  • This study was designed to analyze the social and institutional problems that may arise in the early 2000s of the United States and in the scholarship program for university student-athletes by analyzing Dialogues in the Film [The Blind Side] and to derive the meaning of this to Korean society and education field. In summary, the first is that there is a need for fundamental change in the thinking about gender discrimination and racist expressions expressed in everyday life including a Sport field not only in the United states but also in Korean society. Second, the Korea University Sports Federation(KUSF), like NCAA, is working on the right to study and human rights of university athletes, but in the commercialism of modern sports related to the capitalism, these systems and regulations could be a bigger obstacle to the process of growing young players. And finally, like the case of "Flower-loving Ferdinand" who having a lot in common with the main character, Michael in the Film, I hope that there will be a "Sports Ferdinand" that likes the sport itself, which is fully satisfied with its life and lives happily even if it is not a sports star.

  • For decades, creating a desired locomotive motion in a goal-oriented manner has been a challenge in character animation. Data-driven methods using generative models have demonstrated efficient ways of predicting long sequences of motions without the need for explicit conditioning. While these methods produce high-quality long-term motions, they can be limited when it comes to synthesizing motion for challenging novel scenarios, such as punching a random target. A state-of-the-art solution to overcome this limitation is by using a GAN Discriminator to imitate motion data clips and incorporating reinforcement learning to compose goal-oriented motions. In this paper, our research aims to create characters performing combat sports such as boxing, using a novel reward design in conjunction with existing GAN-based approaches. We experimentally demonstrate that both the Adversarial Motion Prior [3] and Adversarial Skill Embeddings [4] methods are capable of generating viable motions for a character punching a random target, even in the absence of mocap data that specifically captures the transition between punching and locomotion. Also, with a single learned policy, multiple task controllers can be constructed through the TimeChamber framework.

  • Caption in video plays an important role that delivers video content. Existing caption region extraction methods are difficult to extract caption region from background because they are sensitive to noise. This paper proposes the method to extract caption region in sports video using multiple frame merge and MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangles). As preprocessing, adaptive threshold can be extracted using contrast stretching and Othu Method. Caption frame interval is extracted by multiple frame merge and caption region is efficiently extracted by median filtering, morphological dilation, region labeling, candidate character region filtering, and MBR extraction.

  • The background, concept, and design characteristics of the Caports style, which comes into new domestic fashion trend of sportism, are discussed in this article. Analysis are performed with utilizing pictures, advertizements of fashion magazine such as Vogue Korea, Fashionbiz, Ceci, etc., and photographs from internet sites, domestic papers since 2002. The result of this study is as followings: New life style, arose from the change of social and cultural environment, such as increase in leisure time, fusion and well-being trend, begins to be reflected in caports style in the form of stress on utility and functionality. The caports style is a fusion style based on sports wear with character and fashion. And, it can be adapted as a sports wear and daytime wear. With respect to the form, it emphasizes healthy body line, and as for the material, it strikingly utilizes various and functional materials. It also shows active and cheerful image using bright color, and utilizes functional and decorative details such as line-tape, zipper, hood.   • The purpose of this study was to investigate the kinematic difference between skilled and less skilled group for the forward walk at dance sports rumba. Six female players(skilled group: 3, less skilled group: 3) were participated as the subjects. To obtain the three-dimensional location coordinates in the joints and segments, it shot with 100Hz/s using 8 video cameras. Step length, shoulder rotation angle, orientation angle and angular velocity of pelvis were analyzed for each trail. The skilled group showed a bigger movement than the less skilled group at the shoulder rotation angle and ROM. The skilled group showed a bigger movement than the less skilled group at the up/down obliquity and internal/external rotation movement for pelvis. And the skilled group showed a bigger movement than the less skilled group at Maximum angle (down obliquity) of P2 and Maximum angle (up obliquity) of P3 to pelvis ROM. The skilled group showed a faster angular velocity than the less skilled group at P2 (+ direction, posterior) of anterior & posterior tilt, P2 & P3 (- direction, up) of up & down obliquity, and P2 (+ direction, external) of internal & external rotation.

  • We propose a realtime numeric caption recognition algorithm that automatically recognizes the numeric caption generated by computer graphics (CG) and displays the modified caption using the recognized resource only when a valuable numeric caption appears in the aimed specific region of the live sportscast scene produced by other broadcasting stations. We extract the mesh feature from the enhanced binary image as a feature vector after acquiring the sports broadcast scenes using a frame grabber in realtime and then recover the valuable resource from just a numeric image by perceiving the character using the neural network. Finally, the result is verified by the knowledge-based rule set designed for more stable and reliable output and is displayed on a screen as the converted CC caption serving our purpose. At present, we have actually provided the realtime automatic mile-to-kilometer caption conversion system taking up our algorithm f3r the regular Major League Baseball (MLB) program being broadcasted live throughout Korea over our nationwide network. This caption conversion system is able to automatically convert the caption in mile universally used in the United States into that in kilometer in realtime, which is familiar to almost Koreans, and makes us get a favorable criticism from the TV audience.

