Effects of Inplane Modes in SEA on Structure-Borne Noise Transmission in Ship Structures

  • It is normal practice to consider bending wave modes only, when one applies SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) to ship structures because of complexities in SEA modeling and evaluation of coupling loss factors for inplane modes. According to the result of Tratch[1], the inplane wave modes becomes important for the analysis of a foundation structure as the distance from the source and receiver increases. In this paper, the effect of inplane wave modes on structure-borne noise propagation in ship structures is presented. It is shown that the inplane wave could increase the noise level more than 10 dB compared with the results without inplane wave modes at high frequency bands for compartments far from the source location.

SEA를 이용한 선박소음해석 시스템 개발(I) (The Development of Shipboard Noise Analysis System using Statistical Energy Analysis(I))

  • 본 논문은 통계적에너지 해석법(SEA)을 이용하여 선박소음해석 프로그램을 개발하는 과정중에 얻어진 연구결과를 소개하였다. 주요 내용은 SEA를 이용한 실선 소음해석 프로그램 NASS의 해석 모듈 개발과 검증, 그리고 선체구조 및 격실에 대한 모델링 기법이 제시되었다. 또한 NASS를 이용하여 실선에 대한 공기음 및 고체음 예측을 수행하였으며 이를 실선 계측값과 비교검토하였다. 비교 결과로부터 모델링 기법 및 방사효율 산정의 문제점을 발견할 수 있었으나, 상부갑판에서는 오차가 5 dB 이내였으며 특히 종래의 경험적인 방법으로서는 불가능했던 밴드별 경향의 일치등 긍정적 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • It is well known that Statistical Energy Analysis(SEA) is one of very attractive analytical methods to solve shipboard noise problems. With reasonable successes, many applications of SEA to shipboard noise prediction have been reported. However when one wishes to obtain theoretical predictions by using SEA in practical systems, he will find difficulty in modeling of source systems, that is, foundations where to place main engine, generator, compressor, and so on. Also, he will find that it is hard to determine the amount of power flow from machinery to structures. In this paper, SEA of a simple foundation model was carried out using the estimated amount of power flow from source; the estimated mobility method. The comparison between the estimated and measured results is presented. That comparison shows a method to get structure-borne noise power from the combination of machinery and foundation. This prediction method gave a good results for a air-compressor mounted on a model foundation. The method is expected to give a reasonable power output in practical problems.

MCP방법을 이용한 장기간 풍속 및 풍력에너지 변동 특성 분석 (Variability Characteristics Analysis of the Long-term Wind and Wind Energy Using the MCP Method)

  • Wind resource data of short-term period has to be corrected a long-term period by using MCP method that Is a statistical method to predict the long-term wind resource at target site data with a reference site data. Because the field measurement for wind assessment is limited to a short period by various constraints. In this study, 2 different MCP methods such as Linear regression and Matrix method were chosen to compare the predictive accuracy between the methods. Finally long-term wind speed, wind power density and capacity factor at the target site for 20 years were estimated for the variability of wind and wind energy. As a result, for 20 years annual average wind speed, Yellow sea off shore wind farm was estimated to have 4.29% for coefficient of variation, CV, and -9.57%~9.53% for range of variation, RV. It was predicted that the annual wind speed at Yellow sea offshore wind farm varied within ${\pm}10%$.

Combining different forms of statistical energy analysis to predict vibrations in a steel box girder comprising periodic stiffening ribs

  • Due to the complexity of the structure and the limits of classical SEA, a combined SEA approach is employed, with angle-dependent SEA in the low- and mid-frequency ranges and advanced SEA (ASEA) considering indirect coupling in the high-frequency range. As an important component of the steel box girder, the dynamic response of an L-junction periodic ribbed plate is calculated first by the combined SEA and validated by the impact hammer test and finite element method (FEM). Results show that the indirect coupling due to the periodicity of stiffened plate is significant at high frequencies and may cause the error to reach 38.4 dB. Hence, the incident bending wave angle cannot be ignored in comparison to classical SEA. The combined SEA is then extended to investigate the vibration properties of the steel box girder. The bending wave transmission study is likewise carried out to gain further physical insight into indirect coupling. By comparison with FEM and classical SEA, this approach yields good accuracy for calculating the dynamic responses of the steel box girder made of periodic ribbed plates in a wide frequency range. Furthermore, the influences of some important parameters are discussed, and suggestions for vibration and noise control are provided.

