In this paper, we investigate two new candidate transmission schemes, non-orthogonal frequency reuse (NOFR) and beam-hopping (BH). They operate in different domains (frequency and time/space, respectively), and we want to know which domain shows overall best performance. We propose a novel formulation of the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) which allows us to prove the frequency/time duality of these schemes. Further, we propose two novel capacity optimization approaches assuming per-beam SINR constraints in order to use the satellite resources (e.g., power and bandwidth) more efficiently. Moreover, we develop a general methodology to include technological constraints due to realistic implementations, and obtain the main factors that prevent the two technologies dual of each other in practice, and formulate the technological gap between them. The Shannon capacity (upper bound) and current state-of-the-art coding and modulations are analyzed in order to quantify the gap and to evaluate the performance of the two candidate schemes. Simulation results show significant improvements in terms of power gain, spectral efficiency and traffic matching ratio when comparing with conventional systems, which are designed based on uniform bandwidth and power allocation. The results also show that BH system turns out to show a less complex design and performs better than NOFR system specially for non-real time services.

In recent years there has been considerable interest in the construction of super high-rise buildings. From the prior art, various procedures and devices for surveys during and after the phase of erection of a high-rise building are known. High-rise buildings are subject to strong external tilt effects caused, for instance, by wind pressures, unilateral thermal effects by exposure to sunlight, and unilateral loads. Such effects are a particular challenge in the phase of construction of a high-rise building, in as much as the high-rise building under construction is also subject to tilt effects, and will at least temporarily lose its - as a rule exactly vertical - alignment. Yet construction should progress in such a way that the building is aligned as planned, and particularly so in the vertical, when returning into an un-tilted basic state. It is essential that a straight element be constructed that theoretically, even when moving around its design centre point due to varying loads, would have an exactly vertical alignment when all biasing conditions are neutralised. Because of differential raft settlement, differential concrete shortening, and construction tolerances, this ideal situation will rarely be achieved. This paper describes a procedure developed by the authors using GPS observations combined with a network of precision inclination sensor to provide reliable coordinated points at the top of the worldwide highest-rise building under construction in Dubai.
Purpose Real estate usually takes charge of the highest proportion of physical properties which individual, organizations, and government hold and instability of real estate market affects the economic condition seriously for each economic subject. Consequently, practices for predicting the real estate market have attention for various reasons, such as financial investment, administrative convenience, and wealth management. Additionally, development of machine learning algorithms and computing hardware enhances the expectation for more precise and useful prediction models in real estate market. Design/methodology/approach In response to the demand, this paper aims to provide a framework for forecasting the real estate market with machine learning algorithms. The framework consists of demonstrating the prediction efficiency of each machine learning algorithm, interpreting the interior feature effects of prediction model with a state-of-art algorithm, LIME(Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanation), and comparing the results in different cities. Findings This research could not only enhance the academic base for information system and real estate fields, but also resolve information asymmetry on real estate market among economic subjects. This research revealed that macroeconomic indicators, real estate-related indicators, and Google Trends search indexes can predict real-estate prices quite well.

Free-field ground motion during earthquake is significantly affected by the local site conditions and it is essential for the seismic design to perform the site specific ground response analysis. In this paper, the procedures of site specific ground response analysis were suggested based on the Korean seismic guideline and the review of state of the art technologies. The concept of ground response analysis was introduced, and the techniques of obtaining soil data for one dimensional equivalent linear analysis which include site investigation planning, field and laboratory testing techniques, deformational characteristics of soils at small to large strains, and site characterization techniques combining field and laboratory test results, were suggested. Finally, the case study was performed at Inchon area following the suggested procedure.

