The study was conducted in five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation using the ADDIE model. In the analysis phase, the study set learning objectives after analyzing how community housing is dealt with in the 2015 revised home economics curriculum and 12 current technology and home economics textbooks. In the design and development stage, in order to evaluate the validity of the experts and to improve the empathy ability, the study goal design, the composition of the learning elements, the development of the learning materials, and the pre and post-questionnaire for the students were developed. In the implementation stage, the empathic ability evaluation was carried out before and after the beginning of the first class by applying the teaching-learning process plan of the 8th class. In the evaluation stage, we examined whether the teaching-learning process developed in this study has a significant effect on empathy ability by evaluating the pre-post difference of empathy ability. As a result of examining the results of the pre - and post - evaluation of empathy ability for the results of this study, both cognitive and communicative factors were improved, and the apartment house class had a significant effect on the improvement of empathy ability.

  • The aims of this study are to present the basic data of a school facilities complex and to analyze the necessity of a school facilities complex, school facilities characteristics and program characteristics. In the study, there can be found an analysis of the present conditions of the school facilities complex by literature research and the analysis of school facilities characteristics and program characteristics by case study. The results of this study are as follows: First, the elementary school facilities are mixed with the gym, swimming pool, culture center and convenient facility(parking lot). Second, the school facilities complex is not connected with the number of elementary school students. As the number of elementary school students decrease, it is possible to apply the generated surplus space of the school facilities to the community facility. Third, the school facilities complex is not connected to the reliance ratio of local finance. It is necessary for the central government to provide active financial and to build a financial support model. Fourth, most of the time, the entrance of the facility complex is divided from the entrance of the school facility. Fifth, the programs of many school facility complexes are composed of swimming and physical fitness programs.

  • Recently the crime against elementary school students has been rapidly increasing. Under these circumstances, this study is to analyze the basic principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) for the elementary school in urban residential area, and suggest some planning and design guidelines. Among 59 elementary schools in Pyongchon, Bundang, and Pangyo new towns, 11 distinctive schools were selected for analysis study. School cases were investigated comparatively from the viewpoints of visibility, securing of observers, activity support and reinforced territoriality on the basis of theoretical crime prevention concepts. The analysis adopts various methods including theoretical research, field study, observation, and examination of plan. Some of findings of this analysis are as follows. Most of schools rely on the mechanical and physical devices such as CCTV, gate control, or walls, which are considered to be quite passive measures and ineffective for the crime prevention. Other effective methods such as offering school facilities to the public or public space sharing with surrounding residents, for the protection of crimevulnerable students by public eyes. Therefore, in order to prevent crimes effectively, it is urgently required to analyze the environments around and in the school, and to improve physical conditions on the basis of CPTED principles.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a process-based evaluation program with the theme of school space design in the housing area of the middle school home economics. In order to achieve For thispurpose, a process-based evaluation program based on the theme of school space design was developed following the ADDIE instructional design model, and the program was executed to a total of 93 students. A questionnaire survey and in-depth interview were conducted for the evaluation of the program. The results of this study are as follows. First, based on the results of a 2015-Revised Curriculum analysis, a school space design program evaluation plan was established, and two evaluation tasks were developed. Accordingly, scoring criteria were prepared and 8 evaluation materials for students and 2 evaluation materials for teachers were developed. A total of 9 sessions were developed for teaching and learning activities and evaluation-linked operation procedures to perform evaluation tasks. As a result of an expert validity test for the program, all items were verified to be appropriate in content validity and content composition with an average of 3.6 to 4 points (4 points). Second, after conducting the school space design program, a survey on students were conducted, and as a result, all three areas of school space design class, process-based evaluation, interest scored high in average scores of 4.12 to 4.27 out of 5. According to the survey and interview results, the program provided new learning opportunities for school space design, the students were able to reach the suggested achievement goals, and the self-assessment, peer evaluation and teacher feedback positively affected the students during the learning process so that they could reflect on their learning and actively participate in the subsequent learning activity. This study has a limitation in generalizability in that the program was conducted on a limited number of students, and future studies are expected to expand the scope in terms of research participants, evaluation criteria, and school space design classes. This study laid the foundation for theory and practice by developing and implementing a process-based evaluation program for home economics education, and it has contribution in that it suggested the possibility that teachers and students can take the initiatives in school space design, focusing on the housing content elements of home economics.