서로 다른 매질을 갖는 격실사이의 음파전달해석 (An Analysis of the Sound Propagation between Rooms with Different Mediums)

  • 본 논문은 인접한 두 격실의 매질이 다를 때 공통 벽을 통한 음파의 전파를 해석한 내용을 다루었다. 통계적 에너지해석법(statistical energy energy)을 사용하여 두 격실의 음향에너지와 벽의 진동에너지간의 에너지 평형을 고려하였으며 소음원실의 음압이 벽을 투과하는 성분 외에 벽의 구조소음으로 인한 음의 방사(radiation)가 수음원실의 음압에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 예제로 선박의 엔진실과 물탱크가 크기 $8.4{\times}4$ m인 강판을 사이에 두고 접한 경우를 해석하였다. 강판의 임계주파수(critical frequency)가 관심주파수대역보다 큰 경우 63 Hz이하의 저주파수대역을 제외하고 음파의 전달은 강판을 투과하는 성분에 의해 주로 결정되며 강판의 구조소음에 기인한 방사소음은 무시할 정도로 기여도가 작음을 확인하였다.

레이 추적 기법을 이용한 연속 평판 구조물의 고주파수 진동해석 (High Frequency Vibration Analysis of Arrayed Panel Structures Using a Ray Tracing Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 2차원 구조물의 고주파수 대역 진동 해석을 위하여, 원형파를 기본으로 한 레이 추적 기법(RTM)의 특성에 관한 논의를 하였다. 발산되는 원형파를 묘사하는 레이튜브 개념을 사용하여, 연성경계에서 입사파, 전달파, 그리고 반사파가 경계조건을 만족하도록 관계식을 유도하였다. 제안된 레이 모델을 직렬 배열 연결 평판 구조물에 적응하였는데, 직렬로 배열된 2개의 연결된 평판, 3개 및 4개의 연결된 평판에 대한 해석 결과를 통계적 에너지 해석법(SEA) 및 파동 인텐시티 해석법(WIA)과 비교하여 보았다. 그 결과, SEA 보다 개선된 예측을 할 수 있으며, WIA와는 비슷한 예측 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 제안된 RTM을 사용하면 진동 에너지와 진동 인텐시티의 대략적 공간 분포를 알 수 있는 장점이 있다. 제안된 RTM은 2차원 연성 구조물의 고주파수 진동 해석을 위한 유용한 기법으로써 쓰일 것으로 기대된다.

대형 Ro-Ro Ferry의 방음 설계 (A Noise Control of a Ro-Ro Passenger Ferry)

  • In general, the essential requirement for cruisers or car ferries is the reduction in noise to ensure high quality and comfort. Recently, the Ro-Ro Passengers Ferry (ROPAX) was built in Hyundai Heavy Industries. In order to minimize the noise levels, careful attention have to De paid by the special committee of experts from the initial design stage to the sea trial. Proper countermeasures, considering the characteristics of sources and receiver spaces, were applied from the noise prediction and various experiment results. Finally, this ship was successfully delivered with excellent noise properties. This paper describes the procedure of noise analysis, the countermeasures of noise control, and the measurement results of the sea trial. Onboard noise analysis had been carried out by statistical energy analysis program and outdoor noise prediction program based on ISO9614. The prediction results are in good agreements with the measurement results. The technology to minimize the noise levels for cruisers or car ferries has been established throughout the construction of this ship.

  • 이륙과 음속 통과시 랜덤진동형태의 음향/진동환경에 노출되는 위성체의 음향/진동시험은 시제품을 완성한 후에 슨1행되므로 않은 시행착오를 겪거나, 과다한 안전계수를 사용하여 불필요한 무게증가 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위하여 통계적 에너지 해석법 (Statistical Energy Analysis)을 이용한 선행 해석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 KOMPSAT-1 (Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-1) 위성체의 SDM (Structural Dynamic Model)에 대하여 SEA 해석을 수행하였다. 감쇠 손실 인자 (Damping Loss Ffactor)는 단판을 분리하여, 연성 손실 인자(Coupling Loss Factor)는 SDM모델 하부의 두 샌드위치 패널을 분리하여 실험적으로 산정하였다.

  • SEA is a useful tool to predict noise and vibration response in high frequency region but has a weak point not to be able to express modal behavior in low frequency region. For a structure with middle subsystem having relatively higher modal density than excited subsystem and receiving subsystem, we studied the possibility that the modal behavior of receiving subsystem can express by considering finite mobility of excited subsystem. For a simply three-coupled beams which is chosen for feasibility study, the response of receiving beam was investigated with varying the length & area moment of inertia of middle beam. In case that the middle beam has relatively higher modal density than exciting beam, the application to finite mobility of excited beam led to express modal behavior of receiving beam relatively well.
