Equivalent thermal conductivities and elasticity properties of woven fabric composites are computed using homogenization technique. The computational results show that the strength and thermal conductivity linearly increase with fiber volume fraction and that the variations of undulation of fibers has little effect on equivalent material properties. Homogenization technique is proved useful in the study of woven fabric composites and may find a lot more applications in the area.

According to foster the Pusan Public Park in site of Camp Hialeah, we recorded about building which has historical and cultural meaning. This study is to organize the resource about properties of material and structural properties of Barracks of Japanese army and Quonset hut which was constructed from 1940's to 1950's in Camp Hialeah.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the structural properties, the color characteristics and the texture of sight and touch on the tactile preferences for the black fabrics. Male and female university students were asked to evaluate the texture of sight and touch and tactile preference to the nine different black fabrics which were selected on the basis of the previous research results. Data were analyzed by using frequency analysis, mean, factor analysis, t-test, F-test, correlation and regression analysis. The texture of sight and touch for black fabrics was classified into four factors: smoothness, bulkiness, extensibility, firmness. This texture of sight and touch factors showed a significant correlative relationship to the structural properties and color characteristics of the black fabrics. There were significant differences according to black fabrics on the point of texture of sight and touch. The velvet was evaluated the most smooth fabric, while the velvet and fake leather were evaluated the most bulky fabrics. Also, the jersey and lace fabrics were evaluated the most extensible fabrics, while the melton was evaluated as the most firm fabrics. There were significant correlative relationships not only between the structural properties and the texture of sight and touch but also between the color characteristics and the texture for black fabrics. Also, among the structural properties, the color characteristics and the texture of sight and touch of black fabrics, major variable factor of influencing on the tactile preference was turned out to be the texture of sight and touch.
It is important to accurately predict structural responses to external excitations such as typhoons and earthquakes when designing structures for serviceability. One of the key procedures to predict reliable vibration responses is to evaluate accurate structural dynamic properties using finite element (FE) models, which properly represent the realistic behavior of buildings. In the case of historic masonry buildings, structural damage could also be caused by ambient vibrations or impacts. Therefore, the preservation plans of historic buildings for low-level vibrations or impacts should be provided by analyzing structural damages within serviceability levels. For this purpose, it is required to provide FE model construction and response analysis methods verified with field measurement data. In this research, long-term field measurement was performed for a cathedral and its dynamic properties were evaluated using measured data. Then, the model was calibrated based on the measured dynamic properties and an overall construction method for the masonry cathedral was proposed. Using the measured accelerations, the vibrations of the belfry were analyzed using the calibrated FE model and finally, the FE model for the cathedral was verified by comparing the measured accelerations with the modeled results.
The concept of performance based seismic design has been gradually accepted by the earthquake engineering profession recently, in which the cost-effectiveness criterion is one of the most important principles and more attention is paid to the structural performance at the inelastic stage. Since there are many uncertainties in seismic design, reliability analysis is a major task in performance based seismic design. However, structural reliability analysis may be very costly and time consuming because the limit state function is usually a highly nonlinear implicit function with respect to the basic design variables, especially for the complex large-scale structures for dynamic and nonlinear analysis. Understanding statistical properties of the structural inelastic deformation, which is the aim of the present paper, is helpful to develop an efficient approximate approach of reliability analysis. The present paper studies the statistical properties of the maximum elastoplastic story drift of steel frames subjected to earthquake load. The randomness of earthquake load, dead load, live load, steel elastic modulus, yield strength and structural member dimensions are considered. Possible probability distributions for the maximum story are evaluated using K-S test. The results show that the choice of the probability distribution for the maximum elastoplastic story drift of steel frames is related to the mean value of the maximum elastoplastic story drift. When the mean drift is small (less than 0.3%), an extreme value type I distribution is the best choice. However, for large drifts (more than 0.35%), an extreme value type II distribution is best.

Recently, many research groups have studied on the epoxy-based multifunctional electrolyte to develop the structural composite bearing high mechanical properties without sacrificing the ionic conductivity at the same time. The studies on the optimal content and material selection for structural electrolyte have been published, while its curing behavior has not much analyzed yet. In this study, epoxy-based structural electrolyte containing solid electrolyte was prepared by varying the curing temperature and time. In addition, the ionic conductivities and mechanical properties of specimens were measured. We also find out the optimal hardening condition where the epoxy domain enables to be hardened within the range of temperature at which the thermal decomposition of electrolyte does not occur. Finally, we propose the multifunctional structural electrolyte showing achievable electrical and mechanical properties (282 MPa and $9{\times}10^{-6}S/cm@25^{\circ}C$).

This paper presents the structural model verification process of whole wind turbine blade including blade model which proposed in Part1 paper. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) Phase VI wind turbine which the wind tunnel and structural test data has publicly available is used for the study. In the Part1 of this paper, the processes of structural model development and verification process of blade only are introduced. The whole wind turbine composed by blade, rotor, nacelle and tower. Even though NREL has reported the measured values, the material properties of blade and machinery parts are not clear but should be tested. Compared with the other parts, the tower which made by steel pipe is rather simple. Since it does not need any considerations. By the help of simple eigen-value analysis, the accuracy of structural stiffness and mass value of whole wind turbine system was verified by comparing with NREL's reported value. NREL has reported the natural frequency of blade, whole turbine, turbine without blade and tower only models. According to the comparative studies, the proposed material and mass properties are within acceptable range, but need to be discussing in future studies, because our material properties of blade does not match with NREL's measured values.
A method to estimate damage of bridge structures is developed using system identification approach. Dynamic behavior of damaged structures is represented by a non-linear hysteretic moment model. Structural properties can be evaluated through system identification. To incorporate variability of the structural properties and uncertainties of structural response, damage is represented as random quantities. Numerical example is shown for the bridge structure under different ground excitation.

The present study aims to design a multiplayer microstrip antenna with composite sandwich construction and to estimate structural behavior of this multiplayer structure for the next generation of structural surface technology. This is termed Surface-Antenna-Structure indicating that structural surface becomes antenna. Constituent materials were selected considering electrical properties as well as mechanical properties. For the antenna performance, antenna elements inserted into structural layers were designed for satellite communication at a resonant frequency of 12.5 GHz and final demonstration article was $16\times16$ array antenna. From electrical measurements it was shown that antenna performances were in good agreement with design requirements. Structural analysis showed this antenna structure was well designed for the mechanical rigidity. All constituent materials were characterized independently. The SAS concept is the first serious attempt at integration for both antenna and composite engineers and promises innovative future communication technology.

In the present study, the structural safety of the bolt portion and collet tool structure of the pipe-fitting tool is analyzed by using the finite element technique. Two forces as piston forces with the magnitude of 187.5 Tons are applied to the inner and outer portions of the collet tool, respectively. A structural load of 750 Tons is applied to the bolt portion. In the analysis results, it is found that the structure becomes safe under the current loading conditions. The reliability rating of the pipe is calculated in this study. The material properties of the actual material are evaluated by using mechanical testing. Therefore, the material properties are used to carry out static structural and optimization analysis.
