  • Development of high technology especially in telecommunication and precise weapon systems will impact the future battle field environment. So it is not difficult to anticipate the environment of military command and control system will be changed rapidly. Considering these future battle field environment, military needs automated C4I (Command, Control, Communication, Computer and Intelligence) system, namely real time decision support system which is combined high technologies. Most of advanced countries have been studied and developed these kinds of systems and already applied these systems in real military operations. In order to take a military initiative in Korea peninsula it is essential to catch up with this trend and procure C4I system. The purpose of this research is to present the method and the direction of optimal C4I system development model. First we survey the related theory about C4I systems. Second we present the conceptual framework for C4I system concept development. Third we model the system using Timed Petri-Net and perform simulation. Finally we analyze the through-put time and suggest alternatives. If we model using the real organization structure, operational tasks and various situations then optimal C4I system would be developed.

  • This paper presents a system level architecture evaluation technique that leverages transaction level modeling but also significantly extends it to the realm of system level performance evaluation. A major issue lies with the modeling effort. To reduce the modeling effort the proposed technique develops the concept of worst case scenarios. Since the memory controller is often found to be an important component that critically affects the system performance and thus needs optimization, the paper further addresses how to evaluate and optimize the memory controllers, focusing on the test environment and the methodology. The paper also presents an industrial case study using a real state-of-the-art design. In the case study, it is reported that the proposed technique has helped successfully find the performance bottleneck and provide appropriate feedback on time.

  • The main objective of this study are to propose two methods that would be a comprehensive measure of evaluation for non-normal process capability with Beta distributions. First method is introduced using process capability index $C_{psk}$ by the Pearson system and Johnson system. The Pearson system and the Johnson System selected for process capability index calculation have a equivalent result of this study that the ranking of the seven indices in terms of sensitivity to departure of the process median from the target value from the most sensitive one up to the least sensitive are $C^{*}_{pm}$ , $C_{psk}$ , $C_{s}$ , $C_{pmk}$ , $C_{pm}$ , $C_{pk}$ , $C_{p}$ . Second method show using the percentage nonconforming by the Pearson, Johnson and Burr functions. In thus study, we find that the Pearson system and the Burr system are a reasonable method to estimate percentage nonconforming. But, the exact procedure for deriving this estimate will be based on Beta distribution. Accordingly, if a process is not normally distributed , but normal-based techniques are used serious errors can result.

  • This paper develops a methodology which can be used to quantify the combat effectiveness of the army C2A system by modifying C2 theory and using Air Defense Engagement Simulation. In this paper, by using Schutzer's C2 theory and Measures of Effectiveness, we modified the MOE formula he designed. Because the combat effectiveness by enhancement of C2(Command and Control) system will increase combat power of individual asset independently. In addition, we developed simulation analysis of air defense scenario by using Air Defense Engagement Simulation. The results show that modified the MOE formula is proper as compared with Air Defense Engagement Simulation method. The combat effectiveness can be obtained as a result of improved probability of detection and information accuracy through real-time information sharing and coordination by C2A system.

  • Ethanolamine (ETA) is mainly used to prevent corrosion of pipe in secondary cooling system of nuclear power plant. Condensed ETA in wastewater could increase COD and T-N when it was emitted to natural water system. Compared to conventional treatments, electrochemical oxidation process using packed bed bipolar electrodes was adopted to treat COD and T-N. According to arrangement of feeder electrode, single packed bed bipolar electrode reactor and multi-paired packed bed bipolar reactor were developed and conventional zero-valent iron (ZVI) was selected as conducting bipolar electrode. Bipolar electrodes were coordinated three-dimensionally in the reactor. The experimental results showed that COD and T-N was little removed in unit system at different pH condition (pH 8 and 11) on 100V. However, in multi-paired system that applied 600V, COD was eliminated 80.85% (anode-cathode-anode, A-C-A) and 85.11% (cathode-anode-cathode, C-A-C), respectively. T-N was also removed 96.88% (A-C-A) and 90.63% (C-A-C), simultaneously. Current efficiency was estimated both single and multi-paired system. At unit bipolar packed bed reactor, current efficiency was almost zero, however in multi-paired system, current efficiency was 300~500% at A-C-A and 250~350% at C-A-C. Current efficiency was over 100% hence it was confirmed that this system is more effective than conventional electrochemical oxidation system.

  • This study examined the economics of a solar water heating system for an office building using life cycle cost (LCC) optimization simulations. The numerical simulations were conducted with TRNSYS and GenOpt employing the Hooke-Jeeves algorithm. The solar collector area, slope, mass flow rate per collector area and storage tank volume were selected as the main design parameters of the solar water heating system. The LCC optimization simulations of the system were carried out for cases where water temperature was $60^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$. The results showed that for water temperature at $60^{\circ}C$ and $50^{\circ}C$ the collector area could be decreased by 17% and 28%, storage tank volume could be decreased by 49% and 54%, and mass flow rate per collector area increased by 5% and 9% respectively compared to a non-optimized system. The LCC of the system was reduced by 4% for $60^{\circ}C$ and 7% for $50^{\circ}C$. The initial installation cost of the system was reduced by 24% for $60^{\circ}C$ and 34% for $50^{\circ}C$. However, the operating cost of the system increased by 16% for $60^{\circ}C$ and 36% for $50^{\circ}C$ compared to a traditional solar water heating system.

Among 8 categories consisted of infra-system in CFMC, 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' was the most important category in the headquarter's viewpoint, while 'C3. Sanitation management system' was the most important category in branch office's viewpoint. In support and application, 'C3. Sanitation management system' was the highest category in both headquarters and branch offices including school, hospital and B&I. As a result of analysis on gap between main and branch office in importance, support and application in 8 categories, the efforts of communication and community of perception for infrastructure were needed, because 'C4. Education & training for human resource management (HRM) system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' in importance, 'C2. Menu management system', 'C4. Education & training for HRM system', 'C6. Facility & utility support system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' in support had a gap. Correlation analysis to grasp the relation between importance of infra-system and headquarters' support or branch office's application showed that headquarters's importance and support were correlated positively in 'C3. Sanitation management system', 'C6. Facility & utility support system', 'C7. Customer satisfaction management system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation' and branch office's importance and application were correlated positively in 'C1. Procurement & food processing system', 'C5. Management Information system', 'C7. Customer satisfaction management system' and 'C8. Evaluation & analysis for branch office's operation'. Lastly, 'C6. Facility & utility support system' in the branch office of school and hospital and 'C2. Menu management system' in the branch office of B&I were high in importance, low in support and application, therefore Intensive support for these categories was needed. In conclusion, continuous check and improvement for categories, which were identified as an urgent problems to be solved in this study, among infra-structure qualifying for CFMC, would enable contract foodservice industry that has grown quantitatively till now to grow qualitatively.
