A Study on the Development of a MOOC Design Model

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a MOOC design model that would improve the current practice of MOOC development in Korea by specifying easy-to-use course development procedures and guiding strategies. Following Richey and Klein (2007)'s conceptual model development procedure, the first step was to perform critical review of relevant literature and observe typical MOOC development processes. As a result, the initial model was developed. The second step was to conduct the expert review with five educational technology and MOOC researchers to secure the internal validity of the model. Based on the experts' suggestions, the model was revised and once again reviewed by the same experts. This process resulted in the development of the 2nd version of model. The third step was to carry out external validation research in order to test the effectiveness, efficiency, and usability of the model. A basic model may be confirmed or corrected based on examination of its results. Consequently, the model was elaborated as the final model. In the final model, 6 procedural phases and 9 specific steps were included. The six procedural phases are: Analysis (1st Iteration), Design, Development (Course Development), Implementation, Evaluation, and Analysis (2nd Iteration), a slight variation of ADDIE model. The specific steps include: 1) Goal Setting, 2) Environment Analysis, 3) Content Design, 4) Style Design, 5) Course Development, 6) Implementation Plan, 7) Course Implementation, 8) Summative Evaluation, and 9) Need Reflection. The study concluded with suggestions for further research and application of the MOOC design model.

How to develop tiered tests: A developmental framework using statistical indexes and four tier types in secondary physics

  • In the era of the outcome-based education, multiple-choice test has been widely employed owing to its efficiency that enables educators to evaluate a quantity of students with much objectiveness. However, the prevalent test has not been reconsidered enough to overcome its apparent shortcomings: examiners' effort for developing plausible and faultless distracters defending from every falsification, and students' random guessing on key choices. For alleviating such defects, tiered test as an experimental format of multiple-choice tests has been suggested in science education. Since there has not accumulated much study on the implementation of tiered tests, our research aim is set to construct a framework suggesting statistical indexes for rationally discerning tiered units that develop an effective tiered test. Graded both by our tiered-scoring and by the conventional partial-scoring, the preliminary tiered test in secondary physics attests the improvement in its discrimination and difficulty distribution. The findings reveal that the two indexes discern effective tiered items: discrimination increase (Ct-p) and difficulty decrease (Dp-t). Based on the index information, 4 heterogeneous tier types are recommended in the content of secondary physics: directional manipulation, repeated calculation, diverse explanation, and plural variables.

Investigating the reassessment opportunity for prospective teachers within their initial required content course

  • In K-12 education, reassessment is a common practice, providing students with opportunities to enhance their understanding through low-stakes assignments. However, reassessment is underutilized in higher education, including during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our study advocates for expanding the use of reassessment in university settings to promote holistic learning and focus on what shifts of change were made by students in an initial mathematics content course as they sought to gain licensure for teaching in a birth (daycare/pre-K setting) to eighth-grade classrooms. Our study took place during COVID-19 semesters and aimed to examine how using a reassessment approach early on in a gateway course for Prospective Teachers (PTs) affected the pass rate of the course. Results showed significant differences between the PTs who engaged with the test recovery and those who did not. We propose recovery opportunities like ours provide the necessary guidance to support early degree necessary classes that are typically gatekeeping and, as another, likely cause too few students within the courses because they were able to advance into the teacher pipeline and out into the field. Future studies may consider how the reassessment could be done more before the official summative assessment of a unit or chapter to continue the shifts in teaching practices and pedagogy that are constant within the K-12 education systems at the university level.

중학교 과학과 총괄 지필평가 문항의 목표 분석 (Analysis of Summative Evaluation Objectives in Middle school Science Examination by Klopfer's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives)

