  • Fire safety systems in large buildings are likely to be complex and may be designed independently of other systems. This means that the interactions and interfaces between the fire safety systems and between the environmental control systems and the fire safety systems may not be carried out properly. Many large, recent buildings have many technological component systems that are used for the control of the environment within the building. Because of the "special" nature of the fire safety systems there is little consideration is given to the possibility systems with a dual function. However, many of the functions of fire safety systems are extensions of systems that provide the day to day control over the internal environment. The present world-wide trend towards the establishment of performance codes, and regulations, will enable the functional design of all systems and thereby allow closer integration of the "ordinary" and "special" systems. Some aspects of the functional and performance characteristics of systems in buildings are introduced and discussed. Special reference is made to the contributions of the systems to the minimisation of fire damage.e minimisation of fire damage.

  • This study examines functions in traditional Korean special costumes in accordance with the climatic factors of the Korean peninsula. The study focused on clothes worn by commoners during the Joseon dynasty. Climate change has been a major global issue in recent times, and it has been a hot topic in social, cultural, scientific, economic, and industrial communities. Studies have been conducted regarding the rapidly changing climate, and finding ways to cope with unusual temperatures. This thesis studies the development of special costumes in preparation for unusual climates, and requirements of the costume in accordance with the climatic factors, as well as the direction of its development. Its biggest significance lies in collecting and organizing the research data on special costume studies, and on costumes of the commoners, which have been fairly insufficient up to this point. After the Little Ice Age, the Joseon Dynasty period faced poor external environment due to unusual temperatures. The results of studying the costumes of the commoners are as follows: The climate of the Korean peninsula displayed different characteristics depending on the season, so the form, material, and appearance of the seasonal clothing items showed clear differences, and the difference in the crops cultivated according to the climate led to difference in material and material preference shown in the costumes. This meant that costumes differed based on region. In addition, difference in social hierarchy, regulations on costume according to class, and farming oriented social background during the period of Joseon dynasty slowed the development of costumes of commoners, but appears to have had a positive effect on the development of special costumes. We anticipate more succeeding studies on costumes of the commoners and special costumes in the future. We hope more costumes that can wisely respond to the approaching changes in temperature in the Korean peninsula can be designed via modernization of traditional Korean special costumes.

  • Toll-like receptors (TLRs) can recognize conserved molecular patterns and initiate a wide range of innate and adaptive immune responses against invading infectious agents. The aim of this study was to assess the transcript profile of mink TLRs (mTLRs) in mink peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and a range of tissues, and to explore the potential role of mTLRs in the antiviral immune response process. The results indicated that the mTLR partial nucleotide sequences had a high degree of nucleotide identity with ferret sequences (95-98%). Phylogenetic analysis showed that mammalian TLRs grouped into five TLR families, with a closer relationship of the mTLRs with those of ferret than the other mammalian sequences. Moreover, all the mTLRs were ubiquitously expressed in lymphoid organs (spleen and lymph nodes) and PBMCs. Interestingly, the mTLR expression patterns in lung, uterus, and heart showed quite a lot of similarity. Another remarkable observation was the wide expression of mTLR1-3 mRNAs in all tissues. Among the analyzed tissues, skeletal muscle was revealed to being the lowest repertoire of mTLR expression. Additionally, mink PBMCs exposed to the canine distemper virus revealed significant upregulation of mTLR2, mTLR4, mTLR7, and mTLR8 mRNAs, indicating that mTLRs have a role in innate immunity in the mink. Collectively, our results are the first to establish the basic expression patterns of mTLRs and the relationship between mTLRs and a virus, which will contribute to better understanding of the evolution and the functions of mTLRs in the innate immune system in minks.

  • The object of the present paper is to derive some inequalities for certain integrals of functions belonging to the classes A(n), S*(n,$\alpha$) and K(n,$\alpha$). As the special class of our theorems, we have the corresponding result shown by M. $Obradovi\'{c}$ [2].

  • In expansion of function by special basis functions, properties of expansion kernel are very important. In the Fourier series, the series are expressed by the convolution with Dirichlet kernel. We investigate some of properties of kernel in wavelet expansions both in one and higher dimensions.

  • In recent years, several authors have dealt with the fraction derivative [1], in special functions [2], convolution integral equation [5], differintegral equation [4], the derivative of H-function [6], and some other applications. The present paper considers the fraction derivatve in the form of differential eqiation.

  • The wheelset, its functions and position under the train is the prime safety-critical component. Whether in design, qualification, manufacturing or maintenance, the wheels and axles have been the focus of special attention at SNCF for over 25 years and the French Railways are actively involved in various Research and Development work towards interoperability between the railways, railway reliability and running safety.
