Bioconversion of Straw Into Improved Fodder: Mycoprotein Production and Cellulolytic Acivity of Rice Straw Decomposing Fungi

  • Sixty two out of the sixty four species of fungal isolates tested could produce both $exo-{\beta}1,4-gluconase\;(C_1)$ and $endo-{\beta}1,4-gluconase\;(C_x)$ on pure cellulose and rice straw as carbon source in Czapek's medium. Fifty-eight and fifteen species were able to grow at $25^{\circ}C$ and at $45^{\circ}C$, respectively. Eleven species could grow at both $25^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$ while, four species appeared only at $45^{\circ}C$. The most cellulolytic species at $25^{\circ}C$ was Trichoderma koningii producing 1.164 $C_1$ (mg glucose/1 ml culture filtrate/1 hr) and 2.690 $C_x$ on pure cellulose, and 0.889 $C_1$, and 1.810 $C_x$ on rice straw, respectively. At $45^{\circ}C$, the most active thermotolerant species were Aspergillus terreus, followed by A. fumigatus. Talaromyces thermophilus was the highest active thermophilic species followed by Malbranchea sulfurea. Most of these species were also active in fermentation of rice straw at 25 and $45^{\circ}C$ (P<0.05). The most active ones were T. koningii, A. ochraceus and A. terreus, which produced 201.5, 193.1 and 188.1 mg crude protein/g dry straw, respectively.

SPECT/CT에서 서로 다른 에너지의 방사성동위원소 사용시 영상보정기법의 유용성 평가 (The Evaluation of Image Correction Methods for SPECT/CT in Various Radioisotopes with Different Energy Levels)

  • 본 연구에서는 각기 다른 에너지의 방사성동위원소를 이용하여 CT를 기초로 한 attenuation correction (AC)과 scatter correction (SC)을 적용했을 때 영상의 질을 비교분석하고 영상보정기법의 유용성에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. Resolution 평가를 위해 사용된 spatial resolution phantom 내부에 물을 채우고 각각의 동위원소 $^{99m}Tc$ (140 keV, 2.22 kBq), $^{201}Tl$ (70 keV, 2.22 kBq), $^{131}I$ (364 keV, 2.22 kBq)을 line에 주입하여 제작하였다. Contrast 평가를 위해 이용한 Jaszczak phantom은 배후방사능과 열소원통의 비율이 1:8이 되도록 각각의 동위원소를 주입하여 제작하였다. GE Infinia Hawkeye4 SPECT/CT (GE Medical System, USA)로 영상을 획득하고, non-correction (NC), AC, SC, AC와 SC가 동시에 적용된(ACSC) 4가지 조건으로 OSEM (2 iterations, 10 subsets)을 이용하여 영상을 각각 재구성하였다. FWHM값은 paired samples t-test를 통하여 유의수준 관계를 분석하였고, percent contrast (%)값은 MATLAB (Ver.7.0)$^{(R)}$과 MRIcro$^{(R)}$를 이용하여 각각의 수치를 비교하였다. $^{99m}Tc$의 resolution test에서 NC, AC, SC, ACSC를 각각 적용했 을 때 FWHM (mm)값은 각각 $4.97{\pm}0.46$, $4.73{\pm}0.27$, $49.7{\pm}0.39$, $4.60{\pm}0.26$, $^{201}Tl$에서는 $5.26{\pm}0.28$, $5.14{\pm}0.21$, $5.25{\pm}0.25$, $5.05{\pm}0.23$, $^{131}I$에서는 $6.24{\pm}0.73$, $5.84{\pm}0.57$, $6.24{\pm}0.69$, $5.98{\pm}0.52$의 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 각 방사성 동위원소의 결과 값에서 NC와 비교하여 AC, ACSC를 적용했을 때 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였고(P<0.05), SC만을 적용했을 때는 유의한 차이가 없음을 보여주었다(P>0.05). Contrast test에서는 percent contrast(%) 를 4개의 원통에 대한 값을 구했고, NC와 비교했을 때 AC, SC, ACSC의 percent difference (%)가 $^{99m}Tc$은 24.73, 38.10, 67.31, $^{201}Tl$은 30.90, 51.82, 86.02, $^{131}I$에서는 18.60, 46.26, 73.67의 차이를 보였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면 $^{99m}Tc$, $^{201}Tl$ 과 같은 낮은 에너지를 가진 핵종에 대해서는 ACSC를 동시에 적용한 영상에서 resolution 향상이 가장 크게 나타났지만, $^{131}I$ 같은 높은 에너지의 핵종에서는 AC만 적용되었을 때 ACSC를 적용했을 때보다 영상의 질이 더 향상됨을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 SPECT/CT 검사 시 사용되는 핵종의 에너지에 따라 적절한 영상보정기법을 적용한다면 정확한 진단을 위한 최적의 영상을 얻을 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • Recently, there are many studies for the micro-machining using Piezo actuator. However, because of its step-by-step motion, it is nearly impossible to increase the machining accuracy for a circular path. To increase the accuracy, it is well known that it is necessary the finer and synchronous movement for x-y axes. Therefore, this paper proposes an adaptive control for finer movement of the actuator, and realizes a synchronous control for the x-y axes. The experimental results show that the machining accuracy is remarkably improved.

