Development of Durability Design System for Concrete Structures (콘크리트 구조물의 내구성 설계시스템 개발)

  • The concrete structures designed and constructed by conventional design concept based on structural performance consideration show sometimes serious durability problem when the structures are exposed to aggressive environment. Because present design system focuses on the structure safety and considers durability indirectly by the concrete mix design and cover depth, the durability of concrete structure cannot be ensured. As the first step to develope the durability design for concrete structure, durability index which represents internal concrete resistance and environment index which represents external environmental exposure are derived quantitatively. In the next step, the durability design system is developed by checking durability limit state with computed two indexes under service life condition by considering of the reliability of structure. Finally, the proposed system is verified with a model problem.

A New Robust Integral Variable Structure Controller for Uncertain More Affine Nonlinear Systems with Mismatched Uncertainties (부정합조건 불확실성을 갖는 비선형 시스템을 위한 새로운 강인한 적분 가변 구조 제어기)

  • In this note, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear integral variable structure controller based on state dependent nonlinear form is presented for the control of uncertain more affine nonlinear systems with mismatched uncertainties and matched disturbance. After an affine uncertain nonlinear system is represented in the form of state dependent nonlinear system, a systematic design of a new robust nonlinear integral variable structure controller is presented. To be linear in the closed loop resultant dynamics and remove the reaching phase problems, the linear integral sliding surface is suggested. A corresponding control input is proposed to satisfy the closed loop exponential stability and the existence condition of the sliding mode on the linear integral sliding surface, which will be investigated in Theorem 1. Through a design example and simulation studies, the usefulness of the proposed controller is verified.

  • A control structure is introduced for the purpose of rejecting periodic (or repetitive) disturbances on a tracking system. The objective of the proposed structure is to drive the output of the system to the reference input that will result in perfect following without any changing the inner configuration of the system. The structure includes an adaptation block which learns the dynamics of the periodic disturbance and forces the interferences, caused by disturbances, on the output of the system to be reduced. Since the control structure acquires the dynamics of the disturbance by on-line adaptation, it is possible to generate control signals that reject any slowly varying time-periodic disturbance provided that its amplitude is bounded. The artificial neural network is adopted as the adaptation block. The adaptation is done at an on-line process. For this , the real-time recurrent learning (RTRL) algoritnm is applied to the training of the artificial neural network.

Efficient 3D Analysis of Building Structures with A Rigid Floor System (주상복합구조물의 효율적인 3차원 해석)

  • Very stiff floor system in a residential-commercial building causes some problems in the numerical analysis procedure due to significant difference in stiffness with adjacent structural elements. Static analysis of structure with a stiff transfer-floor can be peformed approximately in two steps for upper and lower pons for the structure. However, it is impossible to perform dynamic analysis in two steps with separate models. An efficient method for dynamic analysis of a structure with a rigid floor system is proposed in this study. The matrix condensation technique is employed to reduce the degree of freedom for upper and lower parts of the structure and a beam elements with rigid bodies of both ends are introduce to model the rigid floor system. Efficiency end accuracy of the proposed method ore verified through analysis of several example structures.

  • The appropriate ventilation system in vehicular tunnel should be the most economical solution with regard to both construction and maintenance. The damages on tunnel lining was affected by formula of ventilation system in long vehicular tunnel. In this study, carbonation, one of main experimental items in precision safety diagnosis, was analyzed by contouring damage area with ventilation system. Considerations of carbonation were also given to the design and maintenance which manage the long-term safety in tunnel.

Robust Vibration Control for a Building with Parameter Uncertainty (파라미터 불확실성을 고려한 건물의 견실 진동 제어)

  • In this paper, we design a vibration control system that includes a 3-D.O.F. mass-spring-damper structure for the analytical model of a building that is excited at the base of this structure by an external dynamic force, and one Active Mass Damper(AMD) on the top of this structure to generate control forces fro attenuation of the structural response. Two robust controllers based on $\mu$-synthesis and H$\infty$ optimal control are designed for the structural system to show that the performance of a control system can be degraded by some parameter uncertainties such as mass, stiffness coefficients, and/or damping coefficients. The performance of the two controllers are compared in terms of nominal performance, robust stability and robust performance by simulations.

  • The effective stiffness-based optimal technique to control quantitatively lateral drift for shear wall-Frame structure system using composit member subject to lateral loads is presented. Also, displacement sensitivity depending on behavior characteristics of structure system is established and approximation concept that preserves the generality of the mathematical programming is introduced. Finally, the resizing technique of shear wall, frame and composite member is developed and the example of 20 story framework is presented to illustrate the features of the quantitative lateral drift control technique.

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration control of multi-layer structure for ultra-tall buildings and main tower of large bridge etc. We have modeled the multi-layer structure with the distributed mass system as the lumped mass system of two-degree-of-freedom structure and made experimental equipment. The H$_{\infty}$ control theory is applied to the design of the control system. The designed control system is simulated by computer. As a result, the designed H$_{\infty}$ controller showed good vibration control performance to impact excitation and the good frequency response.e.

  • This paper describes formulation for algorithm of time historical response analysis of vibration for straight-line structure. This method is derived from a combination of the transfer stiffness coefficient method and the Newmark method. And this present method improves the computational accuracy of the transient vibration response analysis remarkably owing to several advantages of the transfer stiffness coefficient method. We regarded the structure as a lumped mass system here. The analysis algorithm for the time historical response was formulated for the straight-line structure containing crooked, tree type system. The validity of the present method compared with the transfer matrix method and the Finite Element Method for transient vibration analysis is demonstrated through the numerical computations.
