According to TIMSS, secondary math teachers in Korea has lower confidence compare to other countries, despite the fact that teachers' confidence of teaching is an important variable. This not only influences the student's improvement but, also the quality improvement of teachers' career. Therefore, this study explores the effect of secondary math teachers' confidence according to the context variables such as teaching years, teaching preparation, collaboration with other teachers, and teaching limitation. Additionally, these context variables' $R^2$ toward the change of teaching confidence is also included. Results indicate that teaching preparation, collaboration with other teachers, and teaching limitation contribute in the confidence of teaching. $R^2$ of the change of teaching confidence shows large contribution to teaching preparation which does not accomplish with other variables.
The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of background variables, development stage, and perception of accountability on kindergarten teachers' adaptation to the teaching profession. The researchers surveyed 224 teachers in public and private kindergarten. The results of the study are as follows: First, in terms of age, the older they were, the better teachers adjusted to the teaching profession. As for their teaching career, the more teaching experience they had, the better teachers adapted to the teaching profession, but there were no significant differences between 6-10 years and more than 11 years. As to the level of education, four-year college graduates or graduate school graduates adjusted better than two-year college graduates. Second, teachers in the Capability Development Stage and Growth-Enthusiasm Stage showed a higher degree of adaptation than those in the Entrance-Acceptance Stage. Finally, the higher perception of accountability they have, the better teachers could adapt to the teaching profession. Among the categories of accountability, the professional accountability affected most highly the teachers' adaptation to the teaching profession.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate patient safety teaching competency of nursing faculty and the extent of teaching patient safety topics in the nursing curriculum. Methods: A national survey was conducted with full-time nursing faculty in 4-year nursing schools. Regional quota sampling method was used. An online survey was sent to 1,028 nursing faculty and 207 of them were completed. Among the 207, we analyzed data from 184 participants. The revised Health Professional Education in Patient Safety Survey was used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analyses. Results: The faculty's self-confidence was lower than their perceived importance of patient safety education. The mean score of teaching patient safety was $3.52{\pm}0.67$ out of 5, and the contents were mostly delivered through lectures. The extent of faculty's teaching varied depending on faculty's clinical career, teaching subjects, participation in practicum courses, and previous experience of patient safety education. The significant predictors of the extent of teaching patient safety were the faculty's self-confidence in teaching patient safety (${\beta}=.39$) during clinical practicum, their perceived importance of patient safety education during lectures (${\beta}=.23$), and the teaching subject (${\beta}=.15$). Conclusion: To enhance the competency of nursing faculty for effective patient safety education, a patient safety education program tailored to faculty characteristics should be developed and continuously provided for faculty. In addition, it is necessary to improve patient safety curriculum, strengthen clinical and school linkages, and utilize various education methods in patient safety education.
The purpose of this study was to analyze elementary school teachers' understanding, certainty, and familiarity with 13 key concepts of wave physics that are presented in textbook and teacher's guidebook. 123 elementary school teachers answered concept tests and questionnaires. In the results to these tests and questionnaires, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding and high certainty in understanding with regard to the concepts of sound generation, effect of medium on wave, timbre, wavelength, and trough and crest of wave. For the topics of sound velocity, wave reflection and wave transmission, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding but low certainty in understanding. With regard to sound propagation, teachers demonstrated a low level of understanding and an improperly high certainty in that low understanding. Teachers lacked knowledge, i.e., displayed a low level of understanding and low certainty in sound strength, sound frequency, constructive interference and destructive interference. In constructive and destructive interference, the teachers also displayed a low level of familiarity. We analyzed the differences in teacher's understanding, certainty, and familiarity according to teacher demographics defined by the teacher's gender, teaching experience with concepts of sound, career, curriculum track while in high school, and major in university. There were no significant differences in understanding, certainty, or familiarity as defined by gender, teaching experience, and career. However, these displays of knowledge were affected by the teacher's curriculum track in high school and their major. These results suggest that the teacher's understanding of, familiarity with, and certainty in wave physics concepts are more influenced by their learning experience than by their teaching experience. Therefore, we suggest additional learning opportunities for teachers (such as teacher training programs) in order to improve teacher knowledge and correct teacher misconceptions in wave physics.

The purpose of this study is to systematically develop an impression management education program for career women by applying the Educational System Development Model [ESD] (Kwon, 1997) based on the research results of Hwang and Lee(2019) on social attractiveness. Since the previous impression management education programs were generally developed by content experts, few of them were developed systematically by considering the learner characteristics, clearly setting the educational goals, and structuring the contents accordingly. In this study, 'social attractiveness' defined by Hwang and Lee (2019) was considered as the educational goal of the impression management education program. In particular, this study focused on the design stage of the ESD model, set teaching goals based on the components of social attractiveness derived from previous studies, and conducted an analysis of teaching activities, the establishment of the educational goals at the specific function level, allocation of time, and establishment of an evaluation plan. The research process was intended to improve the learners' social image directly related to success through a systematic educational program designed to enhance the social attractiveness of working women with various hands-on activities and information. The impression management education program designed in this study has the educational advantage of a learner-centered education program configured to meet the needs and goals of career women. In addition, based on the ESD model, the sub-factors necessary for impression management were identified, and the curriculum was configured to reflect them through mutual communication between the instructor and learners. Therefore, this education program meets the basic requirements of impression management education necessary for career women and is expected to contribute to enhancing the social attractiveness of working women.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the educational factors on career choice of science-gifted students to science and technology bound universities and the difference of perception in regards to group factors. In addition, this study aimed to examine the effects of science-gifted education and critical events in relation to career choice to science and technology bound universities. For the study, 104 university freshmen, 75 males and 29 females, were sampled from UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology), that many science high school graduates entered this year. The survey was conducted with questionnaires to do with the perceptions concerning career choice and educational factors that cause them to choose such career directions. The educational factors on career choice to science and technology bound universities were classified as 3 main categories such as educational environment factor (teaching-learning factor), human factor, attitude towards science factor and the subcategories within each category. The research findings are as follows: First, the factors were closely connected with each other and 'the project centered classes' were highly interrelated with other educational environment factors such as 'the experiment activity and environment for the activity' and 'influence of teachers (professors).' Second, the female students and graduates of the science high school were more positively influenced by the educational environment and human factors on their decision for career than male students and graduates of the general high school. Third, this research found that historical scientific knowledge, perception of scientists' social status and job applications in the science field gave less influence rather than other factors on their decision for career. As a result of examining critical events for science-gifted education in relation to career choice to science and technology bound universities, numerous students mentioned that the extracurricular science activities such as science camps and field trips gave significant effects on students' career choices to science and engineering fields.

