  • In this paper, we investigate the surfaces of revolution with light-like axis satisfying some equation in terms of a position vector field and the Laplacian with respect to the non-degenerate third fundamental form in Minkowski 3-space. As a result, we give some special example of the surfaces of revolution with light-like axis.

  • Chen and Piccinni [7] have classified all compact surfaces in a Euclidean space $R^{2+p}$ with 1-type generalized Gauss map. Being motivated by this result, the purpose of this paper is to consider the Lorentz version of the classification theorem and to obtain a complete classification of space-like surfaces in indefinite Euclidean space $R_{p}$ $^{2+p}$ with 1-type generalized Gauss map.p.

  • During process design or process optimization, it is quite common for experimenters to find optimum operating conditions for several responses simultaneously. The traditional multiresponse surfaces optimization methods do not consider the uncertain relationship among these responses sufficiently. For this reason, the authors propose an optimization method based on evidential reasoning theory by Dempster and Shafer. By maximizing the basic probability assignment function, which indicates the degree of belief that certain operating condition is the solution of this multiresponse surfaces optimization problem, the desirable operating condition can be found.

  • In this paper, we study a class of spacelike rotational surfaces in the Minkowski 4-space $\mathbb{E}^4_1$ with meridian curves lying in 2-dimensional spacelike planes and having pointwise 1-type Gauss map. We obtain all such surfaces with pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the first kind. Then we prove that the spacelike rotational surface with flat normal bundle and pointwise 1-type Gauss map of the second kind is an open part of a spacelike 2-plane in $\mathbb{E}^4_1$.

  • In this paper we generalize 3-dimensional Bour's Theorem to the case of 4-dimension. We proved that a helicoidal surface in $\mathbb{R}^4$ is isometric to a family of surfaces of revolution in $\mathbb{R}^4$ in such a way that helices on the helicoidal surface correspond to parallel circles on the surfaces of revolution. Moreover, if the surfaces are required further to have the same Gauss map, then they are hyperplanar and minimal. Parametrizations for such minimal surfaces are given explicitly.

  • The purpose of our research is to understand geometric and topological aspects of real projective structures on surfaces. A real projective surface is a differentiable surface with an atlas of charts to $RP^2$ such that transition functions are restrictions of projective automorphisms of $RP^2$. Since such an atlas lifts projective geometry on $RP^2$ to the surface locally and consistently, one can study the global projective geometry of surfaces.

  • The helicoidal surface is a generalization of rotation surface in a Minkowski space. We study helicoidal surfaces in a Minkowski 3-space in terms of their Gauss map and provide some examples of new classes of helicoidal surfaces with constant mean curvature in a Minkowski 3-space.

  • In this paper, we consider surfaces in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{E}^3$ which are of finite III-type, that is, they are of finite type, in the sense of B.-Y. Chen, corresponding to the third fundamental form. We present an important family of surfaces, namely, tubes in $\mathbb{E}^3$. We show that tubes are of infinite III-type.

  • Frictional behavior of wire electric discharge machined surfaces of spheroidized annealed STDll steel was investigated. The surfaces were produced with a various series of finish cuts where pulse energy was reduced with increase in the number of finish cuts. Roughness and micro-hardness of the surfaces were also measured. It is observed that the increase in the number of finish cuts produces the surface exhibiting lower frictional resistance followed by higher resistance after considerable wear. Effects of finish cuts on the friction characteristics are discussed with the aid of roughness and micro-hardness of the surfaces.