  • 이 연구는 중학교 1학년 과학과 총괄 지필평가 출제경향을 조사하기 지필평가 문항의 행동영역, 내용영역, 문항유형, 난이도에 대하여 조사 분석하였다. 10개의 중학교의 1차와 2차 지필평가 문항의 총 645개를 연구대상으로 하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지필평가 문항의 행동영역은 '지식, 이해' 수준으로 편중되어 있으며, 적용, 분석, 종합, 평가 영역의 문항은 거의 출제가 되고 있지 않았다. 둘째, 내용영역은 기존의 연구의 결과에 비해 과학적 탐구과정의 출제 빈도수가 많아졌지만, 여전히 과학지식을 묻는 문항이 과학적 탐구과정의 문항과 비교하여 두 배 이상의 비율로 출제되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 문항유형은 선다형 문항 중심으로 출제 되고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 넷째, 정답률을 기준으로 문항의 난이도를 분석한 결과, 전체적인 빈도수에서 '상'에 해당하는 문항의 비율은 교사가 목표로 하는 난이도 비율보다 낮았으며, '중'의 비율은 교사가 생각하는 난이도 비율보다 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 과학학습에 대한 다양한 영역의 총체적인 평가를 위해서는 교사의 평가 및 문항 개발의 전문성 신장에 대한 노력이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

사회적 배려대상 예술영재 판별모형 개발 (The SMC Model: Identification of Artistically Gifted Students from Low Income Families)

  • 본 연구는 가정의 소득 수준과 다문화 가정환경을 고려하여 선발된 사회적 배려대상 초등학생들 중 음악, 시각예술, 발레 영역에서 예술적 잠재성을 보이는 예술영재를 판별하는 모형 개발에 관한 것이다. 연구에서 개발한 SMC모형은 예술적 기술, 동기, 창의성을 주요 판별 요소로 포함하며 문서 리뷰 및 교사 추천, 예술 영재성 평가, 종합 평가의 세 단계를 통해서 총체적, 영역 일반적 예술 영재성과 세부적, 영역 특수적 예술 영재성을 평가함으로써 아동의 예술적 잠재성을 조기에 인식하고 판별하는 것을 주된 목적으로 하고 있다. 사회적 배려대상 예술영재의 효과적인 판별은 숨어있는 다수의 잠재적 예술영재들의 발견을 통해서 예술영재교육의 대상과 범위를 확대시키고 이들의 영재성 계발을 가능하게 하는 후속 프로그램 개발에 유용한 정보를 제공해 줄 것이다.

시선추적 실험에 따른 가로공간요소의 관심영역 분석 (An Analysis of AOI(Area of Interest) based on the Eye-Tracking Experiment according to Streetscape Elements)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze characteristics of street elements when pedestrians have a view in the street. The research was utilized eye-tracking experiment and two times survey before and after experiment. The experiment is composed as follows. The data collection was conducted two days period from March 30 to 31, 2017. There were 43 participants who were all male and undergraduate students. In the data recording, the stimulus image was presented 65 seconds on a 23-inch monitor. Prior to analyzing data, the images were represented into five elements of AOI(area of interest). The fixation rate was divided by a period such as 'fixation time' and 'fixation count' parameters. The results were additionally obtained by linking analysis with the area ratio of AOI, time series analysis, and questionnaire. First of all, both building signs and advertisement standing boards draws attentions in participants. From a comparison between fixation rate and survey, the data have negative perspective view. Second, the advertisement standing boards are more eye-catching than other elements regardless of AOI size. It shows the priority of elements what should be developed in the environment. Third, the pavement is rarely seen in the fixation rate. Fourth, the trees are not a long frequency but viewed as a positive element. People want to keep the natural site in the street. In summative research, this method of extracting eye movement data would be provided a foundation data for developing streetscape plan based on scientific factors.

건강도시지표 비교를 통한 건강도시 수준의 평가 -한국, 일본 및 영국의 일부 도시를 중심으로- (An assessment of healthy city level by comparing health city index - Comparisons among the selected cities of Korea, Japan and England -)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess healthy city level of the selected cities of Korea, Japan, and England using healthy city index. Based on WHO health city profile, this study proposed 5 index domains comprised with human biology, life style, shelthe & socioeconomic data, environmental & infrastructural data, and public health policy and services. We identified 6 cities (Changwon, Wonju, Seoul, Ichikawa, Fukuroi and Brighton). The human biology level of Korean cities was better than that of Ichikawa, Fukuroi, and Brighton city except Wonju. But the shelter & socioeconomic index level of the foreign cities was better than that of Korean cities. In the environmental & infrastructural idex, even though Changwon city showed the highest level among healthy cities in this study, other Korean cities had lower level compared to the foreign cities. In the public health policy and services index level, except Wonju, Korean cities had lower level than that of all foreign cities. In comparing a summative evaluation index of all proposed index, Ichikawa and Fukuroi had the highest level of city health but Seoul city had the lowest healthy level. Changwon and Wonju had higher level of city health compare to that of Brighton and Seoul. To promote the level of city health, those findings could contribute to healthy city planning process in terms of identifying any weakness and strength of the cities selected in this study.