Science career education is for every student as well as for students who want to become scientists. In this study, we developed and applied science career education materials using TV programs which showed successful application of science in industry and business. The effects of the programs were surveyed mainly by questionnaire on 'Science Career Orientation', which have four categories.Video materials using TV programs were effective in changing science career orientation (p<0.05) of junior high school students, but only when the teacher added some cognitive explanation on the scientific concept involved. Providing only video materials were not enough to make meaningful change on science career orientation. The results implied science career education should be linked with science teaching and learning. It also showed the possibility and the way of using informal education like TV program in science career education.
The change in health care environment increases the importance of Visiting Nursing Services Program. It has been performed by nurses of district health centers in Seoul since 1991. The Achievement of Visiting Nursing Services Program will be dependent upon their activities. The purpose of this study was to identify the Performance of Visiting Nurses and Job satisfaction of district health centers in Seoul. Therefore, it was to provide the fundamental data development of Visiting Nursing Services Program. The subjects were 214 Visiting Nurses of district health centers in Seoul. The data was collected by self reporting questionnaire from April 15 to April 30, 1997. Their performances and various supportive factors were measured with the instruments developed by the researcher. Job satisfaction were also measured by the instrument developed by Slavitt et al. (1978) was used. The data were, analyzed by Cronbach Alpha, mean, standard deviation, percentage, t -test, ANOVA Duncan test, Correlation Coefficient, and Stepwise Multiple Regression with SAS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The average of budget of Visiting Nursing Services Program of district health centers was 0.9% and the average of visiting nursing services personnel of district health centers was 10.1%. 2. With regard to the job satisfaction of Visiting Nurses the mean score was 2.92 out of 5. While the level of Job prestige / status presented as a mean score of 3.48 which was the largest among the 7 components of job satisfaction, the level of administration was the lowest showing 2.57 scores respectively. There were significant differences in the job satisfaction by age, working career of health centers(p<0.01, 0.001). 3. The average of the performance level of Visiting Nurses variables was 2.29; The variable with highest degree of performance was the teaching & consultation, establishment of performance plan, whereas the on with the lowest degree was the directive nursing services. The significant difference was found in performance level according to age, structure type of visiting nursing services, working career of health centers and working career of visiting nursing services(p<0.05). 4. With regard to the perception of the performance expertise by the Visiting Nurses the mean score was 2.37 : The variable with highest degree of performance expertise was the teaching & consultation, establishment of performance plan, whereas the on with the lowest degree was management of home-environment. The significant difference was found in performance expertise according to working career outside of health centers(p<0.05). 5. With regard to the perception of the performance necessity by the Visiting Nurses the mean was 2. 40 : the variable with highest degree of performance necessity was the teaching & consultation, establishment of performance plan, whereas the on with the lowest degree was directive nursing services. The significant difference was found in performance necessity according to working career of visiting nursing services(p<0.05). 6. A positive correlation was found between job satisfaction and performance level(r=.3731, P<0.001). Also, a weak positive correlation was found between the components of job satisfaction and performance level. 7. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor was the variance of job satisfaction(R=.3557, $R^2$=.1265). Structure type of visiting nursing services and working career of visiting nursing services accounted for 19.0% of the variance in performance level in nurses. In conclusion, Job satisfaction, Structure type of visiting nursing services and Working career of visiting nursing services variables had influenced on performance level in health centers. Further research is required to confirm these findings.
The aim of this study is to present preliminary results from an ongoing large-scale study of English-language future goal orientations held by Japanese university students. The work here involves an investigation of learners in multiple disciplines, from five universities, both public and private, in the Kanto-region of Japan, and their perspective on their future use of English. The results summarize written essays on L2-goal orientations. Preliminary results indicate Japanese learners (n = 629) as a whole have disparate L2-learning goals; however, these can be summarized into four broad categories: career, personal life, study, and general; and early findings indicate that most learners (63.56%) are oriented to career or personal goal orientations, while others are oriented to study and general. These early results help us to gain a better understanding of the future goals of Japanese university learners and their views of English usage in the future.
This study explored the beliefs and practices of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) in 83 principals and 83 teachers of public and private kindergartens in Pusan and Ulsan. The research instruments was a teacher questionnaire by Kang(2000). Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. Results showed that educational and career variables were unrelated to the DAP beliefs of principals, but there were differences in DAP beliefs by career variables of teachers. Teachers' use of DAP varied as a function of children's age and of combined levels of beliefs of principals and teachers.
