An evaluation equation of load capacities for CFT square column-to-beam connections with combined diaphragm

  • The objective of this study is to clarify the structural features of members consisting of connection, as a series of the previous study on the CFT column-to-beam tensile connection with combined cross diaphragm. This connection has the merits that the stress is distributed evenly on the beam flange and the diaphragm and the stress concentration is reduced, by improving the stress transfer route and restraining abrupt deformation of diaphragm. The finite element analysis was performed to find out the stress transfer through sleeve which is an important member of the connection with combined cross diaphragm. The length and thickness of sleeve were used as variables for the analysis. As the analysis results, the length and thickness of sleeve didn't influence on the capacity of the connection and played a role of a medium to transfer the stress from the diaphragm to the filled concrete. It is proposed that the appropriate length of sleeve be the same value as the diameter of sleeve and the appropriate ratio of sleeve diameter to sleeve thickness be 20. Two equations for evaluation of the load-carrying capacity of the connection were also proposed through the modification of the evaluation equation suggested in the previous study.

  • An experimental investigation to determine the transfer length of a seven-wire prestressing strand in different concretes is presented in this paper. A testing technique based on the analysis of bond behaviour by means of measuring the force supported by the prestressing strand on a series of specimens with different embedment lengths has been used. An analytical bond model to calculate the transfer length from an inelastic bond stress distribution along the transfer length has been obtained. A relationship between the plastic bond stress for transfer length and the concrete compressive strength at the time of prestress transfer has been found. An equation to predict the average and both the lower bound and the upper bound values of transfer length is proposed. The experimental results have not only been compared with the theoretical prediction from proposed equations in the literature, but also with experimental results obtained by several researchers.

  • The purposes of this study was to investigate how interpersonal relationship stress had the impact on job attitude and turnover intention. To perform this study, total 420 questionnaire were distributed to regular hotel employees from October 16th to November 26th in 2017. Unworkable data were excluded, and final 344 usable responses were obtained for an empirical analysis. Frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were measured by using SPSS 18.0, respectively. For the study structure, interpersonal relationship stress primarily concentrated on the boss/staff/colleague/customer stress. Job attitude was divided into organization commitment and job satisfaction. Transfer intention was a single factor. The results of this study were shown as follows: Hypothesis 1, boss/customer stress have a negative effect on organization commitment and boss/colleague/customer stress have a negative effect on job satisfaction. Hypothesis 2, boss/customer stress have a positive effect on transfer intention. Hypothesis 3, tissue commitment have a negative effect on transfer intention. This results of this study have shown that stress management of employee is a source of management result in hotel business. This study have given to the hotel's human resource management and internal marketing for the practical implication and academical use.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the structural stability of hybrid type fan heater. The evaluation of structural safety of hybrid fan heater was conducted by using Ansys Workbench and CFX-11 under the design condition. The hybrid fan heater was operated by heat transfer for heat source supplied from electric heater and combustion gas. According to result of structural analysis, the maximum equivalent stress of hybrid fan heater was 150MPa when the temperature of heat transfer fluids was $150^{\circ}C$. It was found that the hybrid fan was structurally safe because the value of maximum equivalent stress was smaller than that of yield stress of the material.

  • In this paper, polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor using by Solid Phase Crystallization(SPC) were fabricated, and these devices were measured and analyzed the electrical output and transfer characteristics along to DC voltage stress. The transfer characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor depended on drain and gate voltages. Threshold voltage is high with long channel length and narrow channel width. And output characteristics of polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor flowed abruptly much higher drain current. The devices induced electrical stress are decreased drain current. At last, field effect mobility is the faster as channel length is high and channel width is narrow.

Thermal Analysis According to Material of Manifold (매니폴드 재질에 따른 열 해석)

  • Manifold could apply stainless steel with light weight and durability to improve fuel efficiency at automotive industry. This study is analyzed and compared by heat transfer and deformation according to the materials of cast iron and stainless steel. The heat transfer at manifold of cast iron at the distribution of heat temperature is more than that of stainless steel. But the value of maximum heat deformation in case of stainless steel is 1.5 times as great as that in case of cast iron. The value of maximum heat equivalent stress in case of stainless steel is 2.7 times as great as that in case of cast iron. This maximum stress at manifold is shown at the part assembled with engine body.

  • As the size of tanker increase, the analysis and strength prediction of the transverse web frames in a tanker have become important problems. Therefore, several papers dicussed the subject and various method of analysis have been presented. Most of these studies are based on the elastic framework analysis. Framework analysis is carried out by the matrix methods. The matrix methods used most frequently are the displacement method, force method and the transfer matrix method. In this paper, the analysis is carried out by the transfer matrix method. The program has been tested by IBM 1130 and the results of example show good agreements with those by the program of stress analysis, STRESS, which was developed in M.I.T.

  • Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis for the concrete bridge was performed in order to investigate the damage of the concrete bridge by the fire of the vehicle. Changes in material properties, such as thermal conductivity, specific heat, density, elasticity, caused by temperature rise were considered. Heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis were performed according to the various location of the fire by ABAQUS. From the comparison of the numerical results, the degree of structural damage for the concrete bridge was investigated and considerations for the design of a concrete bridge against fire were identified.

  • In this paper research result of transient thermal stress analysis of power plant turbine rotors for life prediction under severs operating conditions is presented. Galerkin's recurrence scheme is used for numerical solution of discretized FEM equation of transient heat conduction equation. Boundary conditions for the equation and operating conditions are intensively investigated for accurate life prediction of turbine rotors in operation. A computer program for on-site application is developed and tested. Distribution of thermal stress in turbine rotors during various operating condition is analyzed with the program and it is found that the peak thermal stress appears during cold stage conditions at the first stage of high pressure rotors.
