  • Most first kind integral equations are ill-posed, and obtaining their numerical solution often requires solving a linear system of algebraic equations of large condition number, which may be difficult or impossible. This article proposes a regularization-direct method to numerically solve first kind Fredholm integral equations. The vector forms of block-pulse functions and related properties are applied to formulate the direct method and reduce the integral equation to a linear system of algebraic equations. We include a regularization scheme to overcome the ill-posedness of integral equation and obtain a stable numerical solution. Some test problems are solved using the proposed regularization-direct method to illustrate its efficiency for solving first kind Fredholm integral equations.

  • This paper studies on the feedback linearization of the looper system for hot strip mills, where the looper system plays an important role in regulating the strip tension. Firstly, nonlinear dynamic equations of the looper system are simply introduced. Secondly, using the static feedback linearization algorithm, a linear model of the looper system is obtained, of which usefulness is validated from comparison between the linear model and the nonlinear model, and design of LQI(Linear Ouadratic Integral optimal control) and ILQ (Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) looper control systems. In result, it is shown that the linear looper model by the feedback linearization well describes nonlin...

  • In this paper, a voltage equations, a thrust force equations and kinetic equation are derived from the basic structure of a 2-phase hybrid type linear stepping motor(HLSM). And a micro-stepping method in order to eliminate effectively the resonant phenomena and to increase the positional resolution of the HLSM was proposed. The proposed micro-stepping method can divide one step into the maximum 128 micro-steps under simple control system. The dynamic characteristics of proposed micro-stepping method were analyzed by the ACSL(Advanced Continuous Simulation Language) with the voltage equations, the thrust force equations and the kinetic equation, and were measured by laser experimental system. As the result, the justice of theory was confirmed, and the resonant phenomena, the positional resolution and dynamic thrust were improved by the proposed micro-stepping method.

  • This paper is concerned with the solution of ill-conditioned Systems of Linear Equations (SLE's) via the solution of equivalent SLE's which are well-conditioned. A matrix is rst constructed from that of the given ill-conditioned system. Then, an adequate right-hand side is computed to make up the instance of an equivalent system. Formulae and algorithms for computing an instance of this equivalent SLE and solving it will be given and illustrated.

  • The mathematical properties of the sequentially operated systems are often described by integral equations. Reservoir system of a product and sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) are typical examples of sequentially operated systems. When the underlying random quantities follow Erlang distribution, a systematic method was developed to solve the integral equations. We extend the method to the cases having accrual functions of more general types. The solutions of the integral equations are represented as a linear combination of distribution functions, and the coefficients of the linear combination are obtained by solving linear system derived from the continuity condition of the solutions.

  • Dynamic behaviour of point tracking system mounted on flying vehicle shaking in a random manner is investigated and the system dynamic is represented by nonlinear stochastic equations. 2-D.O.F. nonlinear stochastic equations are successfully transformed to linear stochastic equations via equivalent linearization procedure in stochastic sense. Newly developed hybrid technique is used to obtain response statistics of the system under non-white random excitation, which is proved to be remarkably accurate one by performing stochastic simulation.

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of parameter estimation, i.e., definding the internal structure of a linear distribution parameter system from its input/output data. First, a linear partial differential equation describing the system is double-integrated with respect to two variables and then transformed into an integral equation. Next the Walsh Operation Matrix for Walsh function and their integration are introduced to transform the integral equation into algebraic simultaneous equations. Finally, we develop an algorithm to estimate the parameters of the linear distributed parameter system from the simple linear algebraic simultaneous equations. It is also shown that our algorithm could be effective in real time data processing since it uses the Fast Walsh Transform.

  • A modified ABS algorithm for solving a class of singular non-linear systems, $F(x) = 0, $F\;\in \;R^n$, constructed by combining the discreted ABS algorithm and a method of Hoy and Schwetlick (1990), is presented. The second differential operation of F at a point is not required to be calculated directly in this algorithm. Q-quadratic convergence of this algorithm is given.

  • Linear algebra is not only applied comprehensively in the branches of mathematics such as algebra, analytics, and geometry but also utilized for finding solutions in various fields such as aeronautical engineering, electronics, biology, geology, mechanics and etc. Therefore, linear algebra should be easy and comfortable for not only mathematics majors but also for general students as well. However, most find it difficult to learn linear algebra. Why is it so? It is because many studying linear algebra fail to achieve a correct understanding or attain erroneous concepts through misleading knowledge they already have. Such cases cause learning disability and mistakes. This research suggests more effective method of teaching by analyzing difficulty and errors made in learning system of linear equations.

  • A method for obtaining optimal orbital maneuvers of a space vehicle has been developed by combining feedback linearization method with the elegance of the Lambert's theorem. To obtain solutions to nonlinear orbital maneuver problems. The full nonlinear equations of motion for space vehicle in polar coordinate system are transformed exactly into a controllable linear set in Brunovsky canonical form by using feedback linearization by choosing position vector as fully observable output vector. These equations are used to pose a linear optimal tracking problem with a solutions to Lambert's problem and a linear analytical solution of continuous low thrust problem as reference trajectories.
