  • Specimens of the genus Orobdella Oka, 1895 from Korea, including various locations in the Korean Peninsula, were identified as Orobdella tsushimensis Nakano, 2011. Phylogenetic analyses using mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI), ND1, $tRNA^{Cys}$, $tRNA^{Met}$, 12S rRNA, $tRNA^{val}$, and 16S rRNA markers show that the newly collected specimens form a monophyletic group with the known O. tsushimensis specimens. The genetic distance of COI of these specimens was in the range 0.4-6.6%. These results confirm that the newly collected specimens belong to O. tsushimensis. This is the first record of the genus Orobdella from the Korean Peninsula.

  • The problems of determining appropriate QOS(Quality of service) requirements of B-ISDN services and finding the corresponding NP(Network Performance) values satisfying the given QOS requirements are very important problems which are directly related to the successful operation of the ATM network, but have not been studied with enough attention yet. The QOS(NP) parameter definition, QOS measurements, and QOS managements are three major problems that should be solved. In this paper, we first introduce the basic concepts of QOS and NP and their relationships. Then we discuss more comprehensive concepts of QOS based on the layered structure of ATM services and the reference time, which can provide a systematic approach for QOS and NP mapping problems. We also provide examples of determining basic QOS(NP) parameters in the ATM layer and a specific example of QOS mapping based on the file transfer in ATM. The results of this paper can be used to establish the comprehensive QOS management model.

  • Since information systems have been treated as a management tool, a model is required to express and analyze and organizational point of view. Futher, a systematic methodology is required to analyze and diagnose organizational processes to improve them. To improve existing organizational processes, it is needed to describe all the processes performed in each department and their relationships to staffs, resources, and other processes of the organization. However, because of the complexity and unstructureness of the processes, this task is very difficult. We proposed an organizational process model which expresses organizational information on processes, departments, staffs, and resources. Based on this model, we have developed a management information database and a computerized tool which help analyze and diagnose organizational processes. The organizational process model, management information database, the automated tool may be used for BR(Business Re-engineering).

  • This paper describe the development of a systematic method of slicing solid parts based on a data structure called Sliced Profile Data Structure(SPDS). SPDS is an augmented polygon data structure that allows multiple layers of sliced profiles to be connected together. The method consists of five steps: (1) Selection of slicing directions, (2) Determination of slicing levels, (3) Creation of sliced profiles, (4) Connection of sliced profiles, and (5) Refinement. The presented method is aimed at enhancing the applicability of CSG for manufacturing by overcoming the problem of non-uniqueness and global nature. The SPDS-based method of feature extraction is suitable for recognizing broad scope of features with detailed information. The method is also suitable for identifying the global relationships among features and is capable of incorporating the context dependency of feature extraction.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the elements forming traditional houses and to find meaning of them by searching relationships among the elements and paradigms which had been used in making living spaces in that era. For analyzing traditional living spaces, traditional houses in the Namsan valley are sellected and which have been examined with the Pierce's semiotic theory. Through the semiotic analysis of spaces, the meaning of constituents forming spaces can be observed in the systematic as well as comprehensive points of view, and the paradigms that consists of the era can be redefined flexibly and this flexible concepts enables people to see their environment including human being broad and enriched.

  • This paper deals with the construction of database system for the human sensibility evaluation.Recently, although a great deal of research efforts have been made to find out the relationships between products and emotion, the main focus of studies have been on visual and auditory sense and less on human sensibility evaluation. Therefore, we think that continuous and systematic studies on odors and the construction of database system are strongly needed in order to enhance the competitive power of products related to them.In this paper, we developed a human sensibility evaluation database system fitted with the characteristics of our country. 쏜 design procedures of database system are presented. According to these procudures, a new database system is implemented on personal computer using MS Access and Visual and is validated.

  • This paper presents a distribution simulation model for dual purpose improved conventional munitions based on flight test data. A systematic procedure for designing a dispersion simulation model is proposed. A new accumulated broken line graph was suggested for designing the distribution shape. In the process of verification and simulation for the distribution simulation model, verification was performed by first comparing data with firing test results, and an application simulation was then conducted. The Monte Carlo method was used in the simulations, which reflected the relationship between ejection conditions and real distribution data. Before establishing the simulation algorithm, the dominant ejection parameter of the submunitions was examined. The relationships between ejection conditions and distribution results were investigated. Five key distribution parameters were analyzed with respect to the ejection conditions. They reflect the characteristics of clustered particle dynamics and aerodynamics.

  • We have recognized that an organization should be viewed from a multifaceted perspective necessitating a sophisticated analytical and systematic approach to monitor and improve organizational performance. Although some performance measurement systems have been proposed and are currently being used in many organizations, no performance measurement system has presented a mechanism for integrating all of the information of performance measures in a way that considers relationships between them. This paper introduces the implementation of the performance information integration method(PIIM) which synthesizes all useful information of performance measures with consideration of the relationship and generates a single, global, organizational performance score. The PIIM was empirically validated by implementing in one of Missouri Veterans Homes

  • This work presents the relationship between the domains of Human Factors Integration(HFI) to develop the weapon systems through integrating human factors into the defense acquisition program. The HFI is a systematic process for identifying, tracking and resolving human related issues ensuring a balanced development of both technologies and human aspects of capability. In this point of view, this paper identifies and analyzes the HFI domains. Based on the results, this paper presents the relationships between the domains of the HFI.

  • Traffic density has increased recently in Korean waters due to an expansion of the sea trade and the development of coastal fisheries. The enlargement of the coastal industrial belts and the development of coastal inslands further increases marine traffic. The rapid increase of marine traffic has often resulted in marine casualties with the attendant loss of life, damage to property, and marine pollution. Especially, tanker casualties may destroyed the food web and an untold amount of ocean resources. Un regard to the potential of tanker spills in Korean waters, systematic research in this field is lacking. In this paper, the data relating to a total of 261 tanker casualties in Korean waters has been compiled and statistically anlaysed. The result of this study describes the general trend of marine casualties in Korean waters, and describes the casualtiy database, from which their causes and consequences are derived and this results in the determination of the causal relationships connected to tanker casualties, and quantifies the effective level of causal factorsin Korean waters.
