  • The rubber was compounded with carbon black and silica series-filler to examine the effects of the various rubber fillers on a gasket material's suitability and fuel cell stack conclusion. The evaluation of a long term heat resistance and oil resistance of the mixed rubber material was performed considering at the drive environment of PEMFC. Test results of compression set for the most influencing property of gasket showed that it was about less than 15% at long term of up to 1000 h. In this experiment, FEM analysis is carried out about the rubber material's properties depending on each filler and the stress which is produced when a gasket is contracted by using various filler. Sealing force was expected to maximum 2.5 MPa from minimum 0.2 MPa by using FEM (finite element method) at stacking gasket to gasket.

  • The composite shell element is developed for the solution of undamped forced vibration problem of composite curved panels. The finite element used in the current study is an 4-node enhanced assumed shell element with six degrees of freedom per node. The composite shell element is free of both shear and membrane locking phenomenon by using the enhanced assumed strain(EAS) method. A modification to the first-order shear deformation shell theory is proposed, which results in parabolic thorough-thickness distribution of the transverse shear strains and stresses. It eliminates the need for shear correction factors in the first order theory. Newmark's direct integration technique is used for carrying out the integration of the equation motion, to obtain the repones history. Parametric studies of curved composite panels are carried out for forced vibration analysis by geometrical shapes and by laminated composite; such as fiber orientation, stacking sequence.

  • In this paper, optimal designs of bicycle frame were studied for weight reduction of bicycle using carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP), glass-fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) and Kevlar-fiber-reinforced plastic (KFRP), respectively. Based on the anisotropic properties of FRP material, stacking angle and thickness optimization were performed under the safety reference of European committee for standardization (CEN) to ensure the stability of bicycle frame. Finally, performances of FRP bicycle frame was evaluated by digital logic method based on the optimized results of weight, strength properties and cost. Then, the optimized bicycle frame composed of each FRPs were evaluated and ranked by total performance values.

  • The microstructures of a Tl$_{0.8}Pb_{0.2}Bi_{0.2}Sr_{1.6}Ca_2Cu_3O_{9+{\delta}}$/Ag tape (tape I ) with J$_c$ of 17,600 A/cm$^2$ at 77 K and 0 T and three Tl$_{0.8}Pb_{0.2}Bi_{0.2}Sr_{1.8}Ba_{0.2}Ca_{2.2}Cu_3O_{9+{\delta}}$/Ag tapes with J$_c$'s of 9,300 (tape II), 16,700 (tape III) and 25,200 A/cm$^2$ (tape IV)prepared using the powder-in-tube method and an in-situ reaction method, were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and compared each other. ln the tape preparation, an intermediate rolling process was incorporated during final heat-treatment for the last tape, but not for the rest of the tapes. The microstructural analysis revealed clear differences in grain-texturing, crystallographic defects and impurity phases, depending on the chemical composition of the tape. Tendency of directional grain-alignment increased in an order of tapes I, II III and IV. In tape IV, T1-1223 grains are textured, at least in local regions. In crystallographic defects, while stacking faults were prevalent in the former composition, dislocations and voids were frequently observed in the latter. Also impurity phases were appeared to be more abundant in the former than in the latter. The relationship between 1,and the microstructure in the tapes was attempted to explain in a term of grain-linking.

  • To remove ringing and increase vertical resolution of GRP data, signature deconvolution was applied to GPR data obtained using a 100 MHz antenna in the Soyang Lake. The signature was extracted through stacking reflection signals from the lake bottom. Results of this deterministic deconvolution was compared with those from the conventional Wienner method. Due to increased vertical resolution, both deconvolution methods are able to resolve three or more layers in an apparent single layer on the input data. However, identification of reflection boundaries from ringing is not easy due to poor definition in the output data of the Wienner filter. On the contrary, the signature deconvolution greatly enhances both vertical resolution and definition of reflection boundaries, showing detailed internal stratigraphic features of the three sedimentary layers. Since extraction of signature at various depths is possible, this deconvolution method can be appled effectively to unstationary GPR data.