초등학교 안전교육 내용 체계 개발 연구 (A Study on Development of the Contents System for Safety Education in Elementary School)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop the system for safety education needed to develop the textbooks and teachers' teaching-manual for the safety education in elementary schools. Methods: For this study, literature study and survey for the method were combined. the data were analyzed the basic theory on safety and its related contents, utilized the current elementary textbooks for the analysis of safety education and again analyzed the laws and regulations associated with school safety. Furthermore, through the survey, the status of safety education at elementary schools and the requirements for safety education were examined. Results: On the basis of the reality and theory analyzed for safety education, The authors have set up a goal of safety education. The goal is composed of a summative goal and subordinate goals, and the authors categorized safety education areas into 6. Also It is organized the safety education contents based on 17 hours per year by grade into 25 content-goals and 76 activity-factors. The authors, systematizing those activity factors of safety education, suggested a formation by grade. Conclusion: The result of the study is that it is necessary to carry out the safety education at schools on the ground of the contents system related to the safety education. It is expected that this systematic operation of safety education will be a measure which is more efficient and more effective than the current ones and there will be a positive change in the knowledge of, attitude to and behavior for the safety in elementary schools.

성희롱/성폭력 예방교육 프로그램 및 CD-ROM개발 - 유아(3~6세)용 - (The Development of a CD-ROM and an Educational Program for the Prevention Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence in Preschool Children)

  • This study was to developed to create a CD-ROM and an educational program for the prevention of sexual harassment and violence and to contribute to the perception and add to the coping of the victims of sexual harassment and violence as well as the child, parents, and teachers. Method: The study's methods were literature reviews, surveys, and assessments of the negotiation process for educational needs of sexual harassed and abused children. Result: The sexual harassment and violence prevention program will contain four subjects : 1) sexual development of a preschool child, 2) characteristics of sexual harassment and violence of a preschool child, 3) safe sex, early detection of sexual violence syndrome, and coping strategies. The CD-RON was composed from three sites. The first was a child site, the second was a parent/teacher site, and the third was a game site for evaluations. The child site consisted of 10 possible scenarios of sexual harassment and violence that a child could experience. The parent/teacher site consisted of knowledge and information for prevention and coping strategies for sexual harassment and violence. At the end of each situation question and answer sections that were used for formative evaluation. Also, the game site could be a summative evaluation. Conclusion: The effects of this program and the CD-ROM were based of the promotion of reverence for humanity and gender equality for preschool childen. Eventually, children, parents, and teachers will have prevention and coping ability that will reduce the occurrence of sexual harassment and violence in Korea

임베디드 기반의 IMS 코아 SIP 게이트웨이 구현 (Implementation of IMS Core SIP Gateway based on Embedded)

  • 지능형 모바일 단말기의 급증과 IPTV등 다양한 멀티미디어 부가 서비스의 증가로 IMS(IP Multi-Media Subsystem)가 유/무선 통합 제어 망으로 각광을 받고 있다. IMS의 구조는 인터넷 프로토콜(IP) 기반의 통신망에서 기존 음성 서비스는 물론 SIP를 이용한 다양한 멀티미디어 부가 서비스를 제공하기 위해 세션의 설정 변경 및 해제를 수행하도록 NGN에서 세션 제어계층으로 정의 되었다. 현재는 IPTV 유선전화서비스 사업자 등에서도 폭넓게 채택되어 기존 소프트스위치 기반의 인터넷전화 서비스 플랫폼을 대체하고 있고 특히, 최근에는 이동통신서비스인 4G LTE의 확산에 따라 관련 시장이 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 1,000 회선급 가입자 회선을 수용 할 수 있는 고속의 메인 Processor와 기존 표준 SIP 프로토콜을 사용하는 SIP 단말과 IMS Core와 연동 할 수 있고 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 SIP 게이트웨이를 설계하고 구현하였다.
