Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop and test a structural model on work-related musculoskeletal disorders of women workers. Method: Data were collected from 237 women workers from industries such as electronics, food production and garment production, and analyzed by LISREL 8.54. Result: The fitness indices of the model are GFI=.87, NNFI=.91, PNFI= .74. Eight out of the ten paths were proved to be statistically significant: work environment$\rightarrow$social support, work environment$\rightarrow$health behavior, work environment$\rightarrow$-WMSDs, domestic work$\rightarrow$health behavior, social support$\rightarrow$health behavior, social support$\rightarrow$job satisfaction, health behavior$\rightarrow$job satisfaction, and job satisfaction$\rightarrow$WMSDs. Work environment. social support, health behavior and job satisfaction significantly influenced WRMDs. WRMDs were accounted for 35% by the predictor variables. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study identifies that work environment, social support, health behavior and job satisfaction are important factors affecting WMSDs. Therefore, in order to prevent WRMDs, it is most important to improve both physical work environment for female workers such as appropriate work station and tools fit for them and psychological environment such as less job demand and more decision latitude(worker control).
Objectives: This study aims to understand the mediating effects of self-efficacy on the effects of social support on mental health and career preparation behavior of academic high school students. Methods: A survey was conducted targeting total 297 respondents from May 27 to May 30th 2019. The collected data was analyzed by using the PASW Statistics Ver. 18.0. Results: When the school life satisfaction was lower, and when the personality was more introverted, the students with lower school grade showed significantly low scores of mental health and career preparation behavior. In the effects of social support on mental health, the self-efficacy showed mediating roles. In the effects of social support on career preparation behavior, the self-efficacy showed mediating roles. Conclusion: If the education for strengthening social support is preferentially performed, the self-efficacy could be increased, which would have more positive effects on mental health and career preparation behavior. Regarding the subjects of education, t would be more effective to provide selective and concentrative education to the group with significantly low scores of mental health and career preparation behavior.
Purpose: This study was conducted to find out interrelation of health behavior and related variables to provide basic data for an effective health promotion for the taxi-divers. Methods: 293 male taxi-drivers from 2 cities in Korea participated in this study. The data were collected using questionnaires from April 17th to Jun 3rd, 2006, and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. Results: There were statistically significant differences according to monthly income, past illness or surgery, current disease or medication, frequency of fright on daily driving (FFDD), driving fatigue, working style, social support in health status; current disease or medication, FFDD, driving fatigue, duty shift, social support in health perception; body mass index (BMI), FFDD, driving fatigue, intention of changing job, social support in health behavior. Social support, health status, health perception, and health behavior were significantly correlated with one another. The multiple regression analysis showed that health perception (17.8%), BMI (6.8%), intention of changing job (5.7%), and driving fatigue (4.2%) explained the 34.5% variance of health behavior. And the 22.6% of variance of health perception was explained by social support (12.2%), health status (6.9%), and duty shift (3.2%). Conclusions: To promote the taxi-drivers' health, nursing intervention strategies unique for them should consider health behavior and affecting factors.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the predictors of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) among hospital nurses. Methods: Participants in this study were 231 nurses from two hospitals. The self-reported questionnaire was used to assess the level of self-efficacy, social support and OCB. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression. Results: The mean score of OCB was 4.82, self-efficacy was 4.65, and social support was 4.56. The OCB was statistically significant according to position (t=-1.97, p=.049). The OCB was positively correlated with self-efficacy (r=.558, p<.001) and social support (r=.245, p<.001). The self-efficacy and social support explained 33.0% of the variance for OCB. Conclusion: The findings suggest that developing programs to improve self-efficacy and social support might be useful. Furthermore, more studies are needed to explore variables that influence nurses' Organizational Citizenship Behavior.
Instruments used in this study of social support effects on the behavioral problems of children raised by their grandparents compared with children raised by their parents were the revised Social Support Appraisal (Dubow & Ulman 1989) and the revised Children Behavior Criteria (Achenbach, 1991). Results showed that, compared with children raised by their parents, children raised by their grandparents engaged in (1) more excessive, nervous and immature behavior; (2) were aware of less support of friends and family (3) When given a higher degree of support from friends they engaged more excessive and aggressive behavior and (4) They displayed counter-buffering effects, namely immature behavior when given higher family support.

Researchers generally argue that sexual harassment influence poor female employee organizational attitudes. However, these relationships have been not always observed. Depending on the organizational support theory, this study extended the content domain of sexual harassment research by examining the role of perceived organizational support, on these relationships. For this, this study used a survey method and multiple regression analyses with Korean 285 female employees. As results, first, the more unwanted sexual attention employees perceived, they were less likely to show their organizational citizenship behavior. Second, the more sexual coercion employees perceived, they were more likely to have their work-family conflict. Third, the negative relationship between unwanted sexual attention and their organizational citizenship behavior are stronger for employees low rather than high in perceived organizational support. Finally, the positive relationship between sexual coercion and work-family conflict are stronger for employees low rather than high in perceived organizational support. The findings suggest the adaptive function of perceived organizational support employees hold in organizational behavior. This is the first study to examine the interaction between perceived organizational support and sexual harassment of female workers with organizational citizenship behavior and work-family conflict. This study also provides guidance for administrative managerial practices.