  • In order to predict the dynamic behavior of composite laminated plate accurately, the parametric identification is performed using its mechanical properties- $E_1,\;E_2,\;V_{12},\;G_{12}$ as design parameters. After natural frequencies are measured through simple vibration test, the objective function consists of the sum of errors between experimental and numerical frequencies of a structure. As optimization algorithm, conjugate gradient method is used to minimize the objective function. Sensitivity Analysis is performed to update design parameters during this process and can explain the result of parametric identification. In order to check the propriety of result, mode shapes are compared before and after identification. The improved prediction of natural frequencies of composite laminated plate is obtained with updated properties. For the application of result, updated properties is applied to the composite laminated plate that has different stacking sequence.

  • The blue light emitting diode (LED) structure based on non-polar a-plane (11-20) GaN which was coated TiO2 nanoparticles using spin coating method was grown on r-plane (1-102) sapphire substrates to improve light extraction efficiency. We report on the emission and structural properties with temperature dependence of photoluminescence (PL) and x-ray rocking curves (XRC). From PL results at 13 K of undoped GaN samples, basal plane stacking fault (BSF) and near band edge (NBE) emission peak were observed at 3.434 eV and 3.484 eV, respectively. We also found the temperature-induced band-gap shrinkage, which was fitted well with empirical Varshini's equation. The PL intensity of TiO2 nanoparticles ?coated multiple quantum well (MQW) sample is decayed slower than that of no coating sample with increasing temperature. The anisotrophic strain and azimuth angle dependence in the films were shown from XRC results. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) along the GaN [11-20] and [1-100] directions were 564.9 arcsec and 490.8 arcsec, respectively. A small deviation of FWHM values at in-plane direction is attributed to uniform in-plane strain.

  • Copper via filling is the important factor in 3-D stacking interconnection of SiP (system in package). As the packaging density is getting higher, the size of via is getting smaller. When DC electroplating is applied, a defect-free hole cannot be obtained in a small size via hole. To prevent the defects in holes, pulse and pulse reverse current was applied in copper via filling. The holes, $20\and\;50{\mu}m$ in diameter and $100{\sim}190\;{\mu}m$ in height. The holes were prepared by DRIE method. Ta was sputtered for copper diffusion barrier followed by copper seed layer IMP sputtering. Via specimen were filled by DC, pulse and pulse-reverse current electroplating methods. The effects of additives and current types on copper deposits were investigated. Vertical and horizontal cross section of via were observed by SEM to find the defects in via. When pulse-reverse electroplating method was used, defect free via were successfully obtained.

  • Applications of advanced composite material in construction field are tending upwards and development of all composite material bridges is making progress rapidly in home and abroad due to their high strength to weight ratio. This paper formulated the dynamic responses of the laminated composite structures subjected to moving load and analyzed the various dynamic behaviors using the finite element method. The nondimensionalized natural frequencies of a simply supported square-laminated composite plate are considered for verifications. Mode superposition and Newmark direct integration method are applied for moving load analysis. For structural models, dynamic magnification factor calculated for various velocities of the moving load and displacements characteristics of laminated composite structures due to the moving load are investigated theoretically Numerical results are presented to study the effects of lamination scheme, stacking sequence, and fiber angle for laminated composite structures during moving load. The various results on moving load and lamination through numerical analysis will present an important basic data for development and grasp the behavior of all composite material bridges.

  • paper presents the results of a three-dimensional study of the natural vibration of laminated composite rectangular plates with various combinations of clamped and free boundaries. The Ritz method was used to obtain the stationary values of the associated Lagrangian, with displacements approximated using mathematicaly complete, characteristic orthogonal polynomials. The correctness of the three-dimensional model was established through a convergence study of the non-dimensional frequencies, followed by a comparison of the analytical findings in the existing literature. The wide scope of additional three-dimensional frequency results explains the influence of a number of geometrical and material parameters for angle-ply and cross-ply laminated plates, namely aspect ratio (${\mathcal{a/b}}$), thickness ratio (${\mathcal{a/h}}$), orthotropy of material, number of plies (${\mathcal{N}}$), fiber orientation angle (${\theta}$), and stacking sequence.