The purpose of the study is to design and propose metadata standard for building AI training dataset of landmark images. In order to achieve the purpose, we first examined and analyzed the state of art of the types of image retrieval systems and their indexing methods, comprehensively. We then investigated open training dataset and machine learning tools for image object recognition. Sequentially, we selected metadata elements optimized for the AI training dataset of landmark images and defined the input data for each element. We then concluded the study with implications and suggestions for the development of application services using the results of the study.
In recent years, the air pollution and Air Quality Index (AQI) has been a pivotal point for researchers due to its effect on human health. Various research has been done in predicting the AQI but most of these studies, either lack dense temporal data or cover one or two air pollutant elements. In this paper, a hybrid Convolutional Neural approach integrated with recurrent neural network architecture (CNN-LSTM), is presented to find air pollution inference using a multivariate air pollutant elements dataset. The aim of this research is to design a robust and real-time air pollutant forecasting system by exploiting a neural network. The proposed approach is implemented on a 24-month dataset from Seoul, Republic of Korea. The predicted results are cross-validated with the real dataset and compared with the state-of-the-art techniques to evaluate its robustness and performance. The proposed model outperforms SVM, SVM-Polynomial, ANN, and RF models with 60.17%, 68.99%, 14.6%, and 6.29%, respectively. The model performs SVM and SVM-Polynomial in predicting O3 by 78.04% and 83.79%, respectively. Overall performance of the model is measured in terms of Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE).

As optical communication is being substituted for telecommunication, the demand of a large variety of fiber optic components is increasing. V-groove substrates, one of the module components, are used to connect optical fibers to optical planar circuits and to arrange fibers. Their applications are multi-channel optical connectors and optical waveguide fiber coupling, etc. Because these substrates are a critical part of the splitter in a multiplexer and a multi fiber connector, precise and reliable fabrication process is required. For precisely aligning core pitch between fibers, machined core pitch tolerance should be within sub-microns. Therefore, these are generally produced by state-of-the-art micro-fabrication like MEMS. However, most of the process equipment is very expensive. It is also difficult to change the process line for custom designs to meet specific requirements using various materials. For various design specifications such as different values of the V angle and low-priced process, the fabrication method should be flexible and low cost. To achieve this goal, we have suggested a miniaturized machine tool with high accuracy positioning system. Through this study, it is shown that this cutting process can be applied to produce V-groove subtracts. We also show the possibility of using a miniaturized machining system for producing small parts.

This paper presents effective design schemes for a photovoltaic (PV) and battery hybrid system that includes state-of-the-art technologies such as maximum power point tracking scheme for PV arrays, an effective charging/discharging circuit for batteries, and grid-interfacing power inverters. Compared to commonly-used PV systems, the proposed configuration has more flexibility and autonomy in controlling individual components of the PV-battery hybrid system. This paper also proposes an intelligent coordination scheme for the components of the PV-battery hybrid system to improve the efficiency of renewable energy resources and peak-load management. The proposed algorithm is based on a rule-based expert system that has excellent capability to optimize multi-objective functions. The proposed configuration and algorithms are investigated via switching-level simulation studies of the PV-battery hybrid system.

Cloud computing evolve as a cost effective business model for IT companies to focus on their core business without perturbing on infrastructure related issues. Hence, major IT firms and Small & Medium Enterprises (SME) are adopting cloud services on rental basis from cloud providers. Cloud Service level agreements (SLA) act as a key liaison between consumers and providers on renting Anything as a Service (AaaS). Design of such an agreement must aim for greater profit to providers as well as assured availability of services to consumers. However in reality, cloud SLA is not satisfying the parties involved because of its inherent complex nature and issues. Also currently most of the agreements are unilateral to favour the provider. This study focuses on comprehensive, 360-degree survey on different aspects of the cloud service agreements. We detailed the life cycle of SLA based on negotiation, different types of SLA, current standards, languages & characteristics, metrics and issues involved in it. This study will help the cloud actors to understand and evaluate the agreements and to make firm decision on negotiation. The need for standardized, bilateral, semantic SLA has also been proposed.
Currently, there is a gradual increase in double-income households in our country, and one-child families gradually become the norm as well due to a decrease in the birth rate. The purpose of this study was to examine the characteristics of spatial use and furniture arrangements in the residential spaces of one-child double-income households in an effort to be of use for spatial planning suitable for their living. 30 cases of double-income households whose children's ages ranged from infancy to secondary school years were visited to have in-depth interviews and make on-site inspections. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the most common spatial use pattern for three bedrooms was using one for the parents, another for their child and the third for personal computers and clothing storage. It signified that the parents and their child used one room respectively, and that there were personal computers and clothing in the third room. Second, as for the pattern of using the rooms according to furniture arrangements, there were great disparities in that regard according to child age. It implies that there were differences in their living and needs for furniture arrangements according to their children's growth. The findings of the study made it possible to determine the state of living in the double-income households in detail, and suggest that differentiated house planning is required depending on children's age groups.