An Enhanced Architecture of CMOS Phase Frequency Detector to Increase the Detection Range

  • The phase frequency detector (PFD) is one of the most important building blocks of a phase locked Loop (PLL). Due to blind-zone problem, the detection range of the PFD is low. The blind zone of a PFD directly depends upon the reset time of the PFD and the pre-charge time of the internal nodes of the PFD. Taking these two parameters into consideration, a PFD is designed to achieve a small blind zone closer to the limit imposed by process-voltage-temperature variations. In this paper an enhanced architecture is proposed for dynamic logic PFD to minimize the blind-zone problem. The techniques used are inverter sizing, transistor reordering and use of pre-charge transistors. The PFD is implemented in 180 nm technology with supply voltage of 1.8 V.

아동성폭력 예방을 위한 행동기술훈련의 효과에 관한 연구 (The Effectiveness of Behavioral Skill Training for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of teaching personal safety skills for prevention of potential child sexual abuse in Korean society. The subjects of this study were 80 first grade female students, sampled from elementary schools in Seoul. The instruments of this study were the Personal Safety Questionnaire (PSQ) and 'What if' Situations Test (WIST) modified by the present researcher. The t-test and Pearson's correlation coefficient were applied to analyze the data of this study. The results of the analysis were (1) after the Behavioral Skills Training, the children of the training group showed a higher level of knowledge about child sexual abuse than the control group. (2) After the Behavioral Skills Training, the children of the training group showed more adequate self-defensive skills than the control group when they faced situations of possible child sexual abuse. (3) The higher the level of knowledge about child sexual abuse, the more adequate self-defensive skills in situations of child sexual abuse. These results supported the effectiveness of Behavioral Skills Training as preventive education on potential child sexual abuse.

MAGNETIC FIELDS IN STARS AND DISKS

  • Magnetic fields are thought to playa role in a wide variety of important astrophysical processes, from angular momentum transport and jet formation in accretion disks to corona formation in stars. Unfortunately, the dynamics of magnetic fields in astrophysical plasmas are extremely complicated, and the success of current theoretical models and computer simulations seems to be inversely correlated with the amount of observational detail available to us. Here I will discuss some of the more striking conflicts between numerical simulations and observations, and present an explanation for them based on an important dynamical process which is not adequately modeled in current numerical simulations. These processes will lead to the formation of flux tubes in stars and accretion disks, in accordance with observations. I will discuss some of the implications of flux tube formation for stellar and accretion disk dynamos.

더스트 클라우드 내에서의 화염 진행과 연소 한계 (Flame Propagation in Dust Cloud and its Flammability Limits)

  • Wheat dust cloud를 $5{\times}5{\times}214.1cm^3$ square tube내부에 발생시켜 화염의 전달과 연소 한계에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 사용된 미립자는 $160{\mu}m-300{\mu}m$의 크기로 분류되어 주로 사용되었고 $300{\mu}m-325{\mu}m$크기의 미립자가 더불어 사용되었다. 연소 튜브는 연료로 사용되는 미립자를 튜브의 상단에서부터 컨베이어 벨트를 사용해서 공급받아 튜브의 하단에서 전기코일을 사용하여 점화시키는 구조로 고안되었다. 화염의 최대 진행속도는 작은 크기와 보다 큰 크기의 미립자를 사용했을 때가 각각 523cm/sec와 373cm/sec로 측정되었다. 연소 속도는 입자의 크기와 집접도(concentration)에 따라 변화를 보였는데 최소 3cm/sec에서 최대 7.5cm/sec로 관측되었다. 그러나 화염의 두께는 놀랍게도 입자의 집접도와 큰 연관이 없어 보였는데, 이는 앞으로도 보다 많은 연구를 통한 검증이 필요하리라 생각된다. 끝으로 fuel rich flammability는 $790g/m^3$으로 stoichiometric mixture $230g/m^3$에 비교해 월등히 높은 값으로 관측되었다.
