  • This study was based on the 'Escape Theory' model suggested by Baumeister(1990). Based on this analysis framework, this study attempted to examine that complicated direct and indirect effect of school risk factors(risk of academic scores, risk of relation with teacher and risk of peer relation) on suicide ideation in adolescence, through negative self-esteem, depression and withdrawal coping. To this end, this study used the data from the '2008 Gyeongsangbuk-Do youth crisis survey' conducted by the Youth service center in province of Gyeongsangbuk-Do. The target number of this study was 2,335 students in the age group of middle school and high school. The result of the Analysis indicate that risk of relation with teacher among school risk factors was only one which affected directly and indirectly on suicide ideation. The other side, risk of academic scores and risk of peer relation had indirect effects, via negative self-esteem, depression and withdrawal coping. In conclusion, this study confirmed that school risk factors had effects on suicide ideation directly or indirectly, they were complicatedly connected, through negative self-esteem, depression and withdrawal coping. Therefore, Prevention program for adolescence' suicide ideation or suicide risk require integrated strategies and tactics.

Also we verified whether self-respect and relationship with teachers mediates relation between abuse and neglect experience and variance of emotional problem. The results of this study are as follows. First, adolescents who experienced abuse and neglect appear to have emotional problems such as depression, social withdrawal, and somatic symptoms. Furthermore, youth who have abuse and neglect experience have difficulties in self-respect and relation with teachers. Second, self-respect and relationship with teachers have significant indirect effect on relation between abuse and neglect experience and variance of emotional problem. Third, although relation between abuse and neglect experience and relationship with teachers represent positive correlation, the regression coefficients in the direct path are significant in the opposite direction, resulting in a suppression effect. Finally, implications for interventions, limitations of the study, and suggestions for future research were discussed.

  • Objective: This study was conducted to examine the mediating effects of play teaching efficacy in the relationship between the organizational health of teacher workplaces and the creative personality of the teachers. Methods: The Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and one-way ANOVA were conducted for data analysis using SPSS 25.0. For mediating analysis, Baron & Kenny's (1986) multiple regression analysis using SPSS 25.0 and the Sobel test were also implemented. Results: There were significant differences in the organizational health of the workplaces according to age, years of working experience, type of workplace, and daily working hours. For play teaching efficacy, there were significant differences according to age, education level, years of working experience, type of workplace, and daily working hours of the teacher. On the other hand, significant differences were found in terms of age and education level in relation to the teacher having a creative personality. Play teaching efficacy was found to have a full mediation effect on the relationship between the organizational health of the workplace and the creative personality of the teacher. Conclusion/Implications: The organizational health of the workplace and play teaching efficacy should be improved in order to enhance the creative personality of teachers in early childhood education.

Therefore, this study sought to examine the perception of childcare teachers' rights in order to identify the concepts of teacher rights. Methods: This study used the concept mapping method to identify the concepts of childcare teachers' teacher rights and interpreted these concepts utilizing the multi-dimension analysis method. Results: As a result of interviews from eight childcare teachers, 37 statements were derived. The result of similarities evaluated by 28 childcare teachers showed that 37 statements about teachers' rights consisted of two dimensions and four clusters (direct-indirect and indoor-outdoor of day-care center). Conclusion/Implications: This study suggested that direct and indirect efforts are needed to enhance the rights of childcare teachers and that change is necessary not only within daycare centers such as the principal but that change is also necessary outside daycare centers such as at government agencies in relation to daycare teachers's rights.

  • This study investigates ethical dilemmas of teacher-librarians in their professional practice. Within the framework of "Librarians' Statement of Ethics" by Korean Library Association, the study used the survey and semi-structured interview with teacher-librarians. 259 teacher-librarians responded the survey and 5 teacher-librarians participated the interview. The survey was analyzed using descriptive statistics to find how often teacher-librarians experience ethical dilemmas. The semi-structured interview was transcribed and analyzed to draw the individual cases of teacher-librarians' ethical dilemmas. The results indicate that teacher-librarians experience ethical dilemmas in relation to information access and intellectual freedom most often. It was difficult for teacher-librarians to relate their professional duties with their expertise and that they were not clear on how to avoid copyright issues and how to deal with the balance between users and copyright holders. This study had implications that individual dilemma cases are so context-dependent that teacher-librarians had to make decisions individually. They tried hard to find the balance between protecting students from harmful resources and library ethics. Researchers and practitioners need focus more on finding where the balance is and how teacher-librarians deal with their ethical dilemmas.