The purposed of this study was to identify compliance with sick role behavoir and support by families of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and to identify factors affecting these variables md factors that increase compiance with sick role behavoior This study was a survey design done in K. general hospital from 1992. 7 1 to 1992. 7. 20. The data were collected through personal interviews with 70 subjects who had pulmonary tuberculosis. A questionnaire was used to collect the data. 1. Demographic characteristics of the subjects The factor causing the tuberculosis for 28.6% of the subjects was that they lived with another family member who had pulmonary tuberculosis, 11.4% of the subjects had a family member who died of tuberculosis, 24.3% of the subjects had experienced an adverse reaction to medication. Gastroenteric disorders(28.6%) had the highest rate for this kind of adverse reaction to medication. 2. Support by families for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis The items which showed high support for compliance were taking medicine regularly(80.0% ) eat-ing a balanced diet(80.0%), loving them(84.3%), taking care of them(82.8%), getting the support from people for being sick(81.1%) The items which showed low support for compliance were meeting relatives or clergymen(20%), talking with the people suffering from pulmenary tuberculosis to relieve frustrated because they were not recovering. 3. General characteristics and family support The degree of family support showed that 75 was highest score and 30, the lowest score with 55.5(74. 1%)the average score. The degree of family support appeared similar in cases where the person was married and where the person did not have a family member with pulmonary tuberculosis(P〈.01) 4. The degree of compliance with sick role behavior by patients with pulmonary tuberculosis The degree of compliance with sick role behavior showed that 100 was the highest scoure47, the low-est score and 76.4, the average score out of a Possible score of 100. 5. Correlation between compliance with sick role behavior and family support The compliance with sick role behavior and family support showed a positive correlation(r=.2094 p〈.5) So for patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. compliance with sick role behavior is related to the sup-port given by their families.
Purpose: This study aims to identify the mediating effect of health promoting behavior in the relationship between depression and health-related quality of life, and between social support and health-related quality of life among migrant workers. Methods: Data were collected from 152 migrant workers working at companies in K and B metropolitan cities. The study conducted a survey from August 1 to September 30, 2019, and used self-report structured questionnaires that were translated into English and Korean. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, simple and multiple regression, Baron and Kenny's method, and Sobel test. Results: Depression was significantly negatively correlated with social support (r=-.29, p<.001), health promoting behavior (r=-.30, p<.001) and health-related quality of life (r=-.44, p<.001). And social support was significantly positively correlated with health promoting behavior (r=.50, p<.001) and health-related quality of life (r=.44, p<.001). And health promoting behavior was significantly positively correlated with health-related quality of life (r=.51, p<.001). Furthermore health promoting behavior showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between depression and health-related quality of life (Z=3.26, p<.001), and showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between the social support and health-related quality of life (Z=3.98, p<.001). Conclusion: In this study, depression and social support were shown to mediate health promotion behavior to improve health-related quality of life. Therefore, in order to improve the health-related quality of life of migrant workers, it is necessary to focus on the health promotion behaviors, and effective strategies are needed to reduce depression, and support social support.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate predictors of behavior problems of military children in elementary school. Methods: Participants were 195 military children who were attending D-elementary school in C-city. Data were collected from July 8 to July 10, 2013, using self-report questionnaires which included Han's Externalized Behavior Problems Scale, Lee's Parent's Rearing Attitude Scale, and Hong's Friend/Teacher Support Appraisal Scale. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program, which included the t-test, the one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and the multiple liner regression analysis. Results: The mean score of the subjects' behavior problem was 1.47/5.0 points. The degree of the score is similar to or slightly lower than that of ordinary children. There were statistically significant differences in behavior problems according to gender, grade, birth order and economic status. Behavior problems have a negative correlation with parent's rearing attitude, parent-child relationship, teacher's support, and friend's support. Influencing factors of behavior problems were teacher's support, father-child relationship, and mother's rearing attitude, which explained 20.6% of the variance. Conclusion: The finding of this study suggests there is a need to increase teacher's support for elementary students and to educate parents to improve their parenting skills by developing proper school health programs.
This study investigated the relationships between the husband's support, depression, parenting self-efficacy, and parenting behavior of Korean American mothers and their children's self-esteem. The participants were 113 Korean American child-mother dyads (grades 3-8) from Southern California, USA. The data, including the mothers' parenting behavior as assessed by their children, were collected from self-report questionnaires. A path analysis indicated that the effects of the above mentioned variables on the children's self-esteem depended on the subscale model of the parenting behavior. In every subscale model of parenting behavior, the husband's support was positively related to the parenting self-efficacy and the mother's depression was negatively related to the parenting self-efficacy. Further, in the warmth-acceptance model, the husband's support was positively related to the parenting behavior, the mother's depression was negatively related to the parenting behavior, parenting self-efficacy was positively related to both the parenting behavior and the children's self-esteem, and the parenting behavior was positively related to the children's self-esteem. In the rejection-restriction model, the husband's support was negatively related to the parenting behavior, the mother's depression was positively related to the parenting behavior, the parenting self-efficacy was negatively related to the parenting behavior and was positively related to the children's self-esteem, and the parenting behavior was negatively related to the children's self-esteem. In the permissiveness-nonintervention model, the parenting behavior was negatively related to the children's self-esteem. These results, particularly the dependence on the subscale model of parenting behavior, will be helpful in understanding the effects of parenting on Korean American children's self-esteem.