  • Practical use degree of Motion Capture technology is low in korea game market which did growth of MMORPG putting first. However, that is dance game or FPS, sports game genre is magnified. Therefore, practical use degree of Motion Capture technology is increasing. And, need various research to take advantage of Motion Capture technology effectively. Studied 3D game character animation manufacture pipe line for it. Characteristic of this manufacture pipe line is work classification, correction of two times, Biped format all-in-one to progress Motion Capture technology and keyframe-animation work at the same time. Also, manufacture pipe line that is consisted of this constituent has economic performance, extensity, systemicity.

A Comparative Analysis of Styles of Street Fashion Between Korean and Chinese Women for Improving the Global Competitiveness of Korean Fashion Brands - Focus on 2009 S/S Seoul, Shanghai and Beijing - (한국 패션브랜드의 경쟁력 제고를 위한 한.중 여성 스트리트 패션 스타일 비교분석 - 2009 S/S 서울, 상하이, 베이징을 중심으로 -)

  • This study presents the basic resources for the enhancement of the competitiveness of the Korean fashion brands in the Chinese fashion market. They are composed of the differences and common points of clothing styles in Seoul, Beijing, and Shanghai, by analyzing the style comparatively. The research was performed by taking pictures of the Summer 2009 street fashions, from July $1^{st}$ to July $15^{th}$ 1999 (10 am to 5 pm). Among the data about the three cities, 200 photos were selected of women in their twenties and thirties, respectively. The disparity of regional preferences were noted in the fields of easy casual, romantic casual, sports casual, character casual, classic style, and feminine style. There were no specific differences in style among the three cities in the easy casual and classic style. The romantic casual after the easy casual were more prevalent in Seoul, as compared to the two cities in China. The neat style was more prevalent in Seoul. In Beijing the feminine style after the easy casual were preferred. The conservative style was more preferred in Seoul, while the body exposed style was preferred in Beijing and Shanghai. In Shanghai, the character casual was preferred and shows the similarity to the fashion style of Seoul, rather than Beijing. The high exposure of the body in romantic casual and feminine styles was more remarkable in Beijing and Shanghai. The frequency of the character casual that emphasized individuality with a unique style was relatively high in Shanghai. Seoul, Shanghai, and Beijing showed a similarity in the acceptance of fashion trends and preferences in clothing style. However, the fashion coordination in Shanghai and Beijing was different from Seoul.

An Analysis of the Fashion Trends Expressed on the Korean Men´s Golfwears (우리나라 남성 골프웨어에 나타난 패션 경향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the fashion trends of Korean men's golfwears and furnished the researchers of same major with reliable data base. Lately, Korean men were concerned about their appearance rather than social position. Moreover, they tried to express the needs of youthfulness with free lift through clothings. These trend had been showed itself not only development of golfwears, but also change of esthetic tastes of men's golfwears. First of all, the development of men's golfwears was affected by the major three factors out of many various factors. That is, popularization of golf by the international activities of Korean progolfers, appearance of young consumers after IMF and the casualization of the men's formal dress, the making an everyday dress of men's sportswears. The results of analyzing of fashion trends of the men's golfwears is as follow: 1. The characteristics with naturalness, comfort of men's golfwears was manifested casualization trends by the factors of downward tendency of golfer's age, 5-days working, men's biz casual preference, individual ism after IMF. 2. Men's character golfwears was showed by the ageless as a youthfulness expression, the Sportism as an international trend, 2002 world cup, etc. 3. All of golfwears have to be functional characteristics because the golf is an active sports spending long time in golf course. Unconstruction style was an important fashion trends of men's golfwears by using functional materials to meet the needs of consumers. 4. The men's clothing was deviated from a fixed idea called masculine after IMF. Moreover, this trend was increased by the appearance of lovely man, genderlessness and had an effect on men's golfwears. Consequently. men's golfwears was showed feminization characteristics as a feminine, sensitive style. In the future, Korean men will try to express their character and thought freely through golfwears, men's golfwears will be continued ‘beyond the golf course’ image reflecting in the future fashion trends.

  • In this paper, we propose the method of extracting the caption regions from news video and the method of recognizing the captions that can be used mainly for content-based indexing and retrieving the MPEG-2 compressed news for NOD(News On Demand). The proposed method can reduce the searching time on detecting caption frames with minimum MPEG-2 decoding, and effectively eliminate the noise in caption regions by deliberately devised preprocessing. Because the kind of fonts that are used for captions is not various in the news video, an enhanced template matching method is used for recognizing characters. We could obtain good recognition result in the experiment of sports news video by the proposed methods.
