The future teleconferencing systems will need an appropriate system which controls properly the acoustic echo for the convenient communication. The conventional acoustic echo cancellation algorithms involve large adaptive filters identifying the impulse response of the echo path. The use of adaptive IIR filters appears to be a reasonable way to reduce computational complexity. Effective cancellation of acoustic echo presented in teleconferencing system requires that adaptive filters have a rapid convergence speed. One of the main problems of acoustic echo cancellation techniques is that the convergence properties degrade for an highly correlated signal input such as speech signals. By the way, the introduction of linear prediction filers onto the structure of the acoustic echo cancellation represents one approach to decorrelate the speech signal. And variable step-size LMS algorithm improves the convergence speed through a little increasing of computational complexity. In this paper, we applied these two methods to the acoustic echo canceller(AEC) and showed that these methods have better performances than the conventional AEC.
In this paper, the paralleled forward converter, that is generally used as the power supply for the low voltage, high current load, is described. The proposed forward converter for battery charging could be provided the power without failure not only in steady state but also in the transient period by the step load variation or the unexpected faults among the converter modules. Each converter nodule designed is operated alone with the self closed controller for the elevation of stability, performance, reliability, and maintainability. The frequency response of the designed converter module is analyzed, and the stability is confirmed in analytic method. And the experiments of the paralleled battery charger are carried out in steady state, in the step load variation.

Reference models are used in many control algorithms for improvement of transient response characteristics. They provide desired trajectories that the plant should follow Most control systems have bounded control inputs to avoid saturation of the plant. If we design the reference models that do not account for limits of the control inputs, control performance of the system may be deteriorated. In this paper a new approach of avoiding saturation by varying the reference model for TDC(time delay control) based systems subject to step changes in the reference input. In this scheme, the variable reference model is determined based on the information on control inputs and the size of the step changes in the reference inputs. This scheme was verified by application to the BLDC motor position control system in simulations and experiments. The responses of the TDC with the variable reference model showed better tracking performance than that with the fixed reference model.
The dynamic instability of snapping phenomena has been studied by many researchers. Few papers deal with dynamic buckling under loads with periodic characteristics, and the behavior under periodic excitations is expected to be different from behavior under STEP excitations. We investigate the fundamental mechanisms of the dynamic instability when the sinusoidally shaped arch structures are subjected to sinusoidally distributed excitations with pin-ends. The mechanisms of dynamic indirect snapping of shallow arches are especially investigated under not only STEP function excitations but also under sinusoidal harmonic excitations, applied in the up-and-down direction. The dynamic nonlinear responses are obtained by the numerical integration of the geometrically nonlinear equation of motion, and examined by Fourier spectral analysis in order to get the frequency-dependent characteristics of the dynamic instability for various load levels.
In This paper, we investigated the single step prediction for output responses of chaotic system with multi Input multi output using chaotic neural networks. Since the systems with chaotic characteristics are coupled between internal parameters, the chaotic neural networks is very suitable for output response prediction of chaotic system. To evaluate the performance of the proposed neural network predictor, we adopt for Lorenz attractor with chaotic responses and compare the results with recurrent neural networks. The results demonstrated superior performance on convergence and computation time than the predictor using recurrent neural networks. And we could also see good predictive capability of chaotic neural network predictor.

Many data sets obtained from surveys or medical trials often include missing observations. When these data sets are analyzed, it is general to use only complete cases. However, it is possible to have big biases or involve inefficiency. In this paper, we consider a method for estimating parameters in logistic linear models involving non-ignorable missing data mechanism. A binomial response and normal exploratory model for the missing data are used. We fit the model using the EM algorithm. The E-step is derived by Metropolis-hastings algorithm to generate a sample for missing data and Monte-carlo technique, and the M-step is by Newton-Raphson to maximize likelihood function. Asymptotic variances of the MLE's are derived and the standard error and estimates of parameters are compared.

A numerical dynamic simulation is necessary to investigate the capacity of the HDD. The slider surface become more and more complicated to make the magnetized area smaller and readback signal stronger. So a numerical dynamic simulation must be preceded to develop a new slider in HDD. The dynamic simulations of air-lubricated slider bearing have been peformed using FIFD(Factored Implicit Finite Difference) method. The governing equation, Reynolds equation Is modified with Fukui and Kaneko model(FK model) which includes the first and the second-order slip. The equations of motion for the slider bearing are solved simultaneously with the modified Reynolds equation for the case of three degrees of freedom. The slider transient response for disk step bump and slider impulse force is given for various case and for iteration algorithm and new algorithm.
Back pain with sciatica is a common clinical syndrome that may be the expression of an uncommon pathological process. We describe a case of retroperitoneal lymphoma mimicking herniated lumbar disc. 62 year old male patient with a clinical picture of sciatica as a first manifestation of retroperitoneal lymphoma. His pain was not response to conventional therapy, and progressively worsened. We reevaluated him and found huge retroperitoneal lymphoma in his pelvic cavity. So we discuss how to identify the few who had extra attention. It is important to rule out occult pathology in patient with an atypical presentation. In assessing a patient with a low back pain, accurate evaluation require a logical, step by step method.

The substructuring pseudodynamic test is a hybrid testing method consisting of a numerical simulation of the earthquake response of an analytical model and a loading test of a specimen. The substructuring pseudodynamic testing technique has been applied to various seismic experiments since it has advantages over the shaking table test to study dynamic behaviors of relatively large scale structures. However, experimental errors are inevitable in substructuring pseudodynamic testing. Some of these errors can be monitored during the test, but, due to limitations in control system, they cannot be eliminated. For example, one cannot control exactly the displacements that are actually imposed on the structures at each time step. This paper focuses on a technique to minimize the cumulative effect of such control errors for MDOF system. For this purpose, the modified posterior adjustment of the time increment from a target value $\Delta$t$_{n}$ to an adjusted value is performed to minimize the effect of the control errors for MDOF system.for MDOF system.
The perturbation approach is applied to solve the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, and its valid range has been determined by comparing with the results of the split-step Fourier method over a wide range of parameter values. With γ= 2㎞/sup -1/mW/sup -1/, the critical distance for the first order perturbation approach is estimated to be(equation omitted). The critical distance, Z/sub c/, is defined as the distance at which the normalized square deviation compared to the split-step Fourier method reaches 10/sup -3/. Including the second order perturbation will increase Z/sub c/ more than a factor of two, but the increased computation load makes the perturbation approach less attractive. In addition, it is shown mathematically that the perturbation approach is equivalent to the Volterra series approach, which can be used to design a nonlinear equalizer (or compensator). Finally, the perturbation approach is applied to obtain the sinusoidal response of the fiber, and its range of validity has been studied.
