve the quality of the cover or paper so that it can use for a long time.

This study aimed to develop methods for technical design education that can be intimately connected to the industrial field. For this, technical design jobs performed in the fields of the domestic and foreign fashion industries and their required competences were examined, and educational methods based on constructivism were proposed. Korean fashion technical designers' works were identified, and then the fashion technical designer's responsibilities and qualifications were collected and analyzed from global employment sites. On the basis of the collection and analysis, hands-on staff members and education experts were interviewed about required competences for the actual business and possible suitable methods for education. The results of research showed that in the case of the US, job systems and relevant duties for technical designers were clearly defined by clothing brands, whereas in Korea, businesses were systematized around vendors, not brands, and as a result the businesses of technical package composition and specification proposals were not performed properly. This study organized the contents of technical design education into fit development and specification, the composition of technical design packages, the evaluation and approval of samples, fit schedule management and fitting, block pattern setting and pattern correction, sewing specifications appropriate for styles and materials, grading, technical terms, and production management. As for the technical design education models, the cognitive apprenticeship model, resource-based learning, the problem-based and anchored model, and the problem-based and resource-based models were proposed.

Index is a systematic guide to items contained in, or concepts derived from, a collection, Thus, it is represented as a paired set of index terms (t) and documents (D) : I= {(t,D) vertical bar t .mem. V, D .mem. W), where V is index vocabulary and W is document collection. Indexing is the process of analysing the informational content of records of knowledge and expressing the informational content in the language of the indexing system. It involves: 1) Selecting indexable concepts in a document; and 2) expressing these concepts in the language of the indexing system (as index entries): and an ordered list. Indexing process involves technical, semantic and syntactic problems. Technical problems are related to the accuracy of indexing, which is primarily governed by the indexer's ability of analysing subject, identifying indexable concepts, and coding. The proper levels of indexing exhaustivity, and index language specificity are also significant factors affecting the quality of index. Semantic problems are related to the choice of index terms and the form in which they should be used. Equivalent, hierarchical and affinitive/associative relationships of index terms are involved. Syntactic problems are largely related to the coordination of index terms. This process of coordination arises from the need to be able to search for the intersection of two or more classes defined by terms denoting distinct concepts. Finally, most valuable aspects of alphabetical subject indexing theories and practices are derived from those of Cutter, Kaiser, Ranganathan, Coates, Lynch and Austin, and discussed in details.

The present status of technical development of a highly scalable, high-speed non-volatile PCM is overviewed. Major technical challenges are described along with solutions that are being pursued in terms of innovative device structures and fabrication technologies, new phase change materials, and new memory schemes.
