  • In this paper, we consider the problem of a stochastic optimal switching control, which can be applied to the control of a system with uncertain demand such as a control problem of a power plant. The dynamic programming method is applied for the formulation of the optimal control problem. We solve the system of Quasi-Variational Inequalities(QVI) using an algoritlim which involves the finite difference approximation and contraction mapping method. A mathematical example of the optimal switching control is constructed. The actual performance of the algorithm is also tested through the solution of the constructed example.

  • Recently, it is increased to adopt inverter system to household electrical appliances, especially in ai conditioner and refrigerator. Inverter system is adopted for improving the efficiency. But Inverter system makes acoustic noise caused by switching frequency. In household electrical appliace, it is important to reduce acoustic noise. And in some cases it is possible to magnify the acoustic noise caused by switching, by system which may have different transfer characteristic. In this paper, random PWM method was adopted in inverter refrigerator using 8 bit microprocesso. We found useful PWM frequency and adoptation method.

  • In this paper, we proposed a simultaneous switching noise(SSN) reduction technique in muti-layer beards(MLB) for high-speed digital applications and analyzed them using the Finite Difference Time Domain(FDTD) method. The new method by conductive dielectric substrates reduces SSN couplings and resonances, significantly, which cause series malfunctions in the modem high-speed digital applications.

  • This paper presents a novel, single stage, isolated, three-phase switching rectifier capable of switching at high frequency. The circuit topology Provides zero-voltage switching for all switches, output voltage regulation, unity input power factor, all in a single power conversion stage. Operating principle and experimental results in the 48V/100A DC power supply of three-phase single stage method are presented.

  • A PWM switching control strategy based on instantaneous integration concept for reducing hamonic components of inverter system with fluctuating input voltage is presented. Applying this strategy to single phase full bridge PWM inverter through bipolor switching method and unipolor switching method, reduction of hamonic components of output voltage and current is demonstrated through simulation. The system operation is examined and confirmed by experiments.

  • In this paper, the RCF(Resistive Companion Form) analysis method is applied to analyze small signal stability of power systems including thyristor controlled FACTS(Flexible AC Transmission System) equipments such as TCSC(Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor). The eigenvalue sensitivity analysis algorithm in discrete systems based on the RCF analysis method is presented and applied to the power system including TCSC. As a result of simulation, the RCF analysis method is very useful to precisely calculate the variations of eigenvalues or newly generated unstable oscillation modes after periodic switching operations of TCSC. Also the eigenvalue sensitivity analysis method based on the RCF analysis method enabled to precisely calculate eigenvalue sensitivity coefficients of controller parameters about the dominant oscillation mode after periodic switching operations in discrete systems. These simulation results are different from those of the conventional continuous system analysis method such as the state space equation and showed that the RCF analysis method is very useful to analyze the discrete power systems including periodically operated switching equipments such as TCSC.

  • The TDCSA(Time Delay Control with Switching Action) method, which consists of Time Delay Control(TDC) and a switching action of sliding mode control(SMC), has been proposed as a promising technique in the robust control area, where the plant has unknown dynamics with parameter variations and substantial disturbances are preset. When TDCSA is applied to the plant with saturation nonlinearity, however, the so-called windup phenomena are observed to arise, causing excessive overshoot and instability. The integral element of TDCSA and the saturation element of a plant cause the windup phenomena. There are two integral effects in TDCSA. One is the integral effect occurred by time delay estimation of TDC. Other is the integral term of an integral sliding surface. In order to solve this problem, we have proposed an anti-windup scheme method for TDCSA. The stability of the overall system has been proved for a class of nonlinear system. Experiment results show that the proposed method overcomes the windup problem of the TDCSA.

  • With a collimated $CO_2$ laser beam, the bidirectional current switching was realized in a two-terminal electronic device based on a highly resistive vanadium dioxide($VO_2$) thin film. A $VO_2$ thin film was grown on a $Al_2O_3$ substrate by a pulsed laser deposition method. For the fabrication of a two-terminal electronic device, the $VO_2$ thin film was etched by an ion beam-assisted milling method, and the $VO_2$ device, of which $VO_2$ patch width and electrode separation were 50 and $100{\mu}m$, respectively, was fabricated through a photolithographic method. A bias voltage range for stable bidirectional current switching was found by using the current-voltage property of the device measured in a current-controlled mode. The transient responses of bidirectionally switched currents were analyzed when the laser was modulated at a variety of pulse widths and repetition rates. A switching contrast was measured as ~3333, and rising and falling times were measured as ~39 and ~21ms, respectively.
